  1. lol...... I get enough "complaints in general" with two teenagers and life's everyday stuff !!! You can relate. So try to keep it to school stuff..... lol !!! Ya'll can keep me busy enough with that !!!!!
  2. I do appreciate the open forums as well as a community member and a board member. They are invaluable. It helps to keep up with what is happening in our county. It is just discouraging when the original post is stated in a manner that the community might take as truth without getting more information to verify facts. It is always good to ask questions so misinformation does not spread like wildfire. Once it is spread, it is much harder to extinguish whether it is correct or not. I do not think it is always on purpose, sometimes it is just a misunderstanding. None of us are perfect
  3. I see your point. I guess what I was referring to is passing on information as an announcement (which could be taken as fact) rather than posting a question to get clarification. Rather that "this is happening" stated as a fact which can scare people needlessly , "is this happening?" opens the question for all so that the information can explained or clarified. You are right, it is easier to "post" and answer to clarify information to a mass audience. I do not work at a computer for most of the day so I do appreciate it when someone brings these posts to my attention so that I can t
  4. JSC, I was not trying to indicate outsourcing has not been mentioned. Only that some of the information in the post was incorrect regarding that there is a planned future "vote". The post said the board would be voting on this? To my knowledge there is not a plan to vote at this time. The request mentioned in the meeting was regarding a proposal for bid. We were told that there was a meeting to be proactive and inform the custodial staff of the request for proposal to bid so that there could be open communication. The superintendent would have to make a recommendation and it would ha
  5. I am sure everyone no matter their job would like to be paid more. I think if you ask our local drivers it is not the rate of hourly pay that makes it the MOST difficult. It is the lack of hours available, the cost of the insurance in relation to the gross pay, and the responsibility they have on a daily basis. Traffic, inconsiderate drivers, weather, etc. are not fun for anyone to drive through much less in a huge, loud, bus full with our communities most precious treasures (our kids). It is difficult to navigate the roads while at the same time supervising 40-70 students with your back t
  6. I am thankful that custodians and others are aware and sharing their concerns. I agree that we all need to stay informed so that items that concern us (citizens) do not just slide through. I try to be informed and transparent but if there is information that our board needs to know, please encourage communication.
  7. Stradial, I thank you for your trust. It is appreciated and NOT taken for granted. I even agree with you on the other comment as well. That is yet to be determined.
  8. I am thankful for each and every call, text, email, face-to-face that I have encountered regarding outsourcing or any other concern that is in regard to our local schools. If you hear something that you have questions regarding, why not just email and ask? It is sad that so many are losing sleep over items that may never occur. :(
  9. We have some great, dedicated employees who go above and beyond for our students because they truly care. What will we end up with if this happens? Please let our state legislators and governor that we value the individuals who serve our community's students each school day!
  10. Blah, I am not sure of many of the identity of some of the posters regarding this subject but you, Mojo, LPPT, NJ, and a few others on here know me and I hope you know that I would not blindly listen to some consultant when it affects our students, employees, taxpayers, and community. I thank those who have contacted me and who still have a glimpse of trust in neighbors who are simply trying to serve. Proposal for bid has been mentioned but that is all.
  11. The superintendent mentioned to me getting a proposal for bid. To date, that is the extent of this discussion. It has yet be on any agenda? I have received phone calls, emails, text, and face to face inquires at church and Walmart to which I have answered honestly, heartfelt, and to the best of my knowledge. Thankfully, there were a few of our custodians at the last board meeting to see that this is not being discussed in our board meetings. Where is this information? I will be glad to look into the facts if I am mistaken. We have not been asked to vote on anything regarding this.
  12. Thank you for the update. I have not been on here too much lately just busy. Please know I am praying for you. I know you are a fighter and will fight this battle !!!!!!
  13. Thank you NJ ! You know where my heart is.
  14. Thank you Mojo !!!! I hope you know I feel the same about you!!!! It's always good to know that there are involved families who are willing to respectfully speak up for their student with the local school level.
  15. Thank you! It should be the norm? As an elected individual, I pledged to serve. That is all I did. Nothing more, but your compliment is apprecitated. It does get tough with all the negative stuff flying around at times. I just have to remember that no one can ever please everyone. Thank you Dana, hope to meet you and some of these other nice pcommers that I have yet to meet !!!! I do try to help when possible !
  16. Thank you but I just reached out like I would hope anyone would do for me!
  17. Surepip, you are all more than welcome! I would do my best for you or anyone else that is doing what they can to help a child get an education by being an involved parent or grandparent. Wishing you all the best !!!!!!
  18. All I can say is that in any meeting that I mentioned the SPLOST being on the ballot, I asked each person to visit the website to get all the information, ask questions, and make his/her own decision whatever that might be. Thank you for sharing your experience with the meetings regarding the SPLOST. I know no matter what that it is impossible to please everyone all the time but I do attempt to be fair, consistent, and open. Thanks for getting the information and asking questions
  19. BB, You are welcome. Trying to serve, be up front, and present the information in meetings and on the district website to give the public answers and let the people vote/decide. Kim
  20. Whitey, When this renewal was brought to our board, the reason for it being early was due to a change in the law regarding Splost and the ballot. If it does not pass, the waiting period before it can be placed on the ballot again is a year not (if I remember correctly). That is why it is on the ballot now. If it is placed on too far into the future, it could cause a lapse in the SPLOST revenue which would require that we find another way to pay on the debt from the bonds of years ago. I am okay with it being on the ballot because I believe citizens of our county deserve an opportunity t
  21. I don't like the AJC and don't remember "liking" their page. I "unliked" it after seeing my photo. Too late now but I am reviewing my liked pages and deleting.
  22. Hope you had a happy birthday. Still hope to meet you one day! Thank you for your hard work!
  23. This really stinks!!! Thanks for the easy way to donate to replace the items. Our county's kid's are too young too have to deal with this ugly reality of those who would rather steal/accept than earn. Kim
  24. We were informed of this incident. Thankful everyone is ok. Better to be safe!!!! Thank you for trusting the school to keep these students safe!
