I think it is funny that all the yankees I love whine more than me about the cold. Living up north gave me more tolerance for the cold and taught me to layer. I have not but on a heavy coat yet, I really prefer layers. All my winter boots are a size to large to accommodate 2 pair of socks. A lot of the new materials they are making the thermal under clothes with is not near as bulky.

His Mom Served Burnt toast , but he was shocked when his Dad said this. “When I was about eight or nine, my mom burnt some toast . One night that stood out in my mind is when she had made dinner for us after a very long and rough day at work, She placed a plate of jam and extremely burned toast in front of my dad. Not slightly burnt but completely blackened toast. I was just waiting to see if anyone noticed the burnt toast and say anything. But Dad just ate his toast and asked me if I did my homework and how my day was. I don’t remember what I told him that night, but I do remember hearing my

My kids are all talking about ice and snow tomorrow. I always lok at the weather channel on line, most of the time they get it right. They are showing zero % chance of precip tomorrow an 10% on Saturday. At the same time there was a NWS message saying that we are going to have ice, not we are. I don't know why I am so annoyed but I would really like to send them an email with a lot of bleeps in it.

I have been using the reusable bags for over a year now. I put my groceries in the back of a suburban, by the time I got home I had to re-bag. I am not sure why they started the 2 or 3 items per bag, I assume because the bags were thinner and and cheaper. It is a nightmare to try and put the bags together and get them up 12 stairs to the door. Now most of my groceries fit in to big bags and a cooler bag with frozen and perishables. Fresh fruits and veggie in one everything else in the other. When I stock up on juices I have one big strong bag they fit in. My stuff is bagged the way I want b

Mr. David Brown - September 14, 1947 - February 19, 2015

I am so sorry to hear David has passed, my condolences to Debra and their children -
I love Mike Rowe. I remember my sister held a position in a company that was having a huge turn over of employees with degrees. These young people were to work under her in her department. Many of the young people were quitting by the end of the week. She said the most shocking thing was the expectations they came in with shortly after graduating. Most of them thought that they would not be doing any actual work, but that they would be supervising someone doing all the work. When they found out that they would not have an assistant to help them assist her they quit. The ones she let go co

They have done studies and I have seen it on here, once you give folks what they believe to be the facts and they make a decision to believe it, no matter how much evidence they are later given to prove it wrong, they will not change their opinion. Fox news thrives off of this human trait. Don't have an open mind they say, that is just what the liberals want so they can sneak in there and convert you. You know my grandmother believed that atheist scientist created all those dinosaur bones and buried them to convert us all to atheist. You could not argue with her, the minister said so and tha

This article pretty much describes my hell and why I am in Tn so much. My 76 yea old father watches a lot of tv because he has been recovering from something for the last 2 years. He watches a lot of fox. Last year he cried, literally about how Obama care was going to kill him. His cancer doctor was not going to take Obama care and he was going to die without him. I had to explain to my dad there was no such thing as an insurance called Obama care, that it was a set of regulations that insurance companies had to follow. Not only does having me there help with his depression the fact that h

Interesting Theory on ISIS - Why are they so agressive?
LPPT replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Jobs are not the issue here, these young men are joining ISIS for the same reason that they join gangs here. A sense of belonging, of brotherhood, and feeling not only part of something else but and underlying sense of taking control by violence. Muslim men are denied sex until married, violence is a satisfactory substitute. In their country you don't just see a girl, date her and marry her in a few months. Their religion demands a lot of sacrifice and denial of self. A perfect fertilized field for what we are seeing. Not only do they deny themselves the deny the women all quality of life. -
Interesting Theory on ISIS - Why are they so agressive?
LPPT replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I am interested in the articles about men that have joined it, saw it was not what they thought and have had to sneak away. It is crucial to the Muslim world that they eradicate this disease. We have millions of Muslims in this country. If we get into this we will not be able to protect ourselves from the terrorist. Islam allows dishonesty when dealing with infidels. We can start putting them in camps, the terrorist will deny they are Muslim. It becomes a holy war like it or not when we get into it. You may not be passionate about religion or God, but many of all religions are. The reason it -
Interesting Theory on ISIS - Why are they so agressive?
LPPT replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I stand by my opinion that the Muslim countries are the ones to fight this. Like or not it is a holy war in the minds of these people. The longer it continues in this way the more embedded the idea that this is a world against the Muslims issue. They have the money and the resources to do it. We are not the guardians of the world, in fact it is part of the problem when things don't go well we are blamed for not fixing their problems. We have had no real clear successful fights in this part of the world. Sometimes we mitigate the consequences of their actions when we step in. Now that th -
Apathetic voting says to elected officials do whatever you want we don't really care. I would say in this county that message is very strong.

I have always been curious about a completely un-moderated forum. Would it implode? or be very very interesting

I am sure that 140,000 are not children. I think the 10,000 are a little scared of the ones over 18. Just think what might happen if an issue was so big it even brought 50,000 new voters to the polls. It might go really bad for some.

I see the concern about this handful of folks making the major decisions for our county. You ask how is this possible? we want to blame these folks that are on the surface all on the same page. It is possible because 130,000 people in this county are interested in a handful of things. The schools( that is about as close to Paulding government they ever get. The rest is parks, restaurants and retail. Most of which many cross the county line for anyway. The 10,000 that vote are not so sure they want to spend the money and time to enlighten these folks to the point they will be motivate

Straight out 278 west. About a mile past Braswell mountain Rd just before the first red light look to your right.

I can't find anything. Hopefully when my kids that live in Rockmart get up and around they can give me an update. I go back and forth over Braswell to go see them. It is a beautiful drive. The wind was out of the north last night so I am not sure how far it may have pushed it. I am also worried about people that have homes out that way. It is devastating to lose a home from fire. I would think if it got bigger or much worse we would see the haze from it this morning and more news.
-
My daughter says it looks like a war zone. It was huge the entire top of the mountain was glowing.
-
Here is a picture so folks can see the size of this fire. I am very concerned with this wind. The wildlife management area could be destroyed. http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/story/28111872/firefighters-battle-brush-fire-in-rockmart

Rose I could tell you nightmares that happened to people trying to open businesses here. My understanding is that the person at the head of that department has moved on. That won't help the folks that invested their life savings and mortgaged their homes only to lose everything. It seems that people with cushy jobs as department heads really don't care about such things. In fact I doubt many of those types have no idea about the sacrifices and blood, sweat and tears that go into building your own business. Businesses especially big businesses do a lot of research before deciding where to g

We saw it coming home. Braswell rd was fine the ridge was way west of Braswell you could not see it from there just smell smoke. I came on here to look for info. The whole mountain was glowing red, with this wind it is going to be very bad.
