  1. So, we are remodeling bathrooms and to keep my husband "on task", I am staying in the kitchen (which will be the next remodeling project). Who here remembers The old Rio Vista restaurant on Cobb Parkway in Smyrna? Remember their famous house dressing which everyone always raved over? Found a copycat recipe online and here is the finished product below. It is excellent and tastes just like the original. I also found a copycat recipe for the pickled type cucumbers they serve at Ted's Montana Grill that I love. Made those also but they have to sit for a week so the verdict is not in
  2. IF this is true, this is one of the saddest things I have read in a while. 38 degrees and the children are hungry and cold, and trying to keep warm by lighting leaves on fire in the home and the Mother is out having dinner with friends in a nice, warm restaurant. Please tell me this can't be true. God bless these precious children.......... http://www.11alive.com/story/news/local/decatur/2015/01/15/fatal-decatur-fire/21818673/
  3. How is your son that is in the military and is he still in Texas?
  4. I fly frequently and absolutely love Southwest! I have given Delta several chances as they are our hometown airline but in my opinion, Southwest has Delta beat in all categories. Southwest also makes their flights fun while at the same time, maintaining a very professional environment. Southwest also received a major honor recently - #1 best run company in America! http://247wallst.com/special-report/2015/01/05/americas-best-run-companies/2/
  5. Thank you Pubby for posting. While I am terribly sad about the events that transpired, I am inspired by how wonderfully well the community is coming together in support of this family and our top notch Sheriff's Department. I truly believe we must have one of the best Sheriff's Departments in the entire nation. God bless each and every one of them and each and every family member and friend of the Driskell family.
  6. But they look so sweet and innocent! No way they could get into any mischief.
  7. I did not know this young man or his family but my heart hurts for them. The picture of him floating around on Facebook looks so sweet, precious and just an all around good guy. May God wrap his loving arms around his family and friends as they deal with this tragedy. I just can't imagine what they are going through...........
  8. I would love to help you out with that but, we are in the process of remodeling 2 bathrooms right now. It is a beautiful color and I think it would be a great accent color. Oh and congratulations on the Ohio State win - great job against Alabama!
  9. For anyone who might be interested, here is the 2015 Marsala color of the year - Pantone. I like it! http://www.pantone.com/pages/index.aspx?pg=21163&
  10. We watched the FSU game down at the beach in the middle of "FSU country". Even their die hard fans here couldn't believe that most of them walked straight to the locker room - very bad display of sportsmanship on their part. Very glad that GT and UGA won but I hate it about Hutson Mason's injury. I will be pulling for the Oregon Ducks!
  11. Happy New Year to everyone in p.com land - best wishes to each and every one of you for a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2015! 2014 has been eventful in our household. So much to be thankful for in 2014 - thankful for my husband, my 3 children, my 7 grandchildren, my in-laws, my siblings and the rest of my family and friends. Thankful for my parents and that my terminally ill Dad was allowed to still be here on Earth through the holidays and into the New Year. I cherish each and every day that he is still with us - he is a fighter and evidently not quite ready to leave us yet. Thank
  12. People in Paulding County are wonderful! I have been very fortunate to have been a part of many organizations that have had the privilege of helping others in times of need during my almost 35 years of living here. Like so many others in our community, I have had the privilege of helping others not only as part of an organization but also on an individual basis. I admit, every time I have been a part of providing assistance to those in need, the person in need becomes as much of a blessing to me as they say we are to them. I remember that when my 3 children were young, we had a series
  13. I didn't live here during that time but I have heard many stories exactly as the one above. I can't imagine what all of you went through during this tragedy and how it impacted your lives, both positively and negatively. The stories that came out of this tragedy are incredible though and show what kind, compassionate people there still are in the world. Sounds like everyone pulled together to help each other. I have heard that churches and others pulled together to provide meals, shelter, etc. for the families, workers, etc., that there were doctors on site to administer aid, and all k
  14. We could argue about this all day long but I simply do not have the time. The case did not go to trial. It wasn't won or lost, it was settled.
  15. This case did not go to trail Whitey; therefore, it was not "won". The case was settled and a compromise reached by both parties in which resulted in a thorough environmental assessment being conducted.
  16. Each and every time I read an article or watch something related to this crash, I learn something new. Tonight I learned a little more about the technological advances made in the Doppler radar system and how different Doppler radar is now as opposed to how it was then. My mother-in-law who was very well known and respected in this area prior to her death, wrote a book that covered a lot of the details about this crash. I know it was hard for her to do with her niece and great nephew being two of the ones killed on the ground as a result of this crash. It is amazing to me that 22 people
  17. Prior to the Perimeter Mall shooting in the 1980s, I never used to think about sniper attacks, terrorist attacks, etc. My being present at Perimeter Mall during the time of the shootings in the food court sort of changed my outlook on this and made me more aware of these kinds of situations. Will certainly make you pay more attention to your surroundings.
  18. Yep - we save our "fill ups" on the way back and forth to the beach for the Alabama gas stations.
  19. Thank you for the reminder of this - we will be watching this tonight. I didn't grow up in Paulding County but my husband and several generations of his family did. My husband remembers this day vividly. He and his family (along with several other local families) suffered the loss of family members due to this crash. It was a tragic event and my prayers continue to be with all affected by this tragedy. I'm sure the passage of time helps the sorrow but the hurt and sorrow never go away completely.
  20. EXACTLY! Parts of this thread make me think of this quote: "People that throw the biggest stones of judgement often times have the biggest boulder sitting on their own home."
  21. I agree that Mike Smith will be fired after this game. I only wish that we could fire Arthur Blank............. Glad I am watching this horrible game from the comfort of my own home instead of from the suite at the Georgia Dome. . Would hate to have to drive home after this loss.........
  22. Yep - but I will take being "best of the worst" over the rest of the worst any day!
  23. What a game! I agree with what my friend and the head coach of my high school's football team posted on Facebook - that game was a lot closer than the score board reflected. I have lots of friends that are Saints fans but I have to say, I love it that we shut them out this year! Another positive is that the Falcons seem to be improving - both offensively and defensively. Go Falcons!
