  1. That's great for your daughter! I'm 33 years old and want to pursue nursing. I am thinking about going ahead and getting my CNA certification and then going into an LPN program. Ive heard bad things about CNA work though such as the nurses are mean to the CNAs and that CNAs get treated like crap so Im still trying to decide about that part. But I definitely want to pursue nursing. Ive already taken my COMPASS at GNWTC and I scored very high on there so I still have the smarts to do it lol. I worry a lot that I've waited too late in life to get started on it, but it gives me motivation to
  2. Quitting smoking is not difficult if you WANT to quit. I quit cold turkey during all 3 of my pregnancies. I started back though after the babies were born (yes stupid me I know). I had no cravings when I quit during the pregnancies and it didnt bother me at all. Now though if I were to try to quit Im not sure if I could. How bad you wanna quit determines if you can do it or not. The physical nicotine withdrawals are nothing. Nicotine is out of your system in a few days and after that you will not crave the nicotine. Its the mental part of smoking that's hard to let go of. You get
  3. I'm not sure where to buy them but I know you can buy those stick figure family decals on eBay, maybe check there.
  4. I don't understand that trend. It started really about 10 years ago and now tons of vehicles have the In memory... decals. I think its tacky and overdone.
  5. Dip chicken tenderloin strips in melted butter and then roll in Italian seasoned bread crumbs and bake at 375 degrees for about 20 mins. My kids love them this way and sooo easy.
  6. Spongebob is about the only good cartoon on anymore. Penguins of Madagascar is pretty good too. I hate the Cartoon Network cartoons (the newer ones), some of the shows on these days are just WEIRD.
  7. We moved last year and we have dogs. The dogs stay outside but I have my kitty cats that stay in the house. It can be difficult to find a rental with pets. Just keep looking, you will eventually find the right place. If you can find a landlord that has pets, they will be more understanding to your situation. I would never even consider for a millisecond to give up my pets for a rental. We didnt even have to pay a pet deposit at the place we are now, but many landlords will request this.
  8. Yeah to call it stealing is a stretch and it must be nice to be able to pay all your bills on time every month. Some of us arent so lucky. My husband lost his job back in July and now is making less than half of what he used to make because police depts are just.not.hiring much right now due to hiring freezes and budgets, etc. But yet some folks think he should be sitting in jail since we cant afford to pay every single debt right now??!?? Debt is a civil matter according to law, not a CRIMINAL matter.
  9. My husband is a police officer so I can tell you that this does not sound plausible. IF people are being arrested for not showing up for court and they were never served a subpoena, then the law is being breached here and it is unconstitutional.
  10. I use the self-tan lotions from Walmart that cost about $6 a bottle. To me, they look just as good as a tanning bed tan. You just have to learn how to apply it correctly so that it is even. I used to lay in the tanning bed religiously, year-round every year. Those things age you BAD and plus the heat started to bother me so I no longer do it. I do lay on my back deck to tan too to get a little bit of color, the 'old school' way HA.
  11. Alpine Access and Cloud 10 are both legit WAH companies, I have worked for both of them. It is a virtual call center type of job (customer service). They both pay every 2 weeks via Direct Deposit to your bank account. Alpine Access does require you to pay a $45 background check fee prior to employment but dont let that scare you off, they are a GREAT company and contract positions for very well known companies such as Xbox and Staples. 12. Japanese people are disciplined and focus on family and morals. They have a very respectable culture. I have seen the lines on TV at stores in Japan where people were waiting for food and water, and they were all in a line being patient. Diane Sawyer was reporting from there a few days ago and came across a family that was on the streets. This family offered Diane some of their food even though they had very little of it and were homeless. There are *good people here in America, but there are also many greedy and selfish people here. Just go to a Black Friday sale or drive the interstate
  13. Blondiega1 has hit the nail on the head. We did not do PreK when I was growing up. I suppose some kids did but the majority did NOT. I remember writing my full name when I was like 3 years old. I could tie my shoes by Kindergarten. The basics they teach at PreK are things the parents should be teaching the kids anyways. Prek is okay for the 'socializing' part and getting kids accustomed to being around other kids, but thats pretty much it. They spend an hour of their time there napping. As far as college, if you make good grades you can get a scholarship. There are several grant
  14. Yep. My youngest child did not go to Pre-K but my 2 oldest kids did. My youngest child is doing every bit as well at school as his siblings that attended Pre-K. From what I have heard HOPE still covers 90% of tuition and PreK will still be paid for, 1/2 a day opposed to a full day, and without these cuts HOPE will go broke. I think Deal is making the right decision.
  15. At Halloween time there is the 'Atlanta Zombie Apocalypse' in Atlanta near the airport. You get to go thru a zombie attack and can even shoot the zombies with paintballs at the end. If you're a zombie buff you will LOOOOVE it. http://www.atlantazombie.com/
  16. We have high speed internet and cable thru Comcast and it comes to $98 a month with HD Channels & DVR. I used AT&T internet and Dish Network at one point and hated it. Comcast costs a little more but is very much worth it.
  17. My great grandmother was killed in that crash. She lived on the main drag in New Hope near the Fire Dept & Abney school. She heard the noise outside from the plane, went outside to see what was going on and was killed by debris hitting her from the plane. I was born the following year and grew up in her house. We used to find stuff from the plane in the yard all the time.
  18. A lot of parents have come to rely on the Hope Pre-K. When I was in school, most kids did not go to Pre-K and heck even my Kindergarten class (kindergarten, not PRE-K) was only half a day. I went from 8 til noon or something like that. Four year Pre-K is good for getting kids ready for Kindergarten and all but I think 4 hours a day is more than enough. Its getting ridiculous how now you even see 2 and 3 year olds in Pre-K. I think its too young.
  19. This is *exactly how I feel about it. It should be OUR decision how we raise our kids, not the government's. If people want to keep their kids in a car seat til they are 8 then that is their right as a parent, but who the heck is the gov't to demand we do it?
  20. He is definitely a little bizarre. I hate how the media makes a spectacle out of this kind of junk though. There's MUCH more important things going on in the world right now.
  21. What are the prices looking like today? I didn't see any higher gas prices yesterday while I was out, QT at 61 & Kroger actually dropped a few cents, but the Cheveron up here in Yorkville is still $3.29 for regular unleaded. They are always higher than the stations in Dallas.
  22. Tiki Totems is a really good app too. I have been playing it non-stop for the past several days. HA
  23. Just got a text from Accuweather - Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Rockmart (30153). Its starting to get scary looking out there here in Yorkville.
  24. I honestly would rather go back to the 'old school' schedule too. Going back in August is too early. I'd rather them go back in Sept and see all these 'breaks' dropped off the calendar. Summer break is when kids get to be kids. When I was in school, it was chilly when school started back. We didnt go back in the summer.
  25. March 11 was a teacher workday I believe but they have to go now to make up a snow day. We had 6 snow days this year, one in December for ice, and then the week in January. The first week in April for Spring Break is the first off day they will have since mid January. http://wsbradio.com/localnews/2011/01/metro-schools-working-to-resch.html
