  1. Me, too. Sadly. If people accept that change is impossible, it becomes impossible. You have accepted that it is impossible. Fortunately, others have not.
  2. I'm glad to see we agree. Complacency will certainly maintain the status quo.
  3. I never asked you or anyone to "be impressed." And I'm seeing that among some, it's NOT OK to try to understand where those among the OWS who actually have some idea of what they are protesting are coming from, and to try to understand where there are common elements between their beef and the TEA Party and maybe, JUST MAYBE, try to see that there are reasons people are generally upset and focus on THAT instead of just discounting the whole movement as if it was foolish rubbish. There are common elements, and they do matter. My point was that neither "movement" is filled with "pure" id
  4. Oh!!! My bad. You have never met them, so they must not exist. Just like any articulate people in the OWS crowd...you've never met them, so they must be someone's made-up fantasy. I get it now. I just didn't realize your personal experience set the bar. I ADORE Herman Cain. Just for the record, and all that.
  5. While I don't know their credentials, I have heard a few very articulate people interviewed within the OWS ranks. I will agree they are few and far between, but they are there, and I respect their reasons for being there. That said, it seems that there are bunches of people who just want something they can't even articulate and want it for free, whatever it is. I don't discount them, though. I think to do so would be unjust. Let them have their protest. Let them make their case(s). I think the wheat will rise from the chaff, and I support their right to protest.
  6. While I think this may be true for SOME, I think this is a gross mischaracterization of many others. As unfair as it has been to paint TEA party folks with a broad brush, so too is it to do likewise to the OWS participants. There ARE racists in the TEA party movement, but not all TEA party supporters are racist.
  7. My TWO degrees are PRICELESS to me in what they have given back. They were worth every second and every cent I spent on them. While I am not working directly in the fields I studied, what I do is directly related to what I studied, and what I learned through the opportunities those degrees made possible because I had them. Someone who is 18-23 years old shouldn't be making decisions about what they want to do for the rest of their lives. Few of us have that much certainty, and most of us change. But an education is never a bad idea, and sometimes it means more if you work for a while i
  8. There are too many things we don;t know the answers to to conclude absent of those facts that the mom is guilty. I feel pretty certain if there was evidence of some of the things people here allege, Mom would be in a jail cell and not giving self-incriminating interviews so freely to every media outlet that requests her time. I don't have any idea what happened, but I don't discount an abduction while Mom was passed out drunk. It may have been a stranger, but likely wasn't. But I don't know any more than anyone else posting here, and I'm not ready to convict Mom just because she dr
  9. I don;t think anyone has ever accused them of being smart.
  10. I think you're correct. From the NBC interview: "Nearly two weeks after her child was reported missing on Oct. 4, Bradley also has changed her story about when she last saw baby Lisa. She now says the last time she saw her daughter was at 6:40 p.m. on the night of her disappearance, nearly four hours earlier than the time of 10:30 p.m. that she originally told police. Irwin, the child’s father, was asked if he believed there was anything that Bradley was withholding from the police in light of this change in her story. " I could swear I heard earlier today that she said she'd checked o
  11. Me, too. I think of Elizabeth Smart, Jaycee Dugard, and Shawn Hornbeck. And there was that young woman here in GA just recently who was stolen as a baby in NJ and reunited with her family this year. It can happen.
  12. Nah. This is pcom. No thread is ever "pure." But in fact, I WAS asking about what I missed. Anyone who quit watching months or years ago really couldn't help me much!
  13. In the interview today, I believe she said she put the baby to bed at 6:40, and the last time she CHECKED on her was 10:30. I could be wrong, but that's what I understood. Not that she hadn't seen her since she put her to bed at 10:30, but that she put her to bed at 6:40 and CHECKED on her last at 10:30. But...who knows? It would be sad if she got smashed, someone took the baby, and the focus is now on her because she got smashed. True, she was irresponsible. I think that isn't in question. BUT...that doesn't mean she killed her baby and hid the body. It's possible, but without any
  14. Exactly. As much has been said about this case, it has never been said that she left the children alone and unattended when she went to the store. To say that she did is pure speculation. It has never been said, or even suggested. And if it had been the case? I think it would have come out, unless there was some solid reason it has never been mentioned.
  15. Yes...but what we don't know is...maybe the neighbor was at her house with the kids while she and her brother went to the store? The story is bad enough without adding anything to it. Nothing has ever been said about her leaving her kids home alone while she went to the store.
  16. LOL! Ok, this thread is now about lost shows! I also lost patience with Fringe. I liked it the first few episodes...then, it just irritated me. So I quit watching it. I like the new "American Horror Story," but I suspect that one has the potential to be cut from my viewing list also, if it plans to just string me along with silly, perplexing plots.
  17. I completely understand giving up on a show that frustrates you. I did that with "Lost." I still love House. And this thread was about what I missed, not about why anyone stopped watching it.
  18. Yes, but with all of the interest in this case and all of the investigation, that would have been discovered already by LE. It would have been one of the first things they asked for--those cell calls.
  19. But...even if the cell phones were gone, there would still be a record of the calls.
  20. Underneath your original topic, click on "Edit." When the edit window opens, click on "Use full editor" (depending on your view, you may only be able to see "Use fu..." or something like that in the lower right corner of that window). That will pull up your whole topic, including the title, for editing.
  21. There's a HUGE difference in working towards your dream and "chasing" it. By the very nature of the term, "chasing" indicates that it's trying to get away, and just might.
  22. Thank you! Wow...I don't remember that at all...I must have missed the episode? Last episode I remember, he was getting beaten up in prison. Like, seriously whacked.
  23. Wasn't he still in prison last episode? Did I miss an episode? He's back in the hospital. I either missed or simply forgot something...someone help me, please? lowrider? Anyone?
