  1. Mojo, thank you for the reply. So now I'm wondering if I go to some like CC or Byrd Insurance, do they charge extra for being a middle man as opposed to going right to the source? As far as the home we live in Allstate has it at a replacement cost of 178K, I think that is way too high. The agent doesn't think so and refused to lower it to a more reasonable amount. It would not cost that to replace it, the slab is in place and the land is already paid for.I realize that in the event of a major incident the slab may have to be replaced, but this Allstate agents refusal to lower it is a bit over
  2. Thanks, I will look into Nationwide and see what they offer and give CC a call. I did an online quote with Geico last night and they are partnered with ASI, that quote was $664 per year compared to what we are paying with Allstate, same everything but on 110K replacement cost.
  3. Update, sorry it's so late. DS went the next morning and got his license renewed. He did not need me to be there and have no idea why the guy told him that, but it's done. Thank you for all your responses.
  4. We currently have Allstate and we are considering switching over to Geico, we have our Auto policy with them. Here's the breakdown, the house was built in 1999, 1850 sq ft, brick and vinyl, 3/2 bed and bath. We bought it new for 120K, it is now paid off. Allstate insists in the home replacement value being 178K, which is insane and the agent refused to reduce it to what I wanted which is 110K. Allstate charges 1275.00 per year for homeowners and it is going up every year, we also have another home insured by Allstate in the Savannah area, but it carries only a Landlord policy. What are some of
  5. I've never had a bad run in with the law. Even when I have been given a ticket, they were doing their job to protect myself and others. Last weekend I had to call on a Pooler PD officer to come out to my home there and have a look around. He was extremely nice and next week I have the pleasure of meeting with a Chatham County Sheriffs Deputy to help me regain entry to my home there after my tenants have abandoned it and left it completely unsecured. He will be there to help me get in and take care of what I need to do. LEO's are there for us when we need them most, whether we like the reason o
  6. I never knew her last name until the above post. Was she somehow related to the individual McGarity school is named after?
  7. I remember buying jelly in jars that would be a kids size drinking glass after jelly was gone. They usually had cartoon characters or something on them. Stretch Armstrong. Light a match when you're done in the bathroom instead of sprays. Twinkies Percolator coffee pots. Drive in movies
  8. RIP Miss Jessie. I will miss seeing you around town. Prayers for her family.
  9. I say tell them, it will be up to them to make the decision as to whether or not to go forward. Together they will come to terms with their decision, however they decide. I lost one of my sisters to brain cancer, Glioblastoma, she was 54 years old. She tried many many things and finally came to terms with her diagnosis, but she made the decision herself. Obviously I do not know your SIL, but I bet she would see the effort you and your husband have put into researching her disease and will appreciate what you will have to say. Even if she and her husband go against any more treatments. This is
  10. I am very sorry for your loss, Subby. Thoughts and prayers coming your way.
  11. The reason I asked about the blades is because I have two KA stand mixers, one the wire whisk is a stainless steel and the other one is a burnished metal. The latter will tarnish in the dishwasher and leave a funky dark residue in my hands, rags, food and whatever it touches. It started doing this after going through the dishwasher, so hand washing it is the only option. The metal finish is similar to those ice cream scoops that sort of melts the ice cream on contact for easier dipping. I've had three of those and they all did the same thing, so the one I have now I have to hand wash.
  12. They had on Monday that looked like a baked turkey. It was really cute.
  13. Are your mixer blades white or metal? If they are white, then I don't know. If they are solid metal and not painted, it could be they need a good scrubbing and don't put them in the dishwasher. It will tarnish them.
  14. The article stated she was on a work trip, so it sounds like she was working at the time. If that's the case, then her employer can terminate her if they choose. It's a very disrespectful photo and one that should not have been taken in a place such as Arlington and certainly not while we are at war. I could see the humor in something like this if it was near a sign in a movie theater or play, heck even a regular cemetery, but not a military cemetery. Very bad judgement.
  15. Shaking my head. The other part of the article that upsets me is when the family apologized for the photo post and said it was for their own amusement.
  16. How sad, my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
  17. BF, I posted my opinion based on the fact that we live in the bible belt. So many holy rollers griping about what people should and should not listen to or watch on TV for that matter. It is the same old song and dance that started way back Elvis started swinging those hips around and making girls go crazy. There is no need to put words in my mouth, I never said I wanted to silence anyone's opinion, so with that you can go on and take what I said to heart or with a grain of salt, I really don't care. Nearly everything that is written is subject to inference, including the Bible.
  18. He says he did ask, but was told I need to be there. I love him to death, but he never asks the necessary questions and it drives me nuts. I looked on the website and he went with his current license, social security card, birth certificate, current bank statement that is in his name and mine as well as a current cell phone bill in his name. I tried to cover all the bases, but I guess it wasn't good enough. It makes no sense to me why I need to be there since this has nothing to do with his actual car which IS in my name, it was only to renew his DL. Now if they need me there to prove his resi
  19. They told DS to come back tomorrow that it will likely be down for another 6 hours. He is not trying to get a temp, but is trying to renew. Hopefully, since you are there now it will come on line soon.
  20. Get off the bandwagon and lay down the scripture, it's just music.
  21. My son went to the Cedartown location this morning and the system was down so he was not able to renew his license. He waited awhile to see if it would come back online, but he's just going to have go back tomorrow. My question is this, he was told sometimes the system will let them process some people even with the system down, he was not one of those lucky individuals. DS said the guy that helped him said that I, his mother, would have to go back up there with him to process his license and bring a birth certificate, but I HAVE to be there. Why? DS will be 22 years old next week. Why does Mo
  22. How sad. I didn't watch the news, but read the report in the above links. I hope the 13 year old will receive the proper punishment for this if she is indeed guilty. It's hard to wrap my mind around a 13 yo being charged as an adult, but the authorities must have some very evidence and reason to do so. Prayers for this family, they are really going to need them.
  23. I love Motley Crue and AC/DC ( those are my initials, in fact) but I don't worship the devil. As far as I'm concerned it's just music and I believe the majority of people look at the same way. Loud, fast and hard rockin' music tends to amp me up and gets me very motivated and is no different than listening to something soft and calming to soothe me. I just depends on the person as to how seriously they take the lyrics. My 22 year old son has listened to AC/AC his whole life. He use to ask us the turn up the radio as soon he would hear the first few chords to one of their songs, he started doin
  24. Sorry, the one you have exception to is the only one I know of. They actually fixed a TV of mine several years ago and all was okay. My husband would go into withdrawals too if he couldn't watch his beloved television. LOL
