Supreme Court Rules in favor of Strip Search for Minor Offense
nschur replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Get real yourself. The jails have to keep contraband out no matter what. And IF they decided to do a strip search on this person and not that person then the lawyers would be all over them. I tell you what. You go take a job in the jail guarding these folks with no weapons on yourself. Remember I already stated LEOs themselves are not even allowed to be armed in the jail. So you will have to STAKE YOUR LIFE on the fact that absolutely NO weapons have found their way into the jail through these folks that you do not want to strip search. And guess what? I do not know of anyone that went to ja -
Supreme Court Rules in favor of Strip Search for Minor Offense
nschur replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The jail is only as safe as its weapons and drug screenings allows. Let me ask you a question Zoo. As a LEO bringing someone into the jail, EVEN I AM REQUIRED to disarm myself. I have to take my duty weapon, back up weapon and all other less than deadly weapons and either lock them in my car or in one of the lock boxes provided BEFORE I enter. That is to make sure that no inmate gains access to my weapons. And I am a sworn officer. ( Still sworn but no longer an LEO). So you some how believe that the person I am bringing into the jail to be processed in, is somehow being deprived of his rights -
When my mower can't keep up with my sorry butt. Had several more yards to do on the schedule today and the mower died on yard # 2. I think it may have joined a Union Shop or something while I wasn't looking because it just flat out said " I'm alive but I just ain't gonna cut no more grass today". Off to the shop it went and Dis is working off the back up mower now. Hopefully this will nor take long to fix and it will be ready Tues. / Wed. for all of those that might be wondering where I am. But it will likely cost me $$. Such is life.

AMERICANS BRACE FOR ANOTHER WAVE OF FORECLOSURES........
nschur replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I see an increase but not a tidalwave here. Between what I learned in the PD about observing "normal" everyday situations and those that draw the attention of the observant eye as well as my side job of lawn maintanance, I am seeing MANY homes that are now vacant and have apparantly been for some time. The yards are overgrown and then you will notice that there are no belongings or window treatments in the home. I have lived here for many years and have never seen this many vacant homes. That tells me many have already left on their own or have been evicted already. -
AMERICANS BRACE FOR ANOTHER WAVE OF FORECLOSURES........
nschur replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
That is all fine and well but some still chose to not move forward here as well. And this post is not about only GA is it. Georgia has one of the fastest eviction laws in the nation. You are lucky t do 90 days here while some of the more liberal states can take up to 1.5 years. Now 90 days is fast and in my opinion should be a little longer but that does not take into account homeowners who are actively trying to save their homes. 90 days is for someone who will not pay and won't leave. On the other hand those other states are stuck with someone who will not pay and won't leave for up to 1.5 y -
AMERICANS BRACE FOR ANOTHER WAVE OF FORECLOSURES........
nschur replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I posted on this several months ago. The banks having cleared their "court issues" are now poised to start processing all those homes where folks have been staying rent free because the banks were barred from moving forward on the foreclosures. -
You would be incorrect. I read both articles. And my comments have no bearing on the articles now do they. You know what happens when you make assumptions.

You forget that if even though only 1 net new job were added to the economy, then some here would be proclaiming that the economy was improving. And technically you could argue that they were right. And how many new jobs are required to just keep pace with population growth again? I forgot.

Well duh... (not so much to you) I have said this all along. Instead of putting all this effort and money into Global Warming, the much more obvious and immeddiate threat is pollution. And that is something that we can readily change. If I had to see money go to one or the other I would choose this one every time. And I'm not talking about "aerosols" , I'm talking about garbage and sewage as well as other chemical contaminants.

NBC Apologizes for Misleadingly Edited Zimmerman Call
nschur replied to hoohaa's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don't want their apology! I want them to go out there and get into the gatherings and THEN tell all these hornets they kicked over what they did. No last page apology no little blurb just before the end of the news. I want a full fledged PROACTIVE recission and explanation by them. They also need to be HEAVILY FINED for doing this if not prosecuted. -
George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?
nschur replied to ihaveadog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'm not sure I am getting your point Pubby. It is the JOB of the local prosecutors to bring a case. As a LEO I was free to make an arrest for probable cause at any point where I felt it existed. Certain charges did not need an arrest warrant. The others, I had to obtain a warrant. Most of the time said person was already at the jail and I then went to get the warrant by appearing before the magistrate judge. He would then issue the warrant and set the bail. LATER is where the prosecution comes in. The decide wheter or not to press forward on the merits of the case. If they felt my case was not -
George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?
nschur replied to ihaveadog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
That is why we have two legal systems. Criminal and Civil. Under the Criminal you have to have a "beyond all reasonable doubt" as far as evidence to convict. In a civil case you only have to have a "preponderance" of the evidence. He may well be found innocent in a criminal action / investigation but that does not preclude the family taking him to a civil court and winning a wrongful death case. Look at OJ, that is exactly what happened. -
George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?
nschur replied to ihaveadog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
From the transcripts it sounds as thigh he stopped following Martin and was heading back to the truck to meet with PD. He even said he lost sight of him. -
For taking the time to talk to me. Your input and information was greatly appreciated. :good:

Just wanted to post an update. My neighbor managed to corral two AWOL pups a little while ago. They are now back at home.

I am so sad to hear this. She had a lot of great input for children like Dis jr.

I know you meant "pixie" but the first picture that came to my mind was a bunch of FAs on POGO STICKS...

I know Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Clonts / Hendrix but I do not about a Mt. Zion Church rd. Where is that?

Thank you sir, I greatly appreciate it. My daughter is pretty upset. I did not realize how much the Akita, which is mom's, made her feel better. The female lab is supposed to be her dog and we still have her. The Akita stayed inside a lot and was generally outside with them while they played. Ironic that the kids dogs played with them less than mom's.
-
Jack and Chloe. Neither are afraid of people, but the Akita can be a little reserved. If you pet him he will roll right over and show you his belly so you can rub it.
-
I went there this morning and made the report. Douglas county is closed today. I should add that the lab is not chipped and the Akita is. Both are very freindly towards people but are large dogs. Anyone that lives in that area and likes to let their dogs "roam", fair warning. It may not be a wise idea right now.

I might be missing something here. Georgia and many other states are "right to work states". That means the employer can let you go whenever they want for whatever reason. The "offset" to doing this is that unless they were fired for "cause", the employee will be able to obtain UEBs and that goes against the employer. If the employer is willing to take the hit, what can be done to stop them?

It appears that the DW decided to swap the dogs. Two Choco Labs and 1 Akita. The labs stay together and the Akita is inside with us or by herself. Short back story, We know Akitas generally do not like othe dogs of the same sex. She wanted the Akita and I said no. She went and got it (she was a rescue) while I was on duty. Of course the two females do not get along so they stay seperate therefore the "dog swapping thing". We have to go from the garage door to the gate which is about 5 feet and basically a 2o foot chute. So the Akita took off this morning. Well what do you expect when you try t

Here is an interesting question for you. How many small - medium sized businesses that had slightly more than 50 employees, laid off enough employess to drop down to 49 employess? Or are moving regular employees to temp / sub contractor status? I really do not expect an answer, the question is merely to make a point.

I am glad things are going good for you. We have had 3 fire fighters resign in the last month. That may not mean much to you but when a professional fire fighter leaves a county like Cobb, without being asked to, that really goes a LONG way to indicating the moral issues with the employees. I can only personally remember 2 in the 15 years before this year. Retirement is not the same. We have one on our crew that has been there for 5 years. That doesn't mean much except that we have not had a pay raise in 5 years and it means he has not ever had one since he started. The PD is even worse. I hav
