Vista is slower, indeed. Less stable... hasn't been my experience. And... nice to meet you, fellow certified technogeek!

As a certified technogeek, it is nearly completely unlikely that Vista itself is the cause of this issue. Installing Windows 7 might "fix" it in the same way that reinstalling Vista might. I'd have done that before shelling out money for Windows 7. And, for the record, Windows Vista was version 6.0... Windows 7 was version 6.1. There is not much difference between the two. It's mostly perception. I know; I work professionally with this stuff daily.
