I thought we already have fiber optic cable here. http://www.northwestgeorgianews.com/archive/million-grant-funds-fiber-optic-network/article_7aa64d19-7cf0-5e9f-8d0d-688d26c2cc63.html I am pretty sure that this is what AT&T is providing uverse on in our area.

I agree with that. I wish more were interested and kept up. In all honesty we have the same 10-20,000 that keep up and vote in the local elections. People only get interested when they perceive something that might negatively impact them directly. Most the time that is a tax increase. A lot of local business owners try to keep up. The problem there is discretion. The rules have not really changed when it comes to discussing politics and religion.

<br /><br /><br /> It is probably representative of what percent of the county's population keeps up with what is happening in the county.

The jobs are all in surrounding counties. Counties that welcomed manufacturing. They put infrastructure in place for various types of industry. Many of our neighboring counties provided for industry before retail and housing. This county did not. We had 10 years of housing boom. Almost everyone that worked in the county was involved with the housing industry. Construction tends to be transient and is not a long term career path if you intend to stay in the same place. My understanding of the IBA is purchasing suitable land for industry, and providing the proper infrastructure. Th

Really? Check the code that comes up when I reply. Who sees this as good? Segregationist or those that see government as the equalizer? Either they are the enemy of private business or the champion. You can't have it both ways. If you are a Segregationist then they can do nothing right. Or they are the champion of business. In my book, pro- government has their eggs in the gov basket. Anti- gov. does not have their eggs in the basket yet. Tundra there is only one conspiracy and that is a win. As individuals we all define what winning is. Losing means the majority physically suffer

The issue is that guns and murder are seen as the ultimate problem solver by many. Whether it be poverty, the need for drugs, being disrespected, a spouse, or whatever our society more and more sees murder used to solve problems on popular media. Depending on what you choose for entertainment, there is a part of our brains that no longer feel murder and violence. I have noticed this in my son that plays a lot of video games and watches action movies. When we discuss many of the problems with society he see solving the problem as killing the bad guys. He does not like getting bogged down

How Come? If you are not for commercialising the Airport
LPPT replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It never ceases to amaze me that people think there is no money in the economy anywhere to be invested in large ventures. I read between the lines in many post that people don't believe that anyone would invest billions in our local airport or build multi-million dollar hotels in our county. What a shock they are in for. I bet folks think there are maybe 1 or 2 multi- million dollar estates here to. There are a lot of shakers and movers that call Paulding home. There is more than a little interest in growing and investing here. I am not personally addressing you in this post. Wha -
How Come? If you are not for commercialising the Airport

Pubby this is a great post, you get the big picture. This has a lot to do with the big push for the airport. I have the feeling just as you have mentioned that if we are not careful we will become the cheap seats for those attending this adventure. There is a lot of opportunity for our local people to become entrepreneurs in this new world. More than likely what will happen is a lot of rezoning for people to profit on their land. I don't think people can envision our roads and hwys fast tracked to 4 lanes and covered in hotels, restaurants and stores. They are building a new sporting goo -

Until I got on p.com I felt a bit like an outsider. We had our circle of friends and acquaintances but found it difficult to identify with people like ourselves. We were somewhat like natives that loved the county, we were from small towns and communities so we had no thoughts of changing the community to fit us. We wanted to serve the community and make it better if at all possible. I found people with like minds on P.com and have made some dear and lifelong friends here. Going home to our hometowns feels like a visit rather than home now. This is home to our children, we will

We really miss you! Is there any chance that the fiber optic cable was run near your residence? I love my Uverse internet and cable. The speed is great, the channels are great. I love recording shows and movies with it.'

This is the sentence I was referring to. Brett Smith and Blake Swafford were at a chamber event and offered to step up and pay for the construction work on the TAXI WAY in the event that the Bond did not go through. These 2 people pull from different pools of funds. You made it look as though their funds are commingled.

The Brett Smith and Blake Swafford remark needs clarity Whitey. Brett Smith is a private investor. Mr. Swafford can only pay for work with taxpayer dollars through AA or the IBA. I am pretty sure if a private investor can get public moneys to pay for any or part of a project he will go that way first. I am pretty sure that he is glad that he did not put anymore into it than he already has with some of the issues going on. It is hard enough to fight Goliath but with all the issues it looks as though someone does not have his back in this. We have had a hard time getting that airport

I am updating the bathroom. I have decided to go with nickel finish. The bathroom is small, I want to go with black, white and silver in it. I am having trouble finding a fixture I like. I finally found one on the Depot website I liked and it was out of stock. If someone has one where they changed their mind or it is gently used I might be interested.

You continue to confuse me on your issues. You say Mr. Smith should pick up the tab to go forward with the airport. You have stated that you don't want a successful commercial airport out there. If he does that you and the group will lose at least 1/2 of your momentum to stop commercial flight. I have issue with what appears to be people drawing pay checks to help develop this county that don't have their ducks in a row. I noted that the commissioners seemed to be grappling with what seems to me to be construction that was started without the finances in place to complete the job. Who d

I have worked side by side with Pubby for years. He always edits out the 15 minutes or so of that. When I viewed the other taped video I moved the slider past that part also. Those that believe he edited anything also have both videos and should share the minute marks of what the believe Pubby purposely left out instead of accusing him. He is a one man show that has persevered for years at this. For every story he singled handedly covers and edits, there are at least 2 more someone out there thinks he should cover. There may be some strong debate and disagreement but without this site m

This is the issue Whitey, The airport is here, it has to be successful on some level. For it to be successful a lot of planes have to fly in and out of it PERIOD. Those that don't want them flying in and out, that don't like them, will always be against the success of it. Whether it be commercial, general, or M&R, people are going to make money, a lot of money. Mr.Smith's folks are entitled should they invest to make money. I would like to think that Mr. Smith came here in good faith. I can only wonder what he thinks of the way things are being done. Yes the citizens group have le

Well Pubby there seems to have been a little more to it that you missed. Here it is for you to watch. There was one thing that was no surprise and that is Blake and Mr.Cable doing what they think is best with little or no input from anyone. What continues to be a surprise is just how much of it Tommy Graham has put up with until now. Whitey you did a good job on this one. I think that we are getting closer to getting to the bottom of some of the disturbing issues going on in the county. Sorry I posted this before I saw your post, if you would like to take it down and

1000s of bodies found on campus of Mississippi Medical School
LPPT replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I hope that this is not taken the wrong way, but human remains are only a comfort to the living. We all have different beliefs, but I am pretty sure that we all agree that the spirit leaves the body. I know that the burial place for whatever reason is sacred to many. In reality it is a carcass that needs to handled properly. Many people now choose cremation for many reasons, a lack of space,a lack of funds and a real fact that many don't stay in the same place. My beliefs are such that I find nothing comforting in the remains and how they are treated. I think mass cremation and a s -
I especially wanted them complimented on the fact they took no chances today. I hunkered down with everything I needed and did not leave the house until this afternoon for a valentine card. Looking at our road and reports from hubby I assumed it was all clear. I was shocked that there were accidents due to ice this morning. I know they may face angry parents and teachers if it comes to making up the days during winter break. I hope they never even consider that again when calling off school My anger was very acute after a handful of high school kids were let off the bus and strolled u

I was hoping someone would say something complimentary about how well this was handles compared to the last snow event. Our local school system does not make the rules about the number of days kids have to attend.

We spend more because we have a date night. We sometimes get a Jacuzzi suite, have dinner and champagne in the room. We have done this for over 25 years. It is us time, we leave all the mundane things behind and relive the days when we were dating. My husband is very romantic.

My heart goes out to those that lost a loved one in the accident. It is so painful to lose a loved one suddenly like that.
