  1. I don't want to get in on the airport argument. I know everyone is focused on this airport. I have been going back and fourth to Kennestone for 3 days using Dabbs bridge rd. While all of you have been focused on the airport the home building machine is cranking up. Many of the unfinished subdivisions are putting up new signs along the road. There are a lot of new for sale signs along the undeveloped portion of the road. I believe sound guy lives up that way and has already noticed the activity. I know you all hate the idea of commercializing the airport. We need to remember how we got he
  2. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. I hope this will be a better day for her.
  3. Thank you all for the prayers. She had a bad time after I left. She blew her Iv and the pain meds she gets through it. My son said it took an hour to get someone that could put in a new line. She of course was screaming and crying in pain the whole time. I couldn't do anything so I prayed and went to sleep. She has small veins that are difficult to find, we went through it a couple of times during the first hospital stay. I am not sure what I will find this morning when I get there. She has not slept more than a few hours at a time since the surgery. If they were in and out every hour la
  4. Sorry it has been so long in updating everyone. We had to be at pre-op by 9 meaning we left here about 7:30 because of traffic and the extra time getting her in and out of a vehicle. She spent almost 3 hours in pre-op, the surgery was an hour and a half. She had a long recovery and we were in a room by 4pm. She was in good spirits with the nerve block and pain meds. I stayed the night, we had someone come in for something almost every hour on the hour. I was dozing on and off until about 9 when her nerve block quit working. We had an hour of screaming and crying waiting on medicine. I was in
  5. We have somewhat similar stories as you know with our son. We were not at risk but he was. We now know the difference between faith and religion. Prayer is the most powerful thing in the universe. I also pray when ask, I don't always post that I pray, but I do.
  6. We all have them. They are so profound and life changing that we think of life before they happened and after they happened. It can be any event, a birth, a death, a job, an illness. I was thinking about it because my daughter is experiencing it. I want to help her to make this into something that changed her life towards the positive rather than a loss. The postman has a thread somewhat like it about what he learned the hard way. I had a near fatal depression years ago and my life has gotten better every single day no matter the hardship because the way I approach life is so d
  7. Thank you, it will be a long hard road back. She is already thinking of changing careers. Her current job is physically demanding, on her feet 10 hrs a day. She loves her job, she has worked her way up to management in a company she likes. God will open a better door, we are sure of it. They have told us that she will have arthritis in that ankle from now on. At least we can look forward to healing after this. It is not good to have to wait for the process to begin.
  8. Welcome to Paulding.com! We attended a game a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.
  9. I made a mistake Dr.Penney will be in the office regular hrs. Friday 10am - 7pm. He will only be out Thursday for her surgery. Normal hrs tomorrow Wednesday 10am - 7pm.
  10. We had pre-op today. My husband came to help with the wheelchair. Facet syndrome of the low back does not respond well to stairs. We have her in the downstairs bedroom because it is big enough for the medical equipment. Surgery is on Thursday. He will be in Wednesday and out Thursday and Friday. He is much better at keeping her calm and me. I don't mind tubes and needles but her pain is hard for me to deal with when I can't do anything about it. She will definitely have a cast so it will be 3 weeks until her foot can bare weight. The good news is that she can start to heal. The waiting w
  11. He no longer owns the Hiram store he let it go to his partner.
  12. I have participated in 2 fund raisers at Rodneys over the years. Both of those fund raisers changed the lives of 2 families in our community. I started my North Paulding Networking meeting there 3 years ago. That meeting has also changed the lives of many small business owners in our community and continues to do so. I have said many times that our small local businesses are hanging by their fingernails due to the recession. When we pass these businesses we assume all is well because they are open. Many times that is not true, how often do we drive by the next day to see the lease empty
  13. Odor and acne are caused by bacteria. Anti bacterial soap, Salt water bath and even neosporin will kill the odor the bacteria causes. Hormones cause disruption in the ph balance. Many women get yeast during pregnancy for the same reason. Your son may get a yeast infection during this time also. Watch for athletes foot or flaky peeling. Men can get it under their arms and it is very painful.
  14. Remember that sweets and bread make your stomach more acid. Greens and leafy vegetables help maintain a perfect ph in your digestive system. My sister who is very overweight won't eat breakfast because she says it makes her hungry all day. I tell her that her body is sending her a message. We really are only meant to eat 1-2 cups of food at a time. We stretch our stomachs and often seek that bloated feeling to be full. Interesting, if you ground up your food much like your teeth do you would be surprised at just how much food when ground 2 cups is. On the other hand because carbs n
  15. Let me see if I can explain the issue of medicaid and why the states that refused it derailed the reform. Lets start with where we were at. Less than 50% of the population had private insurance. It was a viscous circle of insurance rates going up so less people bought it and it caused the prices to go up even further. Most of the people actually purchasing it were middle class and up. These are also the people that were being taxed for medicaid. Simply put the middle class was shrinking and could no longer carry the burden. So 1/2 the population was paying for the other 1/2 that contrib
  16. When I would start gaining weight, I would look at my husband and say I am not eating enough. He would roll his eyes and say yeah right. It is true, all the years that I was training and helping people lose weight, the failures were people that would not eat breakfast and many would not eat lunch. They stuffed themselves from dinner time to bed time. Their body converted it to fat in preparation for the starvation it knew was coming the next day. Your body has something called innate intelligence and no drug can out smart it. Eat your way to weight loss by eating every 2 hours. Remember
  17. Thank you so much Blondi and Papi! We enjoyed the visit and Jen was so reassured by Papi's experience. She is ready to be out of pain and mending soon. The knee scooter will be a big help.
  18. I will pray for you all.
  19. God takes things like this and turns them into better things if you allow him to. Many times we fight God as he tries to walk beside us spiritually. He walks with us now. I pray that we all have the wisdom to allow ourselves to be changed for the better.
  20. Yes I saw that. I will definitely take her up on the offer when needed. It is comforting to know that someone can be called for help.
  21. I know a lot of folks have been expecting an update from our trip to the specialist yesterday. We have so much to be thankful for. The pain is much more under control. We saw Dr. Terral and learned first off when he came in the room that he is struggling with some serious health issues of his own. I pray that God will heal him so that he can continue to do the work that he does. Without this surgery my daughter would be disabled. He looked at the C-scans and discussed the different procedures he may do, much like an Orthodontist he comes up with a model for the best outcome. One of th
  22. I can certainly understand people being in the flight path being upset. Perhaps someone should inquire exactly what the flight path is since that will perhaps put some at ease. I truly understand the concerns of all of the people. We traveled up 75 to Cartersville the other day and I had the opportunity to observe that the new mega sports complex was right around mile or less from Dabbs bridge road. It would be beyond stupid for the county and state not to fast track the widening of Dabbs and north 61. I will be house hunting in the next few years. I hate congestion with a passion.
  23. The bolded in red really rubbed me the wrong way. I guess Atlanta owns this state because they are the economic engine. We are not Atlanta and we did not vote for their representatives to represent us. I hope folks won't see the city of Atlanta choose to use the land out there that they own for something we don't won't because their attitude towards their neighboring counties comes across loud and clear. It is not wise to allow the fox in the chicken coup to kill the rats.
  24. The death penalty and life sentence's don't stop crime and murder. I am all for punishment, kids make mistakes, they are punished and even then they make more mistakes. I believe that if a child has an ongoing problem of drug abuse or self destructive behaviors help is needed. We learned the hard way that long term groundings never worked. After a week they went into grounded mode, became depressed, accepted the new reality and because they were so young continued to misbehave because they were doing time anyway that in their minds seemed forever. We found short groundings with im
