It is being reported that Arizona Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D) and at least 3 staff members have been shot at a public event. She has reportedly been shot at point blank range in the head. Early reports say 12 others shot. http://www.tucsonwee...ot-this-morning

Governor Elect Deal has hinted that more cuts could come. Education funds have been slashed to the bone already so I was encouraged to read this AJC article. It is possible, according to insiders, that the spending plan may cut costs by consolidating government agencies, including the one that oversees the state’s pre-K programs. Yep! Seasonal help is the reason. I do hope that there is optimism about the new congress and the changes they may bring. I truly hope in the coming year it will get better and stay better.

It is a scary thought that our schools could be used to push an agenda. I think we should all take an active interest in what the curriculum and books contain. I don't like the idea of banning age appropriate books but I don't want some things put on the self that the child is too young to understand. I loved Harry Potter and could not understand why some wanted it banned. It is a total work of fiction. Some books do not belong in schools and common sense is all you need to know that.

So your solution is to change the words of the author for fear that the book will be banned. I think the schools who are banning this book are an affront to the education system. This is a first step in doing exactly what the so called proponents of the move would really like to do. I suggest to you that what they really want is the power to ban anything they want. A first step to what Iran and others do maybe?

The whole idea is absurd. I think it is important to understand how far we have come and the only way to know that is to know what it was like in the past. To change the words of one of the outstanding writers of all time is scary. It is the beginning of true censorship. The very people who argue for this are the ones who claim to be so against censorship. If they want to stop the use of that word they need to start with some of the music the kids listen to all of the time. Guess who does most of that music? Political correctness is killing this society.

I'll be watching too and I will expect good things. I won't revisit the election because we need her to do what is expected of her by her constituents. You really don't have a clue as to what drives her. It is not the Republican Party. I am in hopes that it is conservative ideas. No, I did not campaign for her but she is now my Representative and I hope she succeeds.

Some of the oil rigs have been moved to the gulf off Mexico. I doubt they will be coming back. Thanks Obama once again for helping to keep oil prices up.

Dr. Barge has a great background in education. I hope he keeps his word and changes it. The legislators would have no reason to be involved if he does.
