  1. Wood will warm you twice. The first time while you cut it and the second while you burn it. I've been cutting down some trees today to split and let season for this Winter.
  2. Try proving they didn't hire you because of that would pretty much be impossible and very costly as well. There are lots of companies out there right now who are refusing to hire people because of age.
  3. I think TP is making the assumption that only a conservative would report any political topic he starts in the cafe should be in the political forum. He can't possibly believe there may be those who post in the cafe who lean left who just don't want to see political discussions anywhere but in the political forum and report his posts.
  4. The left doesn't care if they make the poor poorer as long as they make the rich poorer.
  5. Following the end of WWII, German army helmets were brought back to the US by many of the returning GIs as war trophies. Many of these veterans came home to find it difficult to find jobs and without jobs couldn't afford to buy a car, but they could buy a military surplus motorcycle for as little as $25 so they bought them for transportation. The increase of motorcycles being driven on public roadways resulted in some states enacting helmet laws. Many of the veterans who had motorcycles wore the German helmets they brought back as souvenirs to obey the helmet laws as motorcycle helmets were
  6. I'd have to agree. If there were a tunnel there and in it was a storeroom with gold and silver, people would be all over the place trying to find it. If the tunnel as described was large enough to hold as many Confederate soldiers as described; the tunnel entrance should not be so difficult to find.
  7. Most likely because they don't have anyone trained to do it.
  8. That's true. I guess you can say Rhode Island has to depend upon other states for beef.
  9. I agree with that.
  10. Especially since it's so difficult to get these days.
  11. Apparently the DD214 (certificate of release) Ladner's attorney supplied the AJC has the Purple Heart on it. If he was wounded during a grenade attack in Honduras, I have no idea why the Army would have awarded him a Purple Heart as we were not involved in any combat operations there. At that time, our military was providing a lot of humanitarian aid to Honduras that included improvements to their infrastructure. I'll have to do some research, but I don't think we even declared Honduras a combative zone.
  12. I think it's especially tough for those who are 45-60 when it comes to finding jobs as what jobs are available are going to much younger adults. Obamacare certainly isn't helping the economy improve either as it is proving to be a jobs killer; more jobs are becoming part-time rather than full-time. If our government really wants to create jobs, then remove many of the EPA regulations that have forced many of our manufacturing to move their operations overseas. They can kill Obamacare as well.
  13. One only has to look at the demographics of his district to realize how and why he was elected.
  14. It's quite simple as to why the deli and the bakery are closed during those hours. It's because those sections will lose money if open during the late hours. The same goes for why they use self-checkout rather than open a normal cash register during those hours. The traffic coming in that late at night is not near the amount of traffic the store has during normal hours. They're still trying to be of service to those who shop late at night, but it is not sound financially if providing full service is going to cost them to lose quite a bit of money during those hours.
  15. I don't know if you're a mom or dad. ExtracurricularDad, ExtracurricularMom or BusyAsHeck.
  16. Read some business journals for a change and you'll see he's correct.
  17. Zoo knows there are no provinces in the US; that there are states. It uses provinces only to insult you and get a rise out of you. Zoo also picked this topic to insult you. Racism exists everywhere, even in jolly ol' England where English soccer fans sang racists songs at a game to insult two brothers who were playing in the match. Article here. Racism exists in Canada. The reality is racism exists everywhere.
  18. Actually, those teachers did have somebody they could go to - the police.
  19. There's also Habersham Winery and Fox Vineyards and Winery.
  20. They should use DNA testing in all capital crime cases; however, in 1985, DNA testing wasn't available.
  21. I remember when I was in basic training at Ft. Knox; they had mosquitos the size of hummingbirds.
  22. I have a Mac and I'll never go back to a PC again. There are many software programs you have on a PC you can get on a Mac, i.e. Microsoft Office. You do have to purchase the Mac compatible versions though. I've had my Mac for a year now and I have not had a single problem with it.
  23. There are lots of things I purchase at Walmart because they're less expensive there. I bought a couple of work shirts at Walmart by Dickie for $14.99 each. I saw the same shirts at Sears for $34.99. I saved $40 buying them at Walmart. One night the wife and I were at Walmart behind another couple at the cash register. They had with them a notebook they had written prices on from other stores. Each time the cashier picked an item up to scan, they would give the price from another store that was less and the cashier would ring it in at the price they provided. They had two buggies full
