  1. You could not address his points? simply say what a crock, what does that look like? 6th grade debate in the locker room. Yeah! look how smart you are, you came up with a one liner. Would you pretty please pick our new president?
  2. I have not watched more than a few hours of each over the last 4 years. I avoid all opinion pieces, my opinions are my own based on pretty cut and dried news pieces and being very observant of people from all walks of life.
  3. When you are spending many days with loved ones in the hospital the social and comforting part of eating with friends and relatives becomes very important to you. I have been through many times when you did not want to be more than an elevator ride from a loved one. I am glad to know that the Wellstar people know how important this is to families.
  4. Let me explain something to all of you. The popular media that you enjoy so much are entertainers. They entertain you by criticizing your government for hours every day. They have teams of researchers scour every publication they can find. This is fodder for their shows and websites, they have to criticize every thing to have enough content to fill the house and hours that many sit and eat up all day. The result is that even if the left and right could compromise to do something good for the people, the right would not be allowed to. Elections are lost based on the criticism
  5. There is no crowd of liberals or democrats on p.com. Probably 95% percent of the readers on here are conservative. This perception that there are a lot is caused by the fact that many subscribe to sites, news shows, and radio shows were they do not allow any debate with people that have a different viewpoint. I am considered a democrat and I guess I am. I believe that leadership should try to do what is best for the majority. I don't believe that corporations are people. I believe in regulation of business, I believe in the preservation and safety of out environment. I beli
  6. Congrats! I am proud of your son for being there for a home birth. I know it is not easy but he will cherish those memories as time goes on.
  7. Feelip gave you some good advice, start small and add more changes as you go. My dad has diabetes when I visit him there is little or no food in the house that is bad for a diabetic. He is well stocked on his favorite foods that are allowable. That is the key to a lifestyle change. Find a program that list all foods and their values. If you eat well the temptation is easier to handle. Also noting how you feel when you eat right. I have seen men go from pudgy couth potatoes to avid exercisers because they feel so much better. The most important thing is don't bring the bad food
  8. Things are not going to turn out well for quite a few folks in the near future. I agree with Pubby on appreciating those folks that are doing the work. After years of listening to Pubs I know he can be tough on some of this stuff. People want his involvement on many things. He gives good advice, I am not sticking my head out there until this holds water. It is good advice, people are always welcome to publish their stories on here. He tries to tell folks how far they need to go to have a real issue. He is not going to do the work of plugging your holes as a journalist. When you p
  9. I have also heard of women leaving young ones at home for the interview and when they get the. I am not excusing what she did but people would have bashed had she said she could not find childcare so she was going to live off the state. I am sorry folks but it is so hard to climb out of the hole these days. Childcare is so expensive. I am not sure what the rules are now but there was a time when if you did not have an address you could not get any help what so ever. I doubt anything has changed, our social system absolutely refuses to give a hand up. I have seen people so despera
  10. Years ago pay pal changed their policy on fund raising you had to prove you were a legitimate charity. We also had to make some changes here. You have been a big help with that and we appreciate your stepping up. I don't like it either, someone local is using it for ongoing fundraising and I would not give to it because know too much. They require no validation people need to be wary of it.
  11. I don't know if this falls under the label of rude it is callous and happed the other day, but I have seen it many times before. When I see an animal, especially a dog in the road or very close I start slowing down hard and will often stop if it is in the road. I can not tell you how many times someone is coming from the other direction and they don't even slow down. What are they thinking? that a dog is as smart as a human and will move off the road quickly? I think they simply don't care if they hit it. Dogs like children will do things without thinking. They push gates and doors o
  12. I certainly hope you did not mean me when mentioning those sources you claim are liberal. The only one I recognize is Huff. I do however recognize the tone.
  13. My dad wants to talk to me about how upset what he is hearing makes him. It does not make for a good visit, we often watch others shows he enjoys. But I am not going to sit there silently when 1/2 truths are spun in a way to frighten him and anger him. I am very protective of my dad and I want him to be as happy as possible and he knows that that is where I am coming from. It is not just me, none of my sisters want it on the tv when they are there because of the same thing. They are extremely far right, their husbands are off the cliff right and they are sick of hearing it at home. The ang
  14. That is the point, they are not ideal pollinators. Honey bees are but they are dying off it won't go well if we continue to reduce the pollinator populations.
  15. I never said I was extremely logical. I never said I supported Mozilla's decision. I said that looking at it from the point of view of homosexuals it can be seen as a direct attack on them. Basically I do see both issues as the same. Marginalizing segments of the population. Women, gays, who is next?
  16. Hobby Lobby has lost my support over the issue. No employer has the right to tell you how to spend your paycheck. In my opinion they have no right to tell what medical services you can and can't use your insurance for. The contraceptive pill as of today is a medical service. You must see a doctor at least once a year and it must be prescribed. I would not expect insurance to pay for my over the counter medications that I treat myself with. There is a difference and I feel as though it is a direct attack against women.
  17. He never addressed homosexuality directly. Everyone knows that. Zero mention of them by him period. Jesus certainly did not hold up all of the old testament teachings. He was killed for not doing so. Either you abide by the old testament or the teachings of Christ. As far as tolerance goes, when you make laws against homosexuality I believe that it is the ultimate intolerance. Homosexuality is offensive to many, that is the only sin if you believe being offended is a sin.
  18. Jesus tolerated all, the rich, the poor, sick, prostitutes he came to show us that God's love was unconditional. We wake up every day and know before we sleep we will sin. We will often sin against those we love. Sin is pain to be human is to hurt and to hurt others. Love and sin go hand in whether your sin is intimate or not. You can not separate the two as long as you live. The sin is not as important as the joy and the love. If you are totally without sin then you know boundless joy. We are not allowed that as humans. God's love is unconditional; and no sin is unforgivable that is what we
  19. We are talking about what was contemporary at the time he walked with us. You are a scholar, you know what they did to homosexuals. I am very sure that they did everything possible not to be discovered. Jesus shared many parables and thoughts, but there are no direct quotes by him addressing the issue. Just so you know I only credit the direct quotes and parables. I see the rest as anecdotal and history. It does not mean I dismiss it as valuable spiritual advice, it is simply in a different category. That means you and I will not agree on much with the exception of who exactly Christ was an
  20. I doubt they would have approached Jesus with their problem. They would have rightfully assumed it might mean their death. Quite frankly even if they had I doubt the apostles would have shared. They chose to perpetuate the contemporary beliefs about women when Christ had been clear about our exalted position. I agree don't get sucked into the God can't wait to punish you cause you don't believe like I do doctrine.
  21. He always remained that funny sweet young man in my mind. Even though I saw him as he got older I always felt I had kind of grown up with him.
  22. I agree with you. If she finds someone to educate him properly about his liabilities that is all you can do. She can also advise him about true friendships. It looks as though many of his relationships go one way. Maybe show some examples in her own life about friendships that only went one way and how she moved away from those people. She does have to admire the fact that relationships are the most valued and precious things to him. He seems to understand that those are the only thing he can take with him. He just needs to be shown the difference friends and users.
  23. I wonder if spraying vinegar on your wood work might discourage them. I hate these threads about killing them. Honey bees are dying off at an alarming rate over the last few years. The carpenter bees do the majority of pollinating in my garden over the last five years. I hate to use insecticides on my flowering plants due to the fear I am killing off bees. You guys may think it is silly, but without pollinators we could face a famine.
  24. About time you got back to your thread. This has been one of the best debates on here in a long time. It got a little rough but it didn't go completely in the ditch. I enjoyed it, very vigorous, held my attention for once!!
