  1. Exactly. The state blew it this time. It would have made better logic if they had published new fees for new tags and left the existing tags active. The cost to make a sticker has got to be many times less than a new tag. Wait a minute, they print a sticker either way.
  2. $65,000,000.00 easier, that's 65 million dollars easier. Turns my stomach everytime I think about it. Never forget Jerry Shearin.
  3. I'm watching my wife cook breakfast. Sipping a Starbucks. Watching my grandson watching cartoons. Wrapped up in a blanket, listening to the scanner, reading Paulding.com. Honestly can't get the truck out to go to work. I think I'll take another nap. It just doesn't get any better than this.
  4. I heard a couple calls on the scanner last night that made me think law enforcement should be able to write a $1,000.00 ticket to an idiot who caused an officer to risk his life to assist an idiot. 1) lady who called 911 and did not have a coat. Never did figure out if she wrecked, broke down, got stuck or just did not have a coat. 2) driver of black mustang who wrecked in snow and was drunk. I can just see drunk Bubba telling his drunk buddy "let's go out and help the idiots who can't drive in the snow". At least the officers and dispatchers should be able to say "you are an idiot"
  5. Exactly. I have noticed for several years how clean the local staff kept this store. At the same time I noticed there was no updating of lighting, colors and signage. When this store was built it was state of the art. Seems to me Kroger Corp never spent any money on upgrades because they knew all along what was going to happen and when.
  6. The way I'm reading it so far 33 P.Com members vehicles will have their special tags replaced with regular tags. 4 P.Com members vehicles will be keeping their special tags. In local elections the actual results of elections run fairly close to the P.Com polls. This tells me the P.Com members represent the community fairly accurately. So I'm guessing about 75 to 90 % of the special tags are coming off.
  7. We did cruises on a 700'+ older Carnival ship and a 1000'+ newer Royal Caribbean ship. While the newer / bigger ship was more impressive the older / smaller ship had much better service. It looked to me like they made a bigger ship to house more people but did not increase their ability accordingly to handle bigger crowds. The bigger ship took longer to board, get meals, seated for shows, get on and off for ports of call and finally leave the last time. The smaller ship had a higher degree of personalized service, same waiter every night who learned our likes and dislikes, more menu choice
  8. I could see increasing the cost for new special tags that would be newly issued. That way someone buying a new special tag would be accepting the reoccuring higher annual renewal fees on the front end. I would have loved to keep the special tag, but I had a choice to renew a tag at a higher fee or cut back on something else. The special tag lost out. 2 years ago the special tag would have stayed. 2 years ago I had more money and less expenses. Government actually lost money on every special tag that was turned in and converted to a regular tag. When I turned mine in they lost the cost spent
  9. We ate dinner here tonight. Place was busy. They seated us quickly. Our server Amanda greeted us as soon as we sat down. She got our drinks and cheese dip out quickly. We then waited and waited and waited for our meal. When the meal came out 1 plate was wrong. Amanda had followed the runner to our table. She grabbed it and had it fixed quickly. Looked like Amanda had 4 tables all together. Seemed we all got good attention from her. Seems the kitchen still has some bugs to workout. Food was good. Prices are competitive with other local Mexican places. Service was excellent. We will
  10. I've got a friend who now owns 2 Kia's. He bought the first one about 2 or 3 years ago and the second one in late spring. He would argue with you. I've ridden in both. Good ride and he says they are cheap to operate. He traded in American made cars both times.
  11. I call this "dump & run". Really gets under my skin when the runner throws the plates down, turns and runs... Then we have to sit there and watch the food on the plates get cold while I am trying to get our servers attention. We had this happen at the Mexican place behind Ruby Tuesdays, then none of the other servers would slow down and listen, they blew us off... All I wanted was silverware. When I did grab our server she brought the manager over and he made it right. We like the food there so I now use a different approach before we place our order. Ever time now I nicely tell the serv
  12. My wife works with folks from up north who go on and on all year about us southerners can not drive in the snow. Year after year they are the ones who can not get in to work when we have an ice storm.
  13. Just got in. Dallas Acworth to East Paulding to 120 starting to get slick in isolated small spots. Temp was 31 to 32. Most drivers careful, running under the speed limit and maintaining safe distance between vehicles. 1 idiot in White Ford 4x4 tailgating on East Paulding. Had supper at friends house who ownes a towing service, they are running 2 hours behind arriving on accidents. It will get worst through out the night.
  14. He should ride by it, then consider if he should buy it. I don't care if Gus by it or buy it, either way We will have a great place to eat.
  15. We just got back in from Marietta Diner. My wife and I shared a jumbo ribeye with shrimp and stuffed mushrooms. The 2 of us could not finish the one meal. We brought a carryout box home to munch on tomorrow. They had a heated tent outside with trays of drinks and samples. They quoted us a 20 to 30 minute wait and we were seated within 20 minutes. Our server was from Eastern Europe. I always enjoy meeting young people from around the world there. As usual a great meal.
  16. Your efforts to save this failing store are honorable and well intended. Your heart to save save jobs does not go un-noticed. Your efforts to keep one more business open is good for us all. Unless someone steps up Today and... Hires people with signs posted on 278 directing attention to this store. Finds the landlord and convinces them to pledge a big rent reduction. Encourages the employees to pledge big pay cuts. Engages all social network medias to ask people to come in and spend big bucks. Goes in themselves several times each hour and makes BIG purchases. Locates all vendor
  17. Usually my wife and me share a plate. She gets the soup and I get the salad. Last time we shared alaskan white fish. We will be there Friday night. There will be a crowd but it's worth the wait. Gus owns Marietta Diner, Pasta Bella, Cherokee Cattle Company and Marietta Fish. Everytime we go in we try to talk him into buying the old Creekstone / Harolds BBQ / Rockhouse on 92. It would make a great Hiram Diner.
  18. I certainly hope my friends on Paulding.com are successful with the calls, emails and letters. Keep in mind if you do get the attention of the higher ups at headquarters they will then be looking at recent sales results to determine if keeping the store open has merits. So you also need to do lots of Chrismas shopping there. Sorry but I have not spent a single penny there. I went in once and left disappointed. It just isn't the store for me. For the betterment of Paulding County I hope you are successful.
  19. I am really happy for both locations. I personally feel both locations will improve having their individual owners on site. I tried to hit New Hope or Hiram only if Rodney was there. Just seemed to me it was just a little better if he was in the building.
  20. At home to the mail carrier.. No. I have no idea who delivers the mail. I stick it in the box. I pick it up from the box. No personal interaction here. No disrespect to the carrier. We just don't interact. At work... Yes. There is a mailbox at the street. But the carrier brings the mail in to the office. Smiles, is friendly and lifts everyones spirits everyday.
  21. I hope all ends up OK for you. Sounds like you were in an accident with someone who only cares about their own priorities. I have dealt with no less than 3 accidents over the years where the other driver begged to not have the police officers do a report. 2 of those were my kids calling me, telling me the other driver did not want the police called. In each accident I called the police, then filed an insurance claim with my carrier from the accident scene. In each accident the other driver later tried to pull a scam to avoid responsibity once contacted by my insurance company.
  22. I really liked the salad bar. We went in about 6 months ago and there were no upper end entries on the menu that included the salad bar. I sent an email to their customer service web page. I told them steak plus salad made the price as high as Longhorn. They responded back it is what it is. Would not surprise me if all end up closing. Their upper management is out of touch with their former customers.
  23. Just caught the tail end of a report on channel 2 news. Settlement was reached in suit brought by former police chief claiming false arrest??? Other criminal case still pending in Paulding County??? Anyone catch the whole story?
