  1. I second vacations to go.com The best deals I've seen on there are extremely last minute. There used to be better deals for a month out but now it seems just last minute.
  2. I disagree with this statement. Not too long ago, only the wealthy could afford an education. Besides your skewed graph, what other source can you site? The reason I say this is because I'm positive it doesn't show those that had a part time job while completing those degrees, graduated and couldn't find a full time job. I know MANY that are still working their part time job and have gone back for their masters just to defer their loans. My SIL completed her masters and still can't find employment so she still does her PT gig. So all of these people don't show in the unemployment
  3. The Japanese steak house that is near Sears and JC Penny's at Town Center Mall had a sign that they would be open.
  4. When I upgraded my cell phone at the AT&t store late October, they talked us into Uverse instead of the at&t standalone DSL. He looked at our DSL speed and asked if we experienced a lot of buffering while streaming netflix. We didn't. He said the Uverse we were upgrading to would be so much faster. Well now our netflix buffers. Grrr. Jealous of your tablet.
  5. I will try to look at that when I get a spare moment. I tend to agree with Just Thinkin Hard, I'm not sure it can be taught. I think our younger folks are so used to seeing bad behavior rewarded on tv, they don't see a problem when they emulate it.
  6. Let's suffice it to say without getting into the details, I'm going through a stressful time right now due to an employee not having proper soft skills. She doesn't show respect/communicate properly. Needless to say she is no longer in my employ but I have to get supplies back from her today. Praying that goes well. I also deal with this lack of soft skills when hiring. People will push for you to hire them and ask things I don't feel they should ask when they blindly call you on the phone. It's not at all how I approached a potential employer when I was in the job market.
  7. Recreational use is what my pondering is about.
  8. I am for legalization. I've never touched the stuff. Been around people doing it but I stood firm in my resolve. When my mother was ill right before her passing I told her if I knew how to get some for her I would. She was constantly nauseous and sick. In fact she died of starvation because of those problems. My biggest concern is what has been raised here. How do you regulate it for work? For example, people that serve the public like teachers, police and firefighters. If it is legal, can they take a hit first thing in the morning and then go to their job? How do we regulate
  9. I can tell you as a small business owner, CL is legit. It's the only way I can afford to post my jobs as Monster and the like charge hundreds to list. My ad might not have my business name listed but the reason is I don't want someone cold calling me. I want you to follow the directions I listed and submit a resume and cover letter. Then if you fit the need, I will contact you.
  10. I still feel like we are "Dollar General Estates" now. Because of the fact that DG is known to choose locations where they can avoid having to pay to put in a turn lane, hubby has strongly suggested I don't shop there. I've been tempted a time or two, but have resisted the urge. I still feel bad for the folks that live right there. And I had no idea when I bought my house that that piece of land was zoned commercial. My agent didn't tell me and I was so young 11 years ago that I didn't know to think about things like that.
  11. When I heard about the GPS thing years ago, I changed mine from "home" to my dog's name. Which is like a human name, so not suspect. My husband came up with some Marine Corps reference for his. I never thought about the cell phone though.
  12. I disagree. The 7a and 504 are real loan programs through the SBA. These people had to go through a bank to get these loans just like any other loan. They are having to "pledge" every single assest they have; both business and personal in order to obtain these loans. They will be paid back like any other loan. The only way they could get rid of these loans is if they file bankruptcy. I know what I'm talking about because I obtained an SBA loan in 2006 and am still paying on it. The other things on the list besides the 7a and 504 SBA loans, I can't speak for. But I can most defi
  13. Cobb Transplant - you know how to dig, but you didn't search deep enough. Notice next to Mr. Patels name it says 7a to aid small businesses. If you look up the SBA 7a program you will see it's a loan not a handout. http://www.sba.gov/category/navigation-structure/loans-grants/small-business-loans/sba-loan-programs/7a-loan-program Most of the ones on that list that show "direct" were 7a or 504 loans through SBA.
  14. The problem I was having was nausea and vomiting so any pills I'd take would be tossed back up. Those pills are too expensive to have that happen. I tried Zomig (I think that is the nasal one) and didn't like using it. I found out Maxalt has a 5mg sub lingual pill and that has been my go to migraine med ever since! They are still expensive though. I was only able to afford 3 of them last time I got a refill. I only need to take them when I feel a migraine coming on.
  15. We saw a group of 3 20something boys yesterday. 2 of them had long (past shoulders), feathered hair. I thought I stepped through a time warp. I swear the blonde guy put a curling iron to his locks! I couldn't quit staring!
  16. In addition to DISH doing this with FOX they just recently did it with AMC. Mad Men Season finale was a bit messed up from it. To make matters worse in our household, we had DVR'd the whole season and started watching after the finale aired. They (DISH) moved the channel AMC aired on to one of those you never go to like 6089 or something. SOooooooooooo...our DVR didn't know to go to that channel and we didn't get the Mad Men season finale. By the time we realized it, it was too late as they pulled AMC off completely now. We are planning on streaming (and paying the $1.99) through Amazon t
  17. Not true...see my comments below. See my comments below and other person I've quoted below. I agree with Georgia Dawg. I have been on anti-depressants twice in my life for about 6 months each time. The first time wasn't really for depression it was for another reason that I won't get into here. The second time was for depression and I needed them to get over the horrible depression I encountered many months after my mother passed away. I am not pro-pharmaceutical and prefer to do things the natural way. However, there are times when those drugs are really needed. I
  18. yes. Things that may not have bothered you in the past could start bothering you. My husband travels and when I went through depression I bawled my eyes out one day when he was about to go out of town. Normally, I like time to myself to do what I want... I also second the thyroid and hormonal responses. I've had the worst tantrums of my adult life because of my thyroid being out of whack!
  19. Alert: The Paulding County Sheriff's Office wants to warn citizens of a "police impersonator" in Paulding County. The Paulding County Sheriff's Office wants to warn citizens to be aware of a "police impersonator" in Paulding County. Last night (07/06/12), there was a report that a black Ford Crown Victoria with a blue light on the dash stopped a vehicle in southern Paulding County. Two white males in dressed in business attire approached the driver of the vehicle. Once the two white males made contact with the lone female driver, one of the males took her wallet and they both fled th
  20. I really don't understand what the big deal is. I had my real email hidden on fb. I figured people would pm me if they are on fb. Have you ever gone to someone's page searching for their email when you could just send them a pm? It's not like I'd give out that email to anyone outside of fb. I don't see how they can mine data anymore than they already do with the pm's.
  21. The way it was explained to me by my dad and his wife is if they are both on the mortgage, the reverse is in effect while at least one occupies the house. So the question would be is it in both names?
  22. I am happy about it too! I feel like I'm flying at 45mph after going down that road at 35 for so many years. And they do ticket people on that road. I've had a couple. And a warning. Because of those, I always put my cruise control on and people would tailgate me.
  23. She looks cross-eyed in the last pic. She has also perfected the vacant stare...creepy.
  24. Actually it's the opposite. If you had the chickenpox, the virus lays dormant in your nerves and in some people will later develop into Shingles. I've known and heard about people my age and younger getting shingles nowadays. I found this article and believe it to be a plausible theory. Article
