It's not just state employees feeling this kind of pain. I work for a major corporation, headquartered outside of Georgia. In the past 5-6 years we've endured almost quarterly mass firings, no raises and increased insurance payments with increased deductibles and prescription prices. State employees aren't the only one in the boat.

I agree with you whole-heartedly about the abandoned carts at end caps being in the way. At least if the person is with them in the aisle, you can ask them to move.

The scabs/black spots look similar to a problem one of my dogs had. It was a staph infection and was treated by antibiotics. Pretty simple. Poor fur baby. Good luck in your search for a home for her!

Last week I read the Storyteller by Jodi Picoult and The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks. Enjoyed both. I started Low Pressure by Sandra Brown last night. I love Dean Koontz; most anything by him is good. He had a couple wacky, out there ones but overall he's one of my favorites.

Flour the carrot chunks lightly before you add them to the batter. It helps to keep them from sinking. I've done it before (tip from my grandma) for big chocolate chunks in cookies and fresh blueberries in muffins. And YUM....carrot cake is my favorite!
