  1. Totally wrong. Uses the "War on Drugs" as an excuse for theft. Guilty unless proven innocent. Maybe we *are* becoming Mexico. Unless revoked, the next best thing that could happen would be for them to stop letting the departments keep the money and make them hand it over to the state. That would remove the incentive to grab all they can.
  2. Whitey - It's not a matter of being willing to do anything. I myself think that any commercial flights out of there will last 60 days max before it's given up as a bad idea. However, admit it, the protests and votes have done nothing but *ensure* that this asset is divorced from county control by those voted out of office to ensure the project's completion. What will be interesting is to see if Pubby's prediction that Delta will now attempt to move the airport under a "Regional" window where they can more likely influence it's growth completely independent of the county will come to p
  3. Did you *really* expect otherwise? Nothing says "Do what you want" than being voted out of office.
  4. Did the Anti-airport people *really* think that the airport supporters that were voted out of office were really just going to give up? You can protest all you want but that vote will happen and then it will be all over. Unless the Delta lawyers can figure out something to sue against (and with The Firm writing the contacts for the principles I'm sure they have dotted all I's and crossed all Ts) it's all over.
  5. Is it a flip phone? I had the same problem years ago with a flip phone, turned out the cable between the two parts was going bad. I had to get a new one.
  6. The pipe up Harmony Grove from Cobb is way too small. They added the pumping station on Harmony Grove to boost the pressure to get more water through, but yea, it seems to pop a pipe every couple of months.
  7. I haven't heard of us having any planes on combat air patrol. That means 5 to 30 minutes from the warning to having the planes airborne, depending on the alert status the Air Force is at right now. (Or the Navy for that matter) Then they have to get to where the incoming plane is. I haven't heard of us deploying Patriot batteries around the East Coast, so I assume planes would be the only defense. I'm not sure how good the coastal radar coverage is, we used to have lots of pot planes coming in from South America that no one ever saw. The point is, if they drop down to 500 ft or s
  8. As one who has flown Radio Controlled model aircraft, I can say that getting it off the ground and flying around is not NEAR as difficult as getting back on the ground in one piece. That act is pretty much a controlled collision with the ground without damage. An intentional impact is much easier. Navigation might have been a problem at one time, but if Iraqi pilots teach them how to use the built in waypoints and the autopilot, getting the bird to it's destination really wouldn't be a problem. Heck, handheld GPS might be able to be hacked to do it. I will say that I'd hate to be a c
  9. So did I for a long time. I only went shooting once or twice in about a 25 year period. I only started back when my FIL talked me into going Deer hunting with him. Yep. Or at least a bolt action. Still have my great grandfather's single shot .22 rifle that I learned on. He was a butcher in the 30s and 40s in Brunswick, Ga and killed many a hog/cow with it right behind the store. I had a co-worker that tried to teach a friend of his how to shoot with a semi-auto AR-15 type rifle. After the first shot she spun around with the rifle pointed at everyone behind the firing
  10. It comes from the Liberal expansion of "Rights" . Education is now a "Right" you get by breathing rather than responsibility you earn by meeting all the requirements.
  11. FYI: The story seems to have been expanded with a lot of the same comments we have been saying here. Interesting that the family was from New Jersey, with very strict gun control laws. It's always been my observation that when any authority restricts access to anything, it only increases the desire to experience the restricted item. My dad told me I could see any of his guns anytime I wanted to as long as he had time to be there and make sure it was empty. I knew if I touched it without him, I'd not sit down for several days without a reminder to never do it again. However, just kno
  12. Yea, we do. I guess that's why it's good that there are all kinds of people. I heard one guy put it "If this builder built his houses the way programmers write programs, the first woodpecker that came along could destroy the entire neighborhood."
  13. I didn't see anything in the article about having adults pretending to be kids, but the idea of having a bunch of 20-30 year old guys in a high school with 15-18 yo girls is a uncomfortable thought.
  14. I don't think that most people do it intentionally, it's just an offshoot of our optimistic society. "What could go wrong?" I've seen many, many people that just don't look at consequences of their actions. (Our lawmakers are a good example of that!) In your case the cuteness factor of little Jimmy on the floor with the flopping fish overrode the thought of how many different ways a kid could break something like that. Me on the other hand as an engineer, when any decision has to be made really do try to figure out as many ways as possible that whatever I'm doing could be a disaster.
  15. Do you still have the old one? Any way of moving the good clips from the other into this one?
  16. Value was up 6.01 percent, Taxes are up $106.51 (2.84%) By my calculations (approx): School tax up $132 Count Bond up $15 Fire Tax up $22 County Tax down $58 State Tax down $5.00 Looked up a few of the neighbors tax bills: Up 7.74% Down 3.08% (Believe over 70, so no school tax) Up 4.65% Up 7.90% Up 16.05% Up 2.93% (Believe over 65, 50% school tax) Down 3.25% (Value didn't change much, so county savings dominates) Down 4.82% (Raw lot, so only $5 change in taxes, state and County rate decrease) (Dang, land is valued at 6K an acre!) School board
  17. I read about using VPNs to avoid throttle points a few weeks back. What service do you use?
  18. The service is bad enough, especially with them running the price up from $42 a month tor $49 a month in the last year or so, for me to seriously consider switching. I've been using AT&T DSL for over 10 years now. 19. Such as: http://www.kingston.com http://www.adobe.com and a slew of others. Can't get to Kingston on my phone either which is also AT&T. Anybody else on AT&T having issues on some sites? What about comcast? (I'm thinking of switching at the end of the year, AT&T is ignoring the DSL market trying to push UVERSE, which has the same sucky upload rates) Thanks.
  20. Go to your name in the upper right hand corner. Click on it, then select "My Settings" On the left side menu, select "Manage attachments" Select and delete!! My oldest is 2009, I think I need to clean up myself.... Edit to add: Ouch!! actually I had them back to 2005. I *REALLY* need to clean up more often.... Also, the delete button is on the bottom of the list... weird.
  21. Yep. Picked up some stuff for deer season. Nice place, little different item selection than bass pro, it will be nice to have both so close.
  22. Also asking to have their Tax Validation raised. Hard to go in and claim it's worth less than you are offering it for the general market.
  23. Well Pubby said in the other thread he's all for raising taxes on undeveloped land to force people to sell to developers, so I'm not sure that even shooting them will work. The big developers will just then move out of state to avoid the taxes.
