  4. I hope to be able to offer at least one more family picnic/horseback riding day and one more day camp before school starts back in August. I will put together some pictures of the day camp for you.

  6. On Monday, June 25th, we are conducting a one day horsemanship camp for Operation Military Kids through Horses4Heroes. If you would like, I can send you pictures from the camp to share with your heroes. You are welcome to come and watch the activities, if you like. The camp is for children with a parent that is currently deployed. This group is coming from Chatooga Co.
  7. My daughter, granddaughter and I went to Mentone, AL for the weekend a few years ago. We stayed at the Mountain Laurel Inn Bed & Breakfast, did some sight seeing and shopping. We went horseback riding at a local stable and watched chick flicks in our suite at night. We had a great time and plan to go back soon.
  8. It doesn't seem that it's been that long ago since Sherri came to one of my camps to learn how to conduct a horse camp. But I guess it was 7 or 8 years ago; time flies!
  9. My dream has always been to work with horses. I started teaching horsemanship part-time in 1984 and switched to full time 3 years ago.
  10. I found that helping others was the best way to take my mind off myself and my own heartache. I have also learned from experience that things really do happen for a reason.
  11. Thank you to my students and parents for offering their help as we celebrate Armed Forces Day. Also, a big thank you to Rodney at Rodney's BBQ for the use of his ice cream freezer! We're expecting a big turnout based on the number of responses from the Georgia National Guard, Veterans Adm., Dobbins AFB and Operation Military Kids of Chatooga Co.
  12. Coyotes are becoming a big problem in East Paulding. Some of my students saw one in my next door neighbor's driveway at about 1:00 in the afternoon a couple of weeks ago. They killed one of barn cats last week.
  13. It was so nice to meet some of our local heroes and their families at the open house yesterday. Thank you, again, for all you do.

LauraLeigh Farms will be holding an open house this Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. for all our local firemen, police officers, paramedics, EMTs, hospice/critical care nurses and special needs teachers and their families. This is a free day of horseback riding, games, food and fun for the entire family. Just our way of saying thanks to all our local heroes.   17. On Saturday, May 19th, Armed Forces Day, LauraLeigh Farms and stables across the nation will participate in Operation Free Ride. An event offered through Horses4Heroes. This is an opportunity for active military personnel, veterans, wounded warriors and their families to spend a day at a farm or stable riding and learning about horses. We are looking for volunteers to help with games (horseshoes, hay bale races, bean bag toss, etc...), cake walks, serving food, etc... We also need to borrow a couple of ice cream freezers.   19. Someone stole the lights along our driveway several years ago. We never replaced them. Now kids are shooting the LauraLeigh Farms sign on my mailbox post.

  21. Since there is rain in the forecast for this weekend, we are rescheduling the Horses4Heroes open house for Sunday, May 6th. The hours will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Remember, this is a free event for all our local heroes (active duty military personnel, veterans, reservists, police, fire, paramedics, EMTs, first responders, critical care and hospice nurses, and special needs teachers)and their families.
