  1. I live off Ridge Rd and go into Hiram ALL the time. I'd rather be in Hiram than Douglasville any day.
  2. Hmm, now you have piqued my interest. I will look into that as well.
  3. Last year our TKD Grand Master was involved in an accident on his motorcycle. No other vehicles were involved, he lost control on some gravel on 278 over in front of the new hospital. He was very banged up and I bet for anyone driving by, probably thought it was worse than it actually was. I pray this is the case for this young man this morning. Obviously, this has really affected those of you who saw it this morning, my thoughts are with all of you, too.
  4. Nope, no English spoken here. Really, I'm trying to find a good way to effectively dump cable. I just looked into Playon tv and it seems like a good way to go with out needing a Roku box in every room, just use the game systems we have and a Roku in the living room.. Is Playon Tv really as good as it seems? Right now they are offering a lifetime subscription for $40.
  5. I looked at that too. The only problem I have with it is that it will have to be mounted on the wall near the tv and I really want to try to keep a clean look. I didn't where it stated it can be placed in the attic, I'll go back and check.
  6. We plugged the coaxial cable directly into DD's TV and it wouldn't pick up anything. Do I need to adjust the settings or something? We tried it on cable and antenna via the menu button and also tried to auto program the channels. The latter ran through trying to pick up stations, but it came back with nothing. So I guess we will need an antenna. Right now, I don't want to fool around with the smart TV, the living room one, since it is the main tv and all the cables are in the wall. The tv DH and I tried connecting directly is a 3 year old Sony Bravia HDTV. I don't think it has any wi-fi capabi
  7. Prayers for a speedy recovery of the young man. Also, thoughts and prayers to the other driver and EMS who were on scene.
  8. WOW! I had no idea all of those channels were available. I think I'll get my husband to hook the coax to one of the TV's tomorrow. Now I'm really excited about what we will get.
  9. Homemade Lasagna Garlic bread Greek salad.
  10. I hope I don't have to keep Comcast cable at all. I will look into a good antenna and hopefully that will work. We seem to get pretty good reception for our cell phones where we are, so hopefully it will be the same for this switch. At some point I may even look into buying my own modem for internet, but I have to do this one thing at a time, less I get terribly confused. I should add that we have XM satellite radio in the house and the antenna for that works fine. Fingers crossed a TV antenna will too.
  11. Thank you to you as well. I knew we would need more than one box, but I've already figured that my 22 yo DS and 13 yo DD won't need one since they have game systems to stream netflix, hulu and such. They don't really watch local stuff at all anyway. So we will need one in the bedroom, but can get away with a cheaper box like the $50 Roku. The living room will get the Roku 2 XS since it's the smart TV,( less than a year old). All of our other TV's are flat panel HDTV and less than 5 years old and all have HDMI cables on them. ( thanks hubby) I was thinking that we could get a subscription to Net
  12. Thank you. That was my concern, being able to get local channels and sports. DH has to have all of that and Nascar. We are used to channel surfing and I know that will have to change, but like you said, there is so much out there that cable just doesn't provide.
  13. I should add that we have four TV's, one smart TV and three Sony Bravia HD TV's, if that helps. The Sony's are bedroom TV's and two are connected to video game systems. The smart TV has the WiiU on it, but not for long, I don't like games systems in the living room. We can connect to netflix and hulu and all with the Tv alone, but I', thinking we need an antenna to get local channels.
  14. I'm not really sure. I know from what I have read about them and after looking at the packages of them in the store they claim to have 400+ channels to watch programs from, Some of them I have never heard of, but I've been on their websites reading about them and that's what they say. I just want to make sure I can get local channels and sports and if I need an antenna so get all that I want.
  15. Do you stream local channels too? We have PS3, Wii and WiiU and they will connect to Netflix and such. We've used them in the past for watching movies on Netflix, but I want to be able to get the news and sports too.
  16. I have been looking into the Roku 2 XS and the Boxee TV that are sold at WalMart, Target and the like. We currently have Comcast's triple play bundle. We all have cell phones and can lose the house phone and we would like to get rid of cable but keep Comcast internet. Now with that said, who uses these streaming tv boxes, do you like what you get with them and how can I get local channels with them. I want to make sure that we can still watch the local news and the sports that come on those channels. I have been reading and reading online about these boxes, but from what I gather, I will need
  17. Thanks, I'm going to switch in the next week or so. The ones I saw at WM were either AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile. I currently have Sprint and don't have any problems, so I wanted to check with others to make sure your connections were all good.
  18. Oh I'm so glad you started this thread. I am ready to dump Sprint and their contract plans with the high prices. I was in WalMart about an hour ago looking at them and another lady said she loves Straight Talk. I have a friend who has Metro and she loves it. So after reading all of this, it sounds as if Straight Talk is the one for me. Now my question for those of you who have it, which network do you use, Sprint, Verizon or AT&T?
  19. I bought DH the quadrilogy a few years ago and I have yet to watch them. I have seen bits and pieces of them as I go in and out of the room while doing things, but I have never watched an entire movie.
  20. Great, I live off Ridge Road. Thanks for the heads up SS.
  21. I'm with you on this one, Papi. As a person who grew up in Savannah and DH grew up in Daytona, neither of us consider these type of places real seafood. We do got to RL, once in a while, but most of the time we don't even eat seafood unless we are near the coast. Well, other than shrimp and some fish and since it's mostly fresh frozen, it will have to do. I have to admit, we do like that place in D'ville next to RL. It's called Bay Breeze or Sea Breeze.
  22. It's just slang and not what we think of here. Still funny and seriously caught me off guard the first time my friend said it to me.
  23. Two of my favorites are: hose pipe= garden hose sucking on a fag= smoking a cigarette
