  1. I think it's in the strip mall on 61 after you pass Walmart.... in the O'Charley's area...
  2. Her: 'Wait, I only have a robe on and can't go in like this..." You: "Oh, well then, you should be shopping at WalMart."
  3. A lot of what the offer depends on the resaleability of the vehicle. If it's something that is a fairly recent vehicle and they can flip it quickly and make a decent profit, you'll get a better price. If it's an older vehicle that isn't in much demand, you're going to get the low price. All they are going to do with a vehicle like that is sell it at auction with a reserve that is slightly above what they pay you for... and hope they get more. Then, your "buy here pay here" lots will buy them from auction and sell it, multiple times, to people who can't afford them.
  4. I like to know where my donations are going... generally, I will sell what I have for cash and then donate that to one of the charities I choose... This helps ensure the money goes to the specific charity you want it to go to and it's a lot less likely that it will be a Sally Struthers fund where $0.02 out of ever $100 goes to the charity and the rest goes to her Twinkie and Ho-Ho fund. I donate to the wounded warriors and childhood diseases funds.
  5. I always hold the door for a lady and I always let them on and off the elevator first. I agree, manners and politeness have gone out the door. However, it's not just men. I hold the door for ladies all the time... some say thank you and smile while others just walk on through like you owe it to them and never even make eye contact with you. I'm not looking for any kind of special recognition, but it irks me when I hold the door open for a lady and I don't get a thank you or simple acknowledgment. It's not going to stop me from doing it, but it does irk me.
  6. A P0500 is a VSS. That is on the transmission and it's what sends signals to the instrument cluster and ECM. They are fairly common to go out on higher mileage vehicles and when they do, they can cause the instruments to go haywire. Lights will come on, speedometer can go nuts and even completely dead... What I don't understand is why you are getting all this run around and getting told that it's SO expensive and that you need to buy a new cluster? While, the cluster *could* be the cause, it's unlikely. Has anyone replaced the VSS on the transmission? On the pathfinder, it's
  7. I see nothing that says he was or wasn't on duty. There are plenty of officers that go home, while on duty, for lunch and breaks. Again, WAIT for ALL the facts to come out... Why is it so hard to understand we are a nation of laws and due process... we (including police) are innocent until PROVEN guilty. It boggles my mind at how many people pass judgement based on an initial report from a news agency and not a reliable source.
  8. No, on it's face, there is NO reason for judgement until ALL of the facts are known. What is inexcusable is condemning the officer before the facts are known. I am not defending an action. I'm saying that there are and have been circumstances where this is beyond the officers control and these things, unfortunately, do happen on occasion. YOU are one of the ones judging this officer without knowing what the facts are... not me. I simply stated that these things can and do happen. And I believe I have said, each and every post, that judgement should be withheld until the fac
  9. And why did the officer HAVE to have forgotten the dog was in the car? You don't think a K-9 handler doesn't know when his partner is in the car and when he isn't? Have you ever seen the bond a K-9 officer has with his partner? There are VERY few bonds that are tighter knit. No, he didn't have to have forgotten him. Do you know how long it takes the inside of a vehicle to reach lethal temperature? It takes about 20 minutes. If the officer left the car running, parked, and the AC went out, the inside air temp could reach 140 degrees in a matter of 20-30 minutes. It's not uncom
  10. I see this is falling on deaf ears around here. I sure hope these people don't ever get called for jury duty! They condemn a person before knowing the facts. The K-9 vehicles, as you stated, have equipment in them to help protect the dog. The officer CANNOT possibly take the dog out every single time he gets out of the vehicle. These vehicles have kennels built in to the back with water troughs in them. The air conditioner is usually left running. There are thermostat sensors that if tripped *should* roll the windows down automatically, if an unsafe temperature is reached.
  11. Sorry, but the officers that are there do NOT do it on their own time. They are either getting paid over time or comp time, either way, it comes out of the tax payers pocket. And even if they were doing it on their own time, they are still using county resources to be there. (IE: Vehicles, gas, wear and tear, etc...). Now, I bet you're going to tell me that the cost for doing that is negligible, right? Well, that's my whole point. You're complaining about an officer spending a minute and a half to unlock a car for someone but you don't complain when their 'service' benefits YOU.
  12. And just how is this a public service? Because YOU enjoy it? That's what makes it ok. This is EXACLY what you stated about someone using them as a locksmith. "Your tax dollars" that have the fire trucks, fire fighters, police cars, and police officers not being available... blah blah blah... You can't have it both ways. You get your jollies by them being at a touch a truck is NOT a public service. "Lockouts" are the lowest priority call they take. If the officer is not busy on a call and has the minute and a half that it takes to assist someone with their locked vehi
  13. The brackets holding the pipe shouldn't affect movement. If you look close, the brackets are not around the pipe, they are around a larger piece of cut pipe and the lever pipe is going through those. With that said, I would not even think about doing something like this. To design it correctly, it should be done with a bearing pillow blocks, have proper linkage connected directly to the pedal and have a foot plate on the pipe with a reasonable amount of surface area. It should also be mounted in a position that is not going to impale the driver in the event of an frontal collision
