Before they do this they need to look at Shelby county schools in Tn. They just did this with their school buses. I kid you not there is a bus wreck almost every day. They had a stoned bus driver seriously wreck a bus. He had been arrested for drugs before. They found out the company is not putting out the money for back ground checks like they were in the beginning. They have lower pay and no benefits so the turn over is very bad. Over sight of this company for a bus system this big will cost the county the same as having county employee drivers. We saw the same thing when we turned ove

My husband always got excited when the kids came home with a project. You can only imagine why. I would tell him you had better let the kid do at least a few things cause the teacher is going to know who made this and it is not a 4th grader.

Meet the Chesterfield officer who came to kids` rescue

It is generational poverty. When you raise a child in an area were all he ever sees is failure and prison that is what he expects. The child goes to school, gets an education but for some reason he does not believe that he can live the American dream. I guess I believe that the party you refer to is the only one that even looks at the issue and say what can we do. The other party has the answer, education or jail, we don't care how warped your upbringing is, we want you to go away. -
I found a very good article that addresses Pubby's remark about drugs which I tend to agree with. Pubby you will like this article because they experimented with your theory about drug use and how to deal with addicts and had a positive outcome. Aricle on addiction There is an alternative. You can build a system that is designed to help drug addicts to reconnect with the world -- and so leave behind their addictions. This isn't theoretical. It is happening. I have seen it. Nearly fifteen years ago, Portugal had one of the worst drug problems in Europe, with 1 percent of the population

Meet the Chesterfield officer who came to kids` rescue

I wish this was the majority of what they have to do. I am sure it is for those that patrol mostly in the suburbs. Those that patrol the low income inner cities are practically in a war zone. Those that go through the revolving door of the justice system in and out of prison seem to be the most dangerous. -

I hear the officer almost begging the guy over and over not to move his hands. You can hear him yelling to his partner that he is moving his hands. I assumed from that it was a warning to the other officer not to shoot but to be careful. Almost every one of these I hear fear in the officers voice. How many times does this have to happen before these people understand to obey the officer, be docile, and straighten it out at the station not on the street. I get that it goes against the grain of some to submit to the authority of the officer. So what, if you are doing nothing wrong it is 10 -
Most of this country's inner cities experience at least one shooting a day. No telling how many assaults, robberies, and home invasions. We have millions in prisons. You do understand that we have a serious crime problem in this country. We are asking men and women to put their lives on the line to protect us against the overwhelming number of people committing crimes. Many of these criminal place no value on human life especially not an officer of the law. The majority are high on something and don't care about the consequences of their actions. The cops in this country can't be that bad

There are probably a hundred times more victims of crime than there are victims of police brutality. I have no issue with questioning if an officer stepped over the line. It also bothers me that police refuse in many instances to turn in their fellow officers. Do they crack and go over the line, and does the lack of reporting have to do with empathy? I am sure it does. I might be a 100% more comfortable if I was aware of more cases when an officer was turned in by his fellow officers for abuse. Almost none of these cases involve victims that have never been arrested before. many times the

Buy walmart and Dollar store stuff. The kids only steal what they consider swag. My kids did not have swag until they worked and bought with their own money. Not beating up on you for wanting to make your kid happy, just sharing reality. If the kid saved and paid he might not leave it behind.

I think ancients saw the world as cruel. Eat or be eaten. Life was hard and there was a lot of suffering, it was all they knew. Many societies all over the world are comfortable and most have the opportunity to seek a more comfortable life. We are slowly letting go of cruelty as a way of life. I believe comfort and security have the most to do with laws evolving to stop victimization instead of promoting it. I guess the ancients may have felt victimized by nature and their Gods.

Funny you should bring up the Ebola outbreak. I almost added the comment to my original post that frankly I found these facts to be more frightening than an Ebola outbreak. I have been very disturbed about fracking and off shore drilling. Our society is completely dependent upon cash. Should we create a natural disaster that causes huge crop failure, we would be very close to famine very quickly in this country. The blatant purchasing of law to increase one's wealth has never been more apparent or dangerous than this point in time.

I don't think party makes a difference. They are loyal to power only. They can control any country in the world through their markets. Both parties feel the power equally. Look what the Saudi's are doing to the oil markets. They decided to shut down our drilling and did. That is just an example of what they can and will do. The taxpayers that are already severely burdened will have to take care of the workers families. This is how it works all over the world.

Richest 1% Likely to Control Half of Global Wealth by 2016, Study Finds I am on the record with my opinion on the 1%. Many cry wealth envy, I fear their power. They now have more power than all the governments on the planet. They have complete and total power over our lives. They have the ability to control how much money we make and how we live. Whether we get health care or even education. More so than that they control our military that is forced to protect their interest all over the world. This is not the millionaire next door with financial security and the artifacts of wealth surro

I have a definitive diagnosis of facet syndrome of the lumbar region of my spine. There is next to nothing out there. I can be relatively pain free if I choose to spend most of my life in bed. Different things work for different people. Some use alcohol, believe it or not a lot of people do and they are not drunks. You can not believe the amount of tension you are under with chronic pain. I did not realize how rigid I had become until the right combination was found for me. We so often think of abuse these days. People that abuse anything have pain in their heart. I was a huge believer in a

As a chronic pain sufferer you have all the sympathy in the world from me. Even though Shallow Hal is being rude he does make a good point. Because his 2 statements are going to be the first wall you may hit many times on your journey to receiving help. I am very active and always have been. With pain medication I am at about 70% of my normal activities. I have become a homebody because of the medications, I have to abstain from driving or suffer while I drive. The people I run into say I look 10 years younger, not many knew how bad I was suffering the last year until I got help. I am sure t

He found me you tubes of all our favorite bands back in the day. On a Friday like this we would go home and straight to bed for a 2-3 hour nap. We would get up, get ready and go. Memphis had a lot of homegrown bands that toured the clubs. We gladly paid the cover fee. I still think you have better music coming out of Memphis than ever came out of Nashville. They turned blues into an original type of rock music that was copied by some of the biggest bands in the country. I am going down memory lane today and wanted to share the great music that we had back in the day. Another ti

I found the remark by Mr.Austin rather odd that a dismissed board member might sue the county. The only reason I can think of that they would sue is if they were going to directly profit from the decisions made on the board. If that is the case then they should not be on boards that spend taxpayer dollars.

I don't consider myself a bigot, I have been forced by the evidence yo believe that the Muslim religion does not make them violent but allows them to be so. The point Miss Gabriel makes is a good one. I believe that with this last attack on the French journalist a catalyst has been set in motion. It must be very hard for the peace loving Muslims to condemn others when the Koran says that those terrorizing the world are not condemned for their actions by the religion they practice.

This is nothing new, rural Chinese farmers have been doing this for decades, they cook, light and heat their homes, with it. They put the waste from humans and farm animals in a series of jars with tubing to harvest the methane gas. The truth is the technology to take a home off grid has been around many years. We simply do not have the motivation. I agree with Pubby this can hurt the movement towards reusable energy. Fracking and off shore drilling is the scariest thing I have seen in modern times. Bush tried the food for oil and failed. We are coming very close to creating it within our bor

Hmm those no-no's look like the ones I learned in Sunday school. I wonder if we allowed Christian church leaders to make laws in this country they might use the same signs exchanging Christian for Shariha. Not only that I could see millions of Christians supporting it because they believe this country was founded on the laws of the new testament. I believe we have so called Christian cults here in this country that do the same. Waco Texas comes to mind. We also tolerate these cults until they come under scrutiny from law enforcement. -
So you think that fracking has been a good thing for America and our economy? Seems to me American families are getting a much needed break. Not just for their cars but the families that struggle to pay for heating oil.

I wanted to share this really good interview. I have a lot of thoughts on this interview, but I don't want preconceived views based on my remarks. Saudi billionaire businessman Prince Alwaleed bin Talal told me we will not see $100-a-barrel oil again. The plunge in oil prices has been one of the biggest stories of the year. And while cheap gasoline is good for consumers, the negative impact of a 50% decline in oil has been wide and deep, especially for major oil producers such as Saudi Arabia and Russia. Even oil-producing Texas has felt a hit. The astute investor and prince of the Saudi

Can somebody explain why the building in the county was stopped

They need to look at some older records while they are in there. Maybe even some court records where people had to hire a lawyer and sue to stop their lakes and streams from being floordd with silt. Hell they should check every file in there against court records. I have heard horror stories from small business and citizens over the years. I wonder why after all the complaints to the state they finally decided to start looking, maybe someone with really deep pockets got screwed this time. -

How does the military accommodate their needs for prayer times? I am not sure how society accommodates a minority that only follows the laws of their religion and ignores civil law that is not in line with their religion. I am concerned that they seek to be more than a minority in countries they immigrate to. When they reach 50% they begin to make laws. Christians are very tolerant of other religions, our bible teaches that. We are not taught to not tolerate other religions. I just don't think that the 2 religions can work together. The scariest thing is that their religion can be interpre
