  1. That is actually the worst thing you can do. If you encounter a bear and you run, it's natural instinct is to chase you as prey. Never, ever, run from a bear.... you will not out run one.
  2. One thing about the bear... I suggest NOT trying to defend yourself with any handgun smaller than a .44 mag or a large caliber rifle. Bears are lightning fast and very resilient against firearms, unless shot in the vital areas. For bear, wear something that makes noise, like bells... Make lots of noise while you are roaming through the woods. Most all animals are going to avoid you if they know you are there... including bear. However, if you run across a bear, your best defense is bear spray. If you buy a good quality bear spray and learn to spray it properly, it will be far mo
  3. Not sure if you are talking Georgia or Florida law, but it is not illegal, in Georgia, to carry a firearm in to the woods that not meet hunting regulations, provided you have a valid Georgia Weapons License. I can carry a .22 rim fire for personal defense, in to the woods, and it's perfectly legal, providing I have a valid Georgia Weapons License. The only restriction is if I use a handgun for hunting, it has to be .22 cal or bigger and be a center fire cartridge. There is no muzzle velocity restrictions in Georgia.
  4. It's awesome when you can piece something together and make it work... not only a good way to keep cost down, but it's gratifying when you make it work! The tape I use isn't actually teflon tape... it's something else, but comes in a roll and is like teflon tape... it's yellow and a little bit stickier. I've never had it fail.... and it's been on my compressor and all my air tools for over 25 years. The regular white teflon tape is definitely a quick fix... The yellow stuff seems to melt as you run the threads in... Glad you got something to work with though... anything free
  5. Doesn't the 1/4" supply line to the tank cause the compressor to run forever? Seems that with no more volume of air that a 1/4" line would support, the fill time for the tank would be indefinite. On the intake filter... I use a oil filter. I don't remember which filter number I actually used, but I have a Delco oil filter on it as my air filter... works great and knocks a tremendous amount of intake noise out. I took the air filter housing off and got a little piece of steel pipe about 3 inches long and the particular filter I bought uses pipe threads... so it screwed right on.
  6. To answer your question directly, the Ruger SR9C is a nice little pistol, as well as a Glock 24. Springfield makes an XDs in 9mm that is a very good gun and there are options such as the Sig P238 in .380 or the Sig P938 in 9mm. Another very popular gun is the S&W Shield, which comes in 9mm and .40... it's very small and compact and has a pretty skinny grip that accommodates getting a good grip for smaller hands. The Shield is part of the M&P line, which has proven to be a reliable and well shooting firearm. Any of those pistols are excellent choices. I'd steer clear of the S&

    Warning....

Just an FYI... This is not just for cell phone cameras. What they are doing is nothing new. The data is stored in what is called EXIF as part of the picture. Many newer regular point and shoot, as well as high end DSLR cameras have GPS stamping capabilities. This GPS data, along with time and date stamps are stored in the EXIF. If you don't turn those features off on your camera and you post the picture, if someone can view the picture and save it, they can read the EXIF info with a viewer that supports it. If you like having time, date, and GPS info on your pictures, th
  9. And reasonably so... Georgia has a law that states that it's illegal to wear a head covering that conceals the identity of the wearer in a public place or private property without written consent of the owner. There's a few exceptions, but in general, it's illegal.
  10. Where are you looking? I'm not having any problems finding anything but .22's. Academy in Hiram has plenty of .38's on the shelf in the back and the more popular calibers at the customer service counter. Georgia Arms in Villa Rica has most all calibers available.
  11. South Dakota is one of the most beautiful areas of this country. Been there a couple of times... most recently on vacation last year.
  12. Well you goy it replaced and working, which is the main thing. Not doing business with them is certainly within your rights, but as I said, you probably won't be doing business with too many computer related manufacturers because most of them have the same basic warranty policy.
  13. Umm... again... sorta. An engine with a given compression ratio in 90 degree ambient air can ping while the same exact engine in 50 degree air will not. Nothing with the compression ratio changes. What changes? The air intake charge temperature. There are a LOT more factors that compression ratio that affect pre-ignition. Heat is not a fixed factor. Compression ratio is. An engine with a lower compression ratio that would normally not ping can ping by something as simple as carbon build up. A given compression ratio does not produce a given amount of heat. It does pl
  14. Sorta... Octane rating is actually the rating that denotes how much heat resistance a fuel has... not how much compression it can take.
  15. Yes, it will affect it, but not to an amount that it would drastically affect the emissions readings. If all the emissions systems are working properly and the converter is burning at the proper temperature, the amount of CO difference would be nil.
  16. First thing you need to do is find out why the CEL is on. Were the O2 sensors that were replaced factory sensors or auto part store sensors? What codes are being stored now? Reflashing is unlikely going to fix it, but it can... depending on the what the actual problem is. The O2 sensor is nothing but a resistor... Reflashing can change the value the ECM is looking for to be an acceptable range. This is not something that happens frequently and if there was an ECM flash for that vehicle, from Toyota, it should be fairly easy to find out of there is... You need to get the

No, it didn't appear too be moving slow. He WAS moving slow and he was LOW. He was about 200 ft above the tree tops and his landing gear was down when he flew DIRECTLY over my house. That metallic grind of the engines that the C-5 has, was almost deafening. I was sitting in my office. The C-5 has a unique sound that no other aircraft has... I heard it and the sound seemed to never dissipate. I went outside to my back deck as it was coming over the house... I used to live about 1 mile off the runway at Dobbin's, in Marietta... I've seen plenty of C-5's take off and land the
  18. No, it's not a stretch... and a router is not a single component device. It has many items that are part of a board. Any one of the capacitors, resistors, transistors, etc can go bad. And no, if you buy a NEW water pump from the manufacturer (dealer) you do not pay a core charge. You pay a core charge when you buy one from the aftermarket parts store so they can send it back to China and have it rebuilt with sub-par junk components. You are misunderstanding the warranty. If you buy a new unit with a 1 year warranty and it fails in three months, the replacement unit still

Came over my house too... I kept hearing it and it was not leaving the area very fast... The house started shaking and I thought it was going to crash in to my house. I don't scare easily, but I was shaking with that.... It was either a C-5 or a C-17... couldn't tell for sure. I was waiting to hear a crash, but I never heard anything or saw any smoke....
  20. If I catch him in my yard trying to get my dog, he's going to have some medical issues. Like I think most people here feel, our dog is a family member.
  21. But there's a few problems these days that a shooting range tends to remedy. Unfortunately, a lot of people are scared of firearms. A lot of people live in sub-divisions and like it and don't care to live in the country where you can shoot. How many times do you see people on this very forum asking, "I just heard gunshots... anyone else in the county hear them?" Some people get ridiculous about firearms being shot. People call the police when they hear gun shots, no matter where they are coming from. People shoot on their own land, with proper backstops, in daylight hours and s
  22. My point is, they don't know who you are or what your intentions are. They have to run their business to make money and prevent themselves from being scammed and keep costs of failures as low as possible. That is why the industry has that policy. Think about it this way... You go buy a brand new automobile and 7 months later your water pump goes bad. So, you call the dealer. Do you want a brand new automobile? No. Do you want the water pump replaced under warranty? Yes. Do you think if you were capable or a certified independent mechanic that you could call up the deal
  23. Not much of a liability the way they have the rules implemented. To get in the lounge where the bar is, you have to be a "full metal jacket" member (highest level member). The lounge is accessed by a member card and isn't available to lower level members or the general public. Once you purchase a alcoholic drink, your card is flagged and you cannot check in to the gun range that day. If you want to shoot and then go drink, you have to put your gun in a valet safe and then come back to get it at a later date. They thought the process out pretty well and looks like they will be ver
  24. Ok... all your examples have shown that there is a lack of service... None of those examples are anywhere close to what you described with the router. You had a problem and they are fixing the problem. I just don't see how you expect a brand new router to replace your failed one. The one you have isn't brand new. When it was brand new, it worked. If it's an industry standard, you can complain all you want. It's not costing them anything. If you go somewhere else and have the same problem, you'll get the same result... hence "industry standard." If your unit was a week old,
  25. No kidding! I'll spend the extra $40 to get a new one! Hell, it would cost me more than $40 of my time and gas to go get a used one... ...and on another note, removing a windshield without cracking it is not that easy to do... You go to a pull a part and start removing a windshield and end up cracking it... guess who just bough a worthless windshield?
