  1. They will get it just like we got it. Being consistent is the key, in my opinion.
  2. Well, it wouldve looked silly but you DO have good hair, ES! ::::STANDINGOVATION::: Thank goodness there are still a few of us left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. As a teen I had a magnetic nose ring. I thought I was soooooo cool! But, even though my parents were not hard on us in a negative way and were always reasonable, they made NO mistake as to where the boundaries were. They made us total believers that consequences would be swift, no fun and most of all, CERTAIN and very consistent. So, I made darn well sure my Mom never saw me with that in my nose. After I wore it maybe 3 times, it dawned on me that getting into that much trouble for something as small as an earring stud was not worth it. My parents taught us that "you turn into what you w
  4. Thanks, Postman! I started my first pond in my first house about 15 yrs ago. It was very small and I managed to kill lots of plants and sadly a few Koi. The bigger the pond, the less you have to do to maintain a healthy Ph balance. Let me know as you go along if I can help in anyway. I will tell you this to hopefully save you the same disaster I had... I had no idea that leaves(especially dead ones in the Fall)could change the Ph very quickly making it lethal for Koi and plants. I came home from a normal workday to find a leaf-covered pond and all but one Koi dead. It was horrible! A
  5. it's very pretty. I have been furniture shopping lately and that's a great price. Unfortunately, I already have a sofa table but I'm sure someone will love it!
  6. This is a pic of my pond last year around this time of year. The red blooms are water hibiscus. In the pic on the left, the cedar is a little hard to see but it's on the right in the bottom pool of the pond(I had a waterfall, then a bog, then dropped down into the main pond)and is about 5 ft tall. For what it's worth, Postman...I made the pvc pipe square you can see floating to the left to keep the koi food from floating away and getting trapped in nooks of the pond where the fish wouldnt really eat it. It kept messing with the PH balance. It worked really well.
  7. thats good. Good luck to you! Even in this dismal market, there is a niche' in a few different areas concerning real estate and you can do very well if you work by the facts only and not emotion.
  8. I could totally live there. I'm only 5ft tall, too, so "hobbit-ish" I would surely be!
  9. That helps but you should really know how to look at the records and why. There are thousands of realtors who claim to be "good" who got their license sitting at home and only sold well in a strong market. Numbers dont lie. I woouldnt trust anyone with my money without seeing all the numbers and records for myself.
  10. Nice! I had a 10,000 gallon pond at my last house with tons of Koi, frogs, snails and even an african painted turtle. Lots of beautiful plants too. I am really itching to get started on a pond here. I dont have 12 acres anymore so it will be smaller but it is so much fun to get out there and garden and see your animals nad plants thrive.I think my favorite plant was a cedar tree. I planted it in a clay pot in pond soil and set it about 8 inches underwater. I was about 5 ft tall when I moved. It was just the coolest thing. I had water lettuce, lillies, cattails as well as a few really beautiful
  11. so true! I think if they are too young they wont understand why anyway. If they are old enough to understand why, they know why anyway.Gah! Permissive parents who let their kids rule the house really gets under my skin. They NEED you to say "no". Clear boundaries build trust, permissiveness gets you big problems.
  12. Exactly. And convince her? You will most likely never convince her but then again, arent you in charge? That would be a big, resounding "no" at my house. I do use the "because I said so....the end" a lot, too.
  13. This seems like a very novice way to decide whether or not you should buy a house as an investment. If you're not extremely careful, you'll wind up with houses you cant afford and bad, undependable, destructive tenants. Things like tax records, final sale amounts and days on the market are the only way to really know what you are buying. If either of you have a real estate license you have easy access to all of these. If you dont have a license and are new at this, I would strongly suggest you get one or work with someone who does and has a lot of experience in this market. The public can ac
  14. Good grief . Those people are off the charts crazy. I think God is probably looking at them saying something like, "speak for YOURSELF, not for me."
  15. Really beautiful, Postman! I absolutely love any trumpet shaped bloom. I had a begonia vine growing on my mailbox in my first house for 11 yrs. It looks nothing like annual begonias. It is a very hearty, heat tolerant vine with these gorgeous trumpet shaped salmon, coral colored blooms that are bright yellow on the inside. I am going to plant one here at my new house as soon as it cools off a little more. Thanks for sharing your pics. You are quite the renaissance man .
  16. I have bought 2 christening gifts....both silver "time capsules" with the babys name engraved on it. They were about 6 inches long and cylinders. The parents can keep invitations, baby jewelery, etc. inside. I bought one of them in Hiram at the jewelery store in front of Home Depot and faces hwy 278 next to Krystal. Prestige, I think is the name. Sorry, I havent lived in Paulding in a few yrs so Im not sure if they are still there. Both families really liked the gift and commented on how unique it was and that they would love opening it up one day with their child.
  17. I've been to Amsterdam twice. The first time was too quick to see very much. But the second time was during the Tulip Festival. Breathtaking and one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. We watched on the last day as they mowed them over as it's the bulbs, not the blooms, they want. My Dad once had an absess tooth while in Amsterdam(few years ago). That is a bad, bad place to need a dentist.
  18. Great post! This is exactly what the anti-corporation people need to grasp. When big government leaves Capitalism alone, the possiblities are endless no matter who you are.
  19. None of us here are involved in anything civic, political or ,just generally, worthwhile. But we do have lots of different smileys. And we dont know any facts either. That is all.
  20. AHHHH! I love that combination so much. I bet it's beautiful.I feel the same about red. Red is hands down the worst color on me. I own NOTHING red unless it is worn below the waist(skirts, etc)and nowhere near my face. Makes me look like death warmed over.
  21. That's one looong post to be picking about everyone else doing a lot of nothing on Pcom.Just sayin'. On the subject, as a parent I can totally understand what youre(the OP) is saying. However, I just think if they are old enough to drive and be responsible for their own and other passengers lives, then they should be old enough to face a judge and let the chips fall where they may. I might get him to work for the difference in the raised insurance premium. This may mean he cant drive for awhile(tuntil he pays a months difference and gets ahead of the monthly bill) but is that really a bad th
