Exactly! The high gas prices of summer before last was a major factor in throwing us into recession. Not the only one, mind you; but very significant and possibly the catalyst for the whole mess. Gasoline was so high that it ate up the middle class's disposable income, and they could no longer go to the stores, eat out, etc. Retail sales tanked, jobs were lost due to that, mortgages went into default, tax revenues fell...and now here we are. And the liberals want to do it to us all over again.

Regardless...your reply is typical of you, you didn't attempt to debate the real issue of drilling in the Gulf, it was to try (unsuccessfully) to discredit me. You didn't address my correct mention of the long-term safety record of the offshore drilling industry, and you didn't offer any comparative information of drilling versus continuing to be dependent on others.
