  1. I forgot about the fireworks - thanks for reminding me!
  2. We are going. I am so anxious to see the night show especially but I plan to be there both days.
  3. I haven't and I grew up 10 minutes away from Lafayette - will have to check this out. You know, I now as a adult appreciate the places I took for granted growing up in that area. We were 25 minutes from Rome, 40 minutes from Chattanooga and there are lots of attractions in those areas as well as in between. When you drive into Summerville, you can turn left which will take you into Alabama to go to Mentone (which is the cutest, quaintest, most beautiful town ever), up to Desoto Park and Falls, etc. If you turn right when you drive into Summerville (Highway 27), it takes you to Chatt
  4. A couple of weeks ago you and I along with mei lan had a discussion about Taylor's Ridge in Chattooga County, GA. I was crossing over Taylor's Ridge the other day to go to Mom and Dad's (they live about 5 miles away from there) and I thought about you. We pulled over and I took pictures just for you! . Keep in mind I am not a good photographer so the pictures do this beautiful place absolutely no justice. It is beautiful there and I think you and your grandchildren would enjoy this as a road trip.
  5. I think they have had an extremely busy day today so maybe they haven't had time to change it - I really don't know. They did announce today that 12 and under would be free. I'm very excited about this event and I appreciate that Paulding families will have the opportunity to enjoy it!
  6. Am I misunderstanding your post because today at the BOC meeting, Brent Sparks (one of the ones coordinating the Air Show) announced that kids 12 and under would have free admittance.
  7. Paulding Meadows is completely is out of the control of the County Commission. Should the County stop providing emergency services, i.e., fire, ambulance, Sheriff's Department for Paulding Meadows? You know, I truly feel it is fine for our County to provide these type services for community, entertainment type of events. As far as I knows, all of Paulding's surrounding counties provide these type services at entertainment type events in their community. I think it is great that we have something such as the Salute America Airshow, Paulding Meadows, the Fourth of July Fireworks, Rela
  8. I am coming by to visit - been busy but I really have to come by there and will try to in the next week or so. I'm not quite sure I have enough interesting stuff to talk about and I think I am a little boring on camera. I am very glad to see you all do this show - I think the three of you are a good combination and I look forward to seeing more. I appreciate your being innovative Pubby and bringing us this show and this information. It never hurts to have different points of view and I appreciate the fact that you and Patti treat each other respectfully while disagreeing on certain
  9. Loved the show! Even though I didn't agree 100% with everything said, it was still a good show. Differing opinions are what makes the world go round and the world would be an awfully boring place if everyone agreed on everything. I appreciate the time and effort all 3 of you took to bring the Pat and Patti Show to us. The kids were adorable!
  10. And Burnt Hickory Mimi's coconut cake is the best! I'm not even particularly fond of coconut cake but I will eat Burnt Hickory Mom's any day!
  11. I'm sorry you all had this experience. The last thing anyone needs when they are sick is to have to tolerate such people as your husband's roommate. I'm glad they are moving him so that your husband can get some peace and quiet and be on the road to recovery. My daughter in law is an RN at Wellstar Kennestone in one of the Intensive Care Units. It amazes me that she remains sane after everything she has to endure daily on her job - nursing is very, very hard work. Thankfully, there are people like your daughter (or son) and my daughter in law that have the patience to handle the job.
  12. I have known Calvin Thompson and his family for about 35 years and I will say that he is one of those that "practices what he preaches" and I for one very much appreciate that. Yes, I realize he changed his mind about commercial service at our airport since it has been built but you know, we as human beings are always subject to changing our mind due to several things including changes of circumstances. I believe Calvin has admitted on several occasions that he is not the best speaker in the world - I'm glad he is honest enough to admit that. You know, just because someone speaks eloqu
  13. Highway 27 (it is only about 8 or so miles from Berry College). I will take you sometime - I promise not to close my eyes while I am driving!
  14. Exactly. When I was young child, I used to hold my breath and close my eyes when my parents would drive over Taylor's Ridge. I used to would never look off down into the valley but I do now - it is breathtaking and beautiful!
  15. And I am going down there next week because my body needs some serious Vitamin D! Hubby doesn't get to go but I have some friends from Texas that are coming to stay a few days with me there. Believe it or not, they had some tornadoes in the area last night. My neighbor called and said we were okay in our neighborhood but there was a tornado that touched down not far from there. Crazy weather!
  16. I thought about you earlier today mei lan when they were showing Broad Street in Rome on the news - it was beautiful! My Mom and Dad in the Trion area have about 7 inches in their yard and the pictures are gorgeous. I just always feel bad for the people that work in Rome that have to drive over Taylor's Ridge to get home to Summerville or Trion. I drove my Dad home from Redmond Hospital last Friday when the snow and ice started. We had to cross over Taylor's Ridge and it was horrendous! Scared the beejibbies out of me driving over the ridge with ice and snow on it.
  17. Oh no. Would you tell DDD to send it to Lowrider's part of the county this time and not the northeast Paulding area? I'm done for the winter - time to bring on spring and summer!
  18. I have been really busy so I haven't had a lot of time to prepare for this storm; therefore, that could potentially mean the weather is going to be very bad. Dang it, every time I make preparations, we get nothing. Every time I don't prepare (Blizzard of 1993, etc.), we get pounded. So............prepare while I have time or not prepare? That is the question. Could we have a vote?
  19. Ha! My husband loves to tell the story of our earlier married days when I didn't know how to cook. He was such a good sport and always acted like he enjoyed it but I don't know how he could have. Now (thirty something years later), he loves to tell the story about how he would make up an excuse to run down to his Mom and Dad's to "fix" something for them after we had dinner when he was actually going down there to eat what his Mom had cooked. I don't blame him - my cooking was pretty horrid back then. Everything I cooked was either burned or barbecued. Of course it can always be
  20. Great post LPPT! Thank you for helping to start my weekend off on the right foot.
  21. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone in p.com land! We have had a great day today and hope everyone else has also. Our twin sons turn 30 years old tomorrow and our granddaughter turns 3 on Monday. We had a great birthday party / Valentine' s Day party complete with baked brie, ribeyes and filet mignon, twice baked potatoes, grilled corn on the cobb with herb butter, tossed salad, homemade rolls, brownie trifle, white chocolate and milk chocolate dipped strawberries and birthday cake! All the guests have gone and it is time for us to relax and enjoy a movie. Happy Valentine's Day everyo
  22. I understand but when you have people calling our elected officials, etc. crooks, thieves, liars.........then that is personal. They are being talked about on a personal level a lot of times. Just because you or anyone else doesn't agree with them doesn't make them (or you for that matter) a bad person. Therefore, regardless of whether or not they are "public officials", in my opinion, if you are going to call out someone's behavior and make it personal, then you should make sure that you are not guilty any of the same kinds of issues. It becomes a moral issue at this point. Not singli
  23. A credit check is absolutely against the law without written authorization from the person. Judgments on debts, unpaid taxes, any civil or criminal matters are all a matter of public record and anyone can view that information that wishes to do so. Debt information becomes a matter of public record when a lawsuit is filed to attempt to collect that debt. Nothing illegal about that.
