  1. We have no term limits............we need to work on that.
  2. I'm watching. How many times is He going to say he won??? This is a joke. I think the republicans are doing OK, but there is no way this is a meeting to reach an agreement. He just tried to shut John McCain down when he talked about his deal with the Pharmas.
  3. We have Atkins, they are super nice and can install any system you need. Atkins
  4. Well there is no doubt this will be a hot issue in July. I still don't understand why the "Party" didn't provide a viable candidate for the people in the 19th District. It's a shame they have not been represented during this entire legislative session, will Mr. Stout do what's best for the 19th between now and April when the Congress is dismissed for the year? I have to say, this is absolutely embarrassing for the folks of Paulding County, it includes all of us by default and he nor Mr. Richardson are/were my representative. Will the "Party" have a viable and trustworthy candidate to

    BRAGGING

I have the exact same problem, even when confronted they just shrug. Guess it's time to go to court.
  6. Thanks JohnnyJ Let's see if I did that right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBR2G-iI3-I
  7. I'm kind of glad I'm not in that district.
  8. I guess I am basing my opinion on personal experience, when we moved here 26 years ago many school systems in the Chicago area were moving to this year-round program. Most of them have abandoned them and returned to the old calendar. I think we are way behind the curve here.
  9. There is no harm in trying anything to achieve improvement but when budget constraints are already mandating furlough days, I don't think this is the right time to "try" it. Maybe we should just do like they did in Rhode Island and fire all the teachers and rehire those that truly want to teach the kids. Here's some interesting info from Year-round school debate:
  10. I'm not saying it's an easy job, but the BOE must look beyond the teachers and Paulding County to make those changes and adjustments. They have been pushing for year round school for at least 20 years, I don't see the advantage. When none of our elemetary schools are in the top 100 for the state and only two are in the top 300, don't you think we need to focus on teaching instead of how many days off between grading periods are convenient?? (you know I love you and am enjoying this civil conversation ) I honestly do not believe longer school years are the answer for improving education
  11. Perhaps, but based on the information from the state and federal short falls don't you think it would have been in the best interest of everyone to err on the side of caution for the next couple of years?? I believe that is a huge problem here in Paulding County and most of the state for that matter, very few appear to look at the overall picture. They move forward with their agenda because they have the degrees and know what's best for our kids. They have had several furloughed days this year, before anyone voted on the calendar. Not rocket science to figure out things were just not
  12. And then there's this: <snip> Huffington Post
  13. Well, that kind of blows this stupid calendar the Board passed. So much for them knowing what is best for our kids. I just don't understand how lengthening the school year from the first week of August to the last week of May will somehow make our kids smarter?? Looks like they forgot to take the budget in to consideration when they were planning this calendar, they are so smart.
  14. You got it Tide Girl, prayers for your dad and family. ((((hugs))))
  15. Moving it back up for them to see.
  16. And see, I tried to defend you and you come out like a tiger. Your articles are so well written and you have a wonderful ability to get your thoughts down without getting ugly. Why do you sometimes do that here??? You're a smart guy and have some great qualities, don't let us only see the ugly side, K??
  17. Whoops Caped Crusader, didn't mean to steal the thunder. There can never be enough food for hungry families. I think this is a great idea and the private school thing is a also great idea. Many of the Christian Schools may already have a food bank, but some may not. What about some Home School groups as well??
  18. Dang, was that really necessary? Do you think that comment makes you any better than those guys bashing Paulding County on the AJC site?? I'm sorry Pubby, I just am in shock that you would even type that. You know the written word thing
  19. Yeah!! One of my favorites, I love chicken You can eat turkey too, right?? Are you using Bisquick?? What ever you do, don't stir them for the first 10 minutes even if they look like they are coming out of the pot. Remember they will grow so don't make them too big to start. Enjoy some for me. Yummy.
  20. Good for you MWE for asking and a big shout out to Harbor Bay Landscaping for pitching in. :yahoo: :yahoo:
  21. Boy Scouts have just started their Scouting for Food drive, we will be doing this all month. Be looking for bags placed on your door knobs and a scout will be back to get them usually within a week. In the past all donations for Paulding County went directly to Helping Hands, by the end of the month there should be a huge restocking. However, it won't last long. Scouts do Scouting for food all year but put a huge push on it around March or April. If anyone wants a Scout bag to fill, PM me and I'll bring one by Thursday or Friday.
  22. Zicam has worked for me twice this winter. Have to take it early, maybe it's not to late. Good luck.
  23. I think we have several members on here that live in that neighborhood.
