  1. Well, it's Wal-Mart, so I'm sure they could appear on the "People of Wal-Mart" website at some point or another. People are stupid and rude and clueless. I'm sorry you encountered that and that it made you mad. I'm not sure how I would have handled something like that without getting myself in trouble, eye contact and a snarky remark would have been made, but you were the better person. Hugs. (Maybe they were looking at Halloween decorations behind you? I'd rather that be the case than thinking people can be that low.)
  2. He's suing becasue it was recommended LAST YEAR that MLB stadiums extend the netting beyond where it currently is. 10 ballparks, inclucing Sun Trust, have done that, but this park didn't. If it had, he wouldn't have been hit by the ball. Yes, people do know the risk of attending a game, but when safety recommendations are made and not followed it puts things in a different perspective. Plus, he didn't technically have a ticket since a friend who works there got him in free, so he didn't have that "contract" on the back of the ticket.

My sister has a friend who lives in the US Virgin Islands and she hasn't heard from her yet, so we're praying she's okay. I went to Sint Maarten on my honeymoon and my beautiful island is devastated. That's the one you see on the "Worst Airports To Land" list because the planes come in very low over the beach. It is a harrowing experience and I joke that everyone who goes there should get a certificate saying they landed there. That airport, Princess Juliana International, is badly damaged. Now it's on track to hit Miami and come straight up through Florida and Georgia. I wonder if they'll
  4. I know Hutchens Elementary is asking students to donate diapers and packages of socks through 9/8 and Hiram HS is asking students to bring a case of bottled water. I'm going to defintely contribute to both of those and I'm sure they'd accept outside donations too. Any other schools accepting other donations, like canned goods or personal care items? Thanks!
  5. I agree. Luckily they arrested him last night. I think they didn't want to spook him and have him run. It was the brother of Janeal Priester, the PCHS graduate who was killed with her boyfriend Nick Wright in the wreck on 61 at Old Villa Rica Rd a couple of years ago. The suspect was also in the car and was seriously injured in the wreck. Sad situation all the way around, both for the victim's family, but also for the suspect's family. They lost a daughter and now have a son charged with murder.
  6. I've heard rumors as to who that perpetrator is but won't divulge them on a public forum. The police know who they're looking for but won't release the person's name to the media. They do fear that the person is armed.
  7. Sad situation all around. Prayers for her family, and his family, and that the police find him before he hurts anyone else. Paulding has two violent, armed fugitives on the loose right now, so we all need to be careful and keep an eye out. Oh, yeah, nothing quite like getting a robo call that your child's school is on lockdown before school even started.
  8. HIPAA, not HIPPA. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. Sorry, one of my biggest gripes in healthcare. Anyway, if there's no patient identifiers or if the patient signed a release, then no violation.
  9. I have a question about all this. Colin Kaepernick protests the National Anthem and our flag because it represents oppression of black people, and when people get upset about him protesting the flag, his supporters say that the American flag is just a piece of fabric. Those same people are the ones saying the Confederate flag is oppression. So our country's flag is a piece of fabric, yet the confederate flag is oppression? I do agree that the monuments should be put in a museum so people who do want to see them and learn about the history can without forcing anyone to see it against their
  10. Pets are microchipped so they can be returned to their home if they get lost. This employer microchipping is for locking/unlocking the doors, clocking in and out, and to purchase things from the vending machine in the breakroom. The mark of the beast is required for buying and selling goods and services--such as buying that Snickers bar from the vending machine.
  11. My doctor gave all the staff Yeti 20 oz cups (with a lid since he likes us LOL) for Christmas. I fill it with a few ice cubes and water at the start of the day, add more water at lunch, and I still have the same ice in there when I leave. My coworker does the vinyl heat press stuff and made custom stickers for everyone, so we all got them decorated for free too. I like it.
  12. It's too close to the mark of the beast for my comfort.
  13. My oldest starts 10th grade, my youngest is starting kindergarten. I'm ready to not have to make the drive all the way to his daycare anymore since his school is a mile from home, I'm ready to save money because after-school program is much cheaper than daycare, I'm ready for my oldest to get his license during this school year so I don't have to run my butt all over the world for both their practices and after-school activities. Does that make me selfish? Maybe a little, but it's crazy some days and they only do one sport each! LOL. I'm not ready for the increased traffic, though.
  14. On a thread asking why there's fewer visitors there's a several-person argument about the site admin! I want to know that if I'm looking at a topic there's not going to be member bashing, name calling of the admin, or random ranting tangents by (or about) a certain member or two! Even without the political nonsense, there's frequently a back-and-forth between certain members and it gets annoying. Plus, I have to admit, there are topics started by one member that I don't even read because it's going to spawn new arguments or have several replies from that member to that member. On a mo
  15. She was so sweet and will be missed by the kids and parents who knew her at the daycare. Heartbreaking.
  16. My coworker apparently does not know the etiqutte "rule" about bringing fish for lunch at work. We work in a doctor's office and sit in the same small station, next to each other actually. She goes to the hospital to buy lunch and usually eats it at her desk. Only problem is she gets fish almost every day. I'm not talking Captain D's fake stuff, but fried flounder and grilled snapper and grouper. The stinky stuff. It stinks so much and she throws her (mostly) empty take-out container in the trash can at her desk. Today it was salmon and broccoli, microwaved, so it wafted down the hall fro
  17. Yeah, but the idiots near me have been shooting them off for a week already, well past the time limit, too. I've heard them after 11:30 p.m on weeknights. THAT is what people don't like about them. The night of the holiday, carry on, but not four days prior and three days after. A friend of mine had a neighbor shooting them off yesterday at 5:00 p.m--you can't even see them during the day!
  18. Ignore Google or WebMD because you'll convince yourself you're dying. Go to an endocrinologist first. Dr. Adeel in Austell is amazing. She's on Medical Park Drive, off Mulkey Road near Wellstar Cobb hospital. If you're overactive, the thyroid is usually surgically removed by an ENT and then endocrinologist will put you on thyroid replacement meds; if it's underactive then you'll be on thyroid meds to even out your levels. Any time someone has a problem with anything in the endocrine system, I recommend seeing an endocrinologist instead of just PCP because they'll have more options for you
  19. Prayers going up. We're all heartbroken and praying for them. My son's favorite soccer team is Manchester City so this has him especially worried.
  20. My oldest was diagnosed ADHD at age 5. He knows he's most likely not to pay attention, I know he's most likely not to pay attention, his teachers know it, so there's no need to "celebrate" that by giving an award. I would NOT be happy if that were handed out to him. Teachers should be giving out real awards or superlatives, not stupid ones like this. When I was having him tested, and it was more than his pediatrician writing a script for ritalin at my insistance, a teacher friend of mine warned me not to because he'd be labeled as "that kid" and teachers wouldn't want him in their classroo
  21. I never met Thad in person, just watched/read here on P.Com. My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends. He was a fighter and had spunk. I remember reading the problems he had with the county and his house and his defiance, standing up for what was right, was inspiring. I hope we can all take that spunk and stand up for what's right.
  22. It's crazy in there. I wonder how long all that mess will take to get done and when we can actually find things again. What are they doing anyway? New floors or just rearranging?
  23. Luckily we were still up so we knew to reset our clocks. Ours was out for about 10 minutes near Sweetwater Church Rd/Hwy 92.
  24. I grew up a few miles from there and my best friend in elementary school lived on that street. It's maybe a half mile from an elementary school and less than a mile from a middle school, so it could have been much worse. A friend saw it go down (he lives almost across the street from the neighborhood) and it really shook him up. Prayers for the pilot's family and friends and praise that nobody on the ground was hurt and the family was at church and not at home. There have been many plane crashes in the area because of McCollum airport but this is the first time I can recall one damaging a ho
  25. I still have to work every day, so the only difference is not getting my oldest up (youngest goes to daycare) and traffic is better. I don't like all these breaks because my oldest takes a good two weeks to get back in the routine (then we have another break 6 weeks after that) so it's like the back-to-school battle all over!
