  1. I don't know about that. I thought the person meant this: Chi Machine "Chi Machine" is a passive exercise device invented by a Japanese engineer, Keiichi Ohashi, in 1988. Ohashi's invention was granted a patent by the Japanese ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chi_Machine Quite a few websites have them for sale including Amazon.com/. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=chi+machine&tag=mh0b-20&index=aps&hvadid=20950468&ref=pd_sl_8w9j50l1i3_e
  2. Peer support is also mentioned in this article about Postnatal depression: Postnatal Depression Can Be Effectively Treated Drug-Free And Possibly Prevented ScienceDaily (Jan. 15, 2009) A heart-to-heart chat with a peer has proven an effective way to prevent postnatal depression in high risk women, cutting the risk of depression by 50%. Health visitors can be trained to identify women with postnatal depression and offer effective treatment, while telephone peer support (mother to mother) may halve the risk of developing postnatal depression, suggests research published on the British M
  3. Peer Support Offers Promise for Reducing Depression Symptoms ScienceDaily (Feb. 15, 2011) — Peer support offers promise as an effective, low-cost tool for fighting depression, a new study by the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System and University of Michigan Health System finds. Programs in which patients and volunteers share information were found to reduce symptoms of depression better than traditional care alone and were about as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy, researchers found after analyzing 10 randomized trials of peer support interventions for depression dating from 198
  4. Social support plays a role in health. It can help with issues like depression: For most individuals with a healthy social support network, major stressors in life can be more easily handled. A proper support network consists of a reinforcing family and friends who can help the affected individual to work through any problems, such as the death of a family member, loss of a job, major injury, or any of a number of other stressors that can contribute to psychological illnesses, such as depression. For individuals with an undeveloped social network, or those with a negatively reinforcing

  6. I saw the rules said: "Everyone can nominate another for a bullet" So someone can nominate another member for a mayberry too? Is that posted on p.com/?
  7. What if members could nominate another member for a mayberry? Would that work?

  9. July 14, 1861 Camp Clark, Washington My very dear Sarah: The indications are very strong that we shall move in a few days—perhaps tomorrow. Lest I should not be able to write again, I feel impelled to write a few lines that may fall under your eye when I shall be no more . . . I have no misgivings about, or lack of confidence in the cause in which I am engaged, and my courage does not halt or falter. I know how strongly American Civilization now leans on the triumph of the Government and how great a debt we owe to those who went before us through the blood and sufferings of the Revol
  10. Here's a project that shows how to take a stuffed animal and turn it into an Easter basket. This is the dollar store crafts blog. She has quite a few interesting ideas: http://dollarstorecrafts.com/2011/03/make-a-stuffed-animal-easter-basket/
  11. That's great information. Thanks for posting it.
  12. Pubby's first post in this thread mentions respect. I just came across this from Amazon: Respect, a lost value in our world today, is the latest subject of research for Inside Edition anchor and best-selling author Deborah Norville. Citing scientific studies and using stories based on personal interviews, Norville makes a compelling case for the Power of Respect--the simple act of treating people as though they really matter. Amazon Exclusive: A Message to Readers from Deborah Norville Respect. Thanks to Aretha, we all know how to spell it, but lately there seems to be less an
  13. Pubby, your post reminded me of something I read on a blog today. It makes some good points: sharing : how to heal a selfish society by deepian in earth The society we live in is predominantly self-centered. Success is defined as gathering more possessions or plaudits than one's neighbor. Primitive instincts urge us to protect ourselves and our families from a hostile world. We crave our own space. We compete against each other for control of our environment. We seek independence .... Why then do we work against each other? We encourage our children to develop a competitive
  14. So you're saying I can't ask one question in this thread because you say so? I didn't know you had the authority on paulding.com/ to police posts. I thought the mods did that. LPPT said: "Drug use can lead to all the worse things, pregnancy ,addiction, quitting school and even death." Dumbestgirlintheworld made a comment about drugs, and I asked her a question. I don't know what you mean by saying that you didn't bring up drugs when your post clearly mentions drugs---as do many others in the thread. As for your remark about my causes; you already told me that you were
  15. I see more individuals with a win-lose mentality and a us vs. them mind set. I don't like name calling. Some on p.com think everyone should bring out the big guns in what they call a "battle of wits." I was raised in a small town where people benefited from sharing and caring. Someone on p.com told me that one of her friends had dissed me---not her or any of her friends. So according to what she said she thinks it's acceptable to disrespect some people---as long it's not her or one of her friends. What happened to the popularity the Golden Rule once had?
  16. Why would you say that? It is a legitimate question. Dumbestgirlintheworld AND other posters (INCLUDING YOU) brought up the topic of drugs in this thread. Did you read any of those posts?
  17. dumbestgirlintheworld, quite a few of your posts contain references to drugs. What are you telling children with those?
  18. They had 8 children; the oldest was eleven: (CNN) -- A fire has killed seven children at a farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania, authorities said. The children -- ages 7 months to 11 years -- died Tuesday night when the fire fully engulfed the Mennonite family's two-story house in Loysville, about 25 miles northwest of Harrisburg, Tom Pinkerton of the state police said ... The father was taking a nap in his milk truck after making a few stops along his delivery route, Pinkerton said. The mother was milking cows in the barn. "While mom's milking cows, her 3-year-old daughter come
  19. I went to school with a boy who had a goal to go to Hollywood. When he went around our small town talking about it his Mom would say something like, "Well, you never know." He made it to Hollywood where he became a successful agent. A couple of years ago he wrote a book. Here's one quote from his book's page at amazon.com/: “My friend Sam Haskell’s journey has taken him from rural Mississippi to the great cities of the world—including The White House and Buckingham Palace. This book will tell you exactly how he did it. He had an inspirational mother who taught him life’s lessons!”—Morgan F
  20. March is National Craft Month. What kind of crafting do you do? What kind of crafting would you like to learn more about? I've done some collage. I've also made some beaded jewelry. I'd like to do something with polymer clay. Here's a website of a French polymer clay artist I've enjoyed. If you cut and paste the url into google you can click on "translate" and you can read the website in English. Look to the left for a list of her projects and some tutorials. I think her work is amazing: http://lesethiopiques.over-blog.com/ I started a group for Georgia Crafters with
  21. I think dumbestgirlintheworld may be referring to Adderall: Adderall is a brand-name psychostimulant medication composed of racemic amphetamine aspartate monohydrate, racemic amphetamine sulfate, dextroamphetamine ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adderall Adderall Information from Drugs.com Adderall (amphetamine and dextroamphetamine) is used to treat narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). http://www.drugs.com/adderall.html
  22. I used to live in a small town. For the most part people were kind. They were not out to make an impression by cutting another person down with sharp words.
  23. Someone just started a thread about one of her poems.
  24. Pubby, I don't doubt that you've read more posts on p.com than I have. The British reporter said that one person told him "that Britain should adopt sharia punishments such as stoning and the chopping off of hands to reduce violent crime." So you're saying that there are p.com members---a "fair share" of people you describe as Christians---who support those kinds of acts---plus Bobbitt (the act of vengeful, genital dismemberment, usually involving a sharp culinary object)?
  25. Pubby, please note that you "brought up" how sharia law is being used in Britain---and stated your personal opinion on sharia law. Note that I only posted a few paragrahs from an eyewitness account written by a reporter in Britain---with a link to the article if anyone wanted to read more. I don't see anything to be "scared" about in the article. I simply thought that some might want to read a first hand account by a reporter that witnessed sharia law in Britian. I really don't know how you came up with that conclusion about Christians on p.com/ I know that I speak for myself and that desc
