Am I mistaken, or does the local education system have less and less to say about what happens?

Because of the agreement Georgia made to get "Race to the Top" money teachers will now be evaluated on student performance. I wondered what some of the teachers and others on p.com think about this change. Link to story: http://www.ajc.com/news/teachers-to-be-graded-792562.html By Jaime Sarrio The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Hoping to attract and keep top teachers in public schools, Georgia is changing the way educators are hired, paid and rated through a new evaluation system with far greater emphasis on student performance. For subjects where students take standardized t

I tried to send you a pm recently and got a similar message.

That mother, and I use the term loosely, was at the very least guilty of verbal abuse of her children. There is actually still a law on the books making the "F" word illegal to use in the presence of a child under the age of 14. I think it is 14 may be younger. I bet the kids teachers get to hear some of her "teachings" in their classrooms. I can see why you were upset SusieQ404.

Mitt Romney's plan is destroying the Massachusetts economy and is a proven failure. He is not even on my radar for President because of it. I do see your point about the topic and I am sorry for the hi-jack. -
Hey! Good to see you. Hope all is well and the chickens are laying lots of eggs.

They have revised their estimate up by $115 Billion. They admit to being off by that much and because of the way they arrive at their estimates you really don't believe their figures are anywhere near correct do you? LTD is right by the way. Source for the first revision and the admission that they were mistaken. http://www.cbo.gov/f...sLtr_HR3590.pdf I never used the words lying and corrupt. -
Check with the Dallas Theater. There is a nice civic center behind it. http://www.gatheringguide.com/event_directory/ga_georgia/event_venue_4797.html

New Ag Commissioner, Gary Black, wants to remove

Thanks! At least something positive came from this thread. I now have a list of good books to read. I just looked at the poll at the bottom of the AJC article on Black taking down the art. 64% of the folks who have voted are against their removal. -

Sorry if my comments came off that way. I did not think that you thought it was fact. -

Yes I know. Too late, I already read the snarky comments. I have read Steinbeck and a host of other great works of FICTION! I do agree that some books stimulate great discussions with students just as great works of art can stimulate great discussions! I also know you should never mistake fiction for fact. It is easy to do given some of the movies made from books and historical works of fiction. -
They found they could not get that by some of the folks up for re-election. Hey, most of them lost anyway. Their goal is still Public Option!

Thank you. This is what I found on it. "Cane River is a work of fiction "deeply rooted in years of research, historical fact, and family lore." http://januarymagazine.com/fiction/caneriver.html I will have to read it. Sounds like a good book. -

He did not campaign on the issue of hiding historic paintings. Paintings that not only are valuable but depict the changes in farming methods and the progress Georgia has made. He is the one that made a big deal about it. -

Think she said it was FICTION. -
Since you used the word "YOU" I will answer for myself. I am quite capable of getting all of the information I need. My doctor would be the first place I would go for that info. No, I don't want to rely on the government for their version of correct information. Have you ever heard the expression "close enough for government work"? There is a reason for that expression.
-
I can right now but if the folks who have been in power have their way we will have no choice about who our doctor is. That is what the government option is all about.

Some of these thoughts ran through my mind too. Farming methods in Georgia have progressed tremendously. The folks who made the farms productive, as depicted in the paintings, were not the guys wearing the fancy suits. We have come a long way and we should recognize the changes, the people who made that journey, and what they achieved along the way. -

Sorry, I don't think that is quite equal to valuable historic paintings. Some of us are paying attention and we will see what he does next. -

I had high hopes for the new guy. I think with all of the really important stuff he could have chosen to do this is a real blunder. -
I am so sorry!

If the counseling is slanted in any way it could effect the choice. Facts are needed and they are already given. To my knowledge they have always been provided. Government does not need to be involved.
