Call me crazy, but I really wish, in a doctor's office, they'd have a no-scent policy. I can't even count the times I've come in with a sick kid, a cold, bronchitis, etc - and have the staff's perfume make it that much worse.

My Dr suggested these to me but I passed on them. I have a hard enough time getting to sleep these days. I don't need to clean the house like a tweaker at 3am. I've found that upping my protein and cutting out bread, pasta and potatoes almost completely has helped immensely with food cravings. I'm not hungry all the time if I start my day with eggs and bacon. If I just have cereal, yogurt, or skip it all together, I'm more apt to run to the taco bell and yell out a combo number with a Mt. Dew. If I eat something in the AM, I have my 'wits' about me, so to speak. As for energy, I've been ta

What about getting a property management company take care of it? Getting mixed up with 'friends of friends' seems like a hassle and a potential problem later. Good luck!

The OP wanted information regarding being published with the help of a literary agent. I was giving advice based on that. Agents will never ask for money up front. They typically will take a 10% or 15% cut of your advance... which is found money to a writer, right? You had nothing before -- they bust their ass getting you the best deal on paper, and then you give them a cut... My point is, There is no upfront investment other than your time. Sorry if that seemed a little harsh, but your statement came across as misinformation. Having an agent is pretty priceless when it come

No. Absolutely Not. A literary agent only gets paid when you get an advance. There IS NO expense. They represent you and work out your contract when you get one. Follow Yog's Law... money flows TO the author, not FROM the author.

I hear ya. Tell her not to give up! I'm not with a lit agent right now, but when I was looking for one, I had over 100 rejections for one book. Then within a week, I sold both my books to pubs. Boom. It's a case of talent + luck with them right now. It's hard work, but so worth it.

I'm an author. I have two books published with two different publishers. What does she want to achieve from publishing? To make a "career" out of it, or just for mom and pop to have a copy of her book? The answer to this question will help with people giving advice. If she's looking for a lit agent, check out preditors & editors when looking. Also google them for Absolute Write links. If she's already sending agents queries, Query Tracker is a good source. Stay away from Publish America. If you don't believe PA is bad, just google "publish america scam." Hope that
