There was a lot of criticism during the previous snow event. I believe it should also be noted when they do things right. We had no problems this time, they erred on the side of caution. They also did a very good job of damage control after the fact last time. We generally have a pretty good system here, you can't please everyone. We had so many that work for the school go above and beyond with the last disaster. I was proud of the way Mr. Cole took responsibility and has now shown that he will not let it happen again. That is all we can ask of our superintendent of our sch

It never gets any easier. It is so hard to keep the promise that we make when we hold that little puppy or kitten in our arms. This is what we give in return for years of unconditional love and devotion. Try to remember that you are giving them a gift and hold them in your arms so that they know no fear but only peace. You will know you have done your best by your sweet baby. Every time I read these post I think back to the many times I have done it and with the 9 we have now how many more times I will have to do it. We keep our animals so healthy that we have only had 2 pass on thei

We have had a very small breeze off and on this morning. The pine trees look a little scary when they sway. I hope we don't get more than a slight breeze until it melts.

It will all be gone in a few days, no nasty little frozen piles to deal with for days and weeks. Snow in the south is God's way of blessing us with a little family vacation!!!! If we stay of the roads of course LOL!!!! It is time to make french toast, or by another name,,, Milk sammiches!!!!!!!! LOL! I miss emoticons!

My kitten loves the snow, she is chasing snow flakes! Tooo cute!

It is so beautiful this morning! Every little thing has a coating of snow on it. It is also snowing here again.

There is still a little rain in the snow up here. It is really sticking to the trees right now. Still hoping that they won't ice heavily and fall. I don't like being without the (knock on wood) word for days. I am over warming the house just in case. The family hates me for it, but I know getting the walls and floors toasty will really help the supplemental heat if we have to use it.

We have heavy sleet and a very fine misting rain coating everything. I was hoping the mist would not come. It is coating the trees. Not good.

Could it be bacon? My husband forgot to get enough bacon. I don't feel secure unless there are a couple of pounds of bacon and shredded cheese in the house at all times. I can eat soup for a week as long as I have bacon or cheese to top it with.

Hubby just left and had trouble getting up our steep driveway. I would be cautious of some areas until the temps rise a bit. Sleet lowers the ground temps quickly and we had according to the weather channel 2 inches so far. Obviously much of it melted, the fact that we still have white shows the ground is very close or below freezing.

Leave it at HJIA where it belongs. Guess what it is coming out here with no special breaks for Delta included. They don't like that and if they can't have it that way then nobody will get it. We are going to do commercial service rather than having having a large tax base from manufacturing and industrial. You just don't get that industry still has not got the support it needs from some people in this county. What don't you get about those that make their money in the housing and retail business wanting the upper hand. We are still in the fight over land use here. There have been no past -

I bet you would love to see a court compel them to publish a business plan for Delta to work with. I wouldn't hold my breath. I suspect that the AA has seen a business plan. Why don't you ask them if they have seen it rather than asking them to tell you what is in it. You might be surprised. But of course you don't want it to be successful so you would be very unhappy if it was sound. -

I think the only risk to our airport being a success is Delta and the citizens against it. I think the ship sailed on the MRO at the airport. We are suited for a small start up that needed the low overhead and tax incentives we could provide. Meaning that we were looking for a needle in a haystack for suitable companies. I see the issue as one of time what we have to offer at this point in time to companies. We don't have a lot so we are basically in a race to try and get the available land and infrastructure occupied by desirable industry before we go commercial and residential. Quite -

If it were me I would not publish my business plan for Delta to see. They are very powerful so is Hartsfield and /Atlanta. Any airline that plans to do business at our airport might find itself under attack. Seems I heard something about some big shot marketing firms helping out with a campaign to stop our airport from going forward. I am not passionate pro or con as many of you are on this issue. I understand it from a business point of view and what decisions have to be made. From a personal point of view I hate congestion period. It would suit me if they stopped everything and the -
I was not that concerned until I read the update this morning. I thought to myself it is going to warm up, melt and life would be back to normal. The update this morning said that we would have an inch of freezing rain followed by snow and 25-30 mile an hour gust. From past experience the snow and ice may melt but it could take days to get the power back on. Gas pumps don't work without power.

You and I see things very different. Lets say you are looking for work and I am looking to start up a business to take advantage of the opportunities arising with what I have to invest. I start with how much capitol I have, you start with who will pay you what you think that you are worth. You line them all up and start the interviews. You know what salary you will take, benefits and hours. I have to write a business plan take it to the bank. I may have to rewrite it, I have hundreds of hoops to jump through from the county and state that may cost me thousands over what I borrowed. Even -
Our cars and sidewalks are white with sleet this morning and it is still coming down. Sleet drops the ground temp pretty fast. That rain will have to be very warm to wash it out.

I was letting the dogs out before bed. I was turning in early because the cold and damp was getting to me. No wonder!

I remember the last time, I know you are dreading all the head aches. A lot of people had a hard time with the board change last time. They did not seem to understand that you can't provide a new board exactly like the one everyone is familiar with.

Of course, commercial or industrial construction pays a decent wage. Once the airport is here we will see steady growth indefinitely in that area. We will also see industry that supports it moving in and hiring. The ground workers start at around 10.00 an hour but see regular increases that can top out around 15-20 an hour. A lot better than the jobs we currently have for high school graduates here in the county. I am more concerned about the stupid retail and restaurant that will probably fill up 278 west because of poor planning and zoning. A very false theme that is embarrassingly re -

When they are registered to this county they pay taxes just like a car or boat. As far as I know that is the true benefit to the citizens of an airport. -

Why would I have that, I am not planning on buying a franchise or ever working for one. 90% of the time I choose not to even drive past one if I can help it. Airport workers tend to make more than burger flippers. The largest and best paying employer in this county is still the government. As a taxpayer that really bothers me for some reason. The folks making above min. wage in this county for the most part are being paid by me rather than private industry. That is one of those wonderful realities of a bedroom community. -

There are a lot of things coming together that a creating a picture of the future. Don't expect much information as long as there is litigation. There was a reason that much of this was kept quiet and now even more reason to keep many things quiet. I am not sure if you are aware that the players have not changed much over the last 20 years. Their wealth, and influence does not go away because of a different set of elected officials. They still hold the same hands they just have not made any bets on them. Believe it or not those that want industrial growth here are still in the minorit -

Young people do what they have always done. They get married, have children and go to their job every day to support them. People need jobs and money to live on. Young people worry less about the big picture. -

Delta is not the only airline in this country. They get a lot of breaks when it comes to taxes and fuel. It must make it pretty hard for other airlines to be competitive in the same markets. Don't be surprised if you find out that Mr. Smith has quite a bit of support and capitol for this endeavor. I think this issue is a bit bigger than David Austin spending a few million in tax payer dollars to fight Delta. This is a major battle field for commercial airlines. Don't be surprised when Mr. Smith comes up with the capitol to complete the projects needed after the studies are finished. I
