  1. Would you like some Eacon and Bagges with that??
  2. LR, I love reading your posts. Like I said there are much more important things in this world than spelling and grammar. There is not a thread on here to which you don't contribute something positive.
  3. Ah, so very right you are. But it doesn't negate the fact that if you want your children to learn true history, you have to be in control. I honestly believe one reason why PC schools test so low is that some teachers here assume all parents are undereducated therefore they cannot know what is best for their child when it comes to learning. Perhaps that was true 30 years ago (which I even doubt), but I think not so much now. I have always been an advocate of teachers and in fact wanted to be one when I grew up. Someone had other plans for me. When I see Paulding teachers posting
  4. Going back to what NC-17 said about teaching our kids what we want them to know. It's a little difficult when they go to school and tell the teacher but Mom and Dad said that wasn't true, then proceed to share with the class the information as discussed at home. How does the teacher react?? Most times - It's not in the book, it won't be on the test, therefore your parents could be wrong. The only way to truly ensure what "your" children are being taught is to home school them. Heaven help the kids who challenge the "all knowing what is best for our children teachers".
  5. Y'all are cracking me up. I used to be a grammar Nazi as well but in my old age I have decided there are more important things to worry about, especially since my kids are now grown and now they can pass it on to their "youngins".
  6. Not sure, but when I was coming home from Hiram this evening there was a truck with a backhoe on it. At the light at 120 and 278 some guy jumped out of the truck, rolled on the grass in the median pulled his shirt off and jumped back in the truck. Thank goodness he was just a passenger and not driving. When I passed the truck, he had his head leaning out the window and he was very messed up. Hollaring at all the cars going by. Totally wierd.
  7. They never have a problem spending our money. We are broke, they don't care. We need to fill out the paperwork, we need to be counted so we can be properly represented in Washington but I agree with the overkill and overspend.
  8. I was actually on 278 at the red light on 61 when they came through about 1:30. I have to say I was moved to tears, how do you thank someone who has put their life on the line for you?? Sorry, no camera just happened on it, expected them to already have gone through.
  9. I knew I shouldn't have opened this...........
  10. I agree about the parent involvement. But if they wait til the new school year, he'll miss out on all the summer time activities, our unit is active year around. In fact everyone that wants to is camping at a council camp ground this summer, all the Cub Scouts.
  11. Individual units charge weekly, monthy, quarterly, bi-annual or annual dues. Those fees go to program and achievement awards. Each unit has several fund raisers throughout the year to help cover those costs, along with activities and encampments. Our unit is $88.00 per year or $22.00 per quarter. Every unit is different based on the level of activity. I think there are around 20 Cub Scout Packs (7-10 year olds) and about 9-10 Boy Scout Troops (11-18 year olds) units in Paulding County. We also have a couple of Venture Crews which are co-ed boys and girls ages 14-20. Here is the web
  12. Why are they taxing anything instead of cutting unnecessary costs?? Teachers, firemen and policemen are not unnecessary. Or what about eliminating jaunts and perks, parties and such?? Wonder if they will do away with paying every state employee for Confederate Memorial Day?? In the real world we do what we have to to keep the company afloat. What about drinking water instead of having it mixed with scotch? What about paying for their own meals?? The government could take a few clues from the private sector. Choices are not always easy but you do what you have to do.
  13. Shoot Tennessee is a great day trip, too. And what about those that are going to quit?? This is not the way to generate income, cutting the budget is the only way to "live within your means" and I'm not talking about furloughs for the little guys. Some of those in the upper levels of government need to see what it's like to have to do without the way our teachers, firemen and policemen are having to do.
  14. How many do you need?? Amazon has lots, if you don't need lots I probably have a couple of 50 ft strings somewhere. Amazon
  15. Welcome Home Baritone Is this just another visit or are you staying state side forever??
  16. Some people just want things to fit their agenda, doesn't matter what is right or wrong. It needs to be done their way, and we certainly should not categorize anyone as an enemy combatant, even if they blow up the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, The White House, The Center for Disease Control, the Sears Tower Willis Tower or a military base. They need to have the same rights as any US Citizen, don't y'all know that??? Sheese, you need to go find the koolaid source Jughaid uses, then perhaps you will understand. Dang, I only wish I was that smart, it must be lonely up there on t
  17. No, no, no........... we married really young and just "grew up" differently.
  18. We had spaghetti and meatballs. Nothing special just the norm.
  19. I'm old, I use Facebook, I have reconnected with lots of old friends. But I'm not sure what a cyber-affair is. Is it an exchange about what you want to happen or is it actually stepping out to rekindle a relationship? I guess what I'm asking is, is it just talking about stuff or actually doing stuff? Don't laugh at me, 'cause I really don't know.
  20. I like you, you seem to be a sincere person that cares about people. I also love your witty sense of humor............you keep me in stitches most of the time.
  21. I think it's a Northeastern Yankee thing. Never had it, but I've talked about it before.
  22. It's very nice up there but I heard it wasn't the same without La Prades. I've never actually been there, just very close to it.
