I always LOVE seeing Steve Wozniak anywhere he pops up. I think it is a shame that he and Job's didnt remain friends or even just remain on good terms after the split with Apple. Wozniak just seems like one of those people that would be fun to be around and very approachable. ummm, no but Steve Jobs did...like it says in the thread title ?

now THAT is funny.

Too true. Aint that just life though? And, to add to that, he probably would've never imagined, until maybe very recently, that a system he pioneered would be the very way the entire world learned of his death? I'm sorry....it doesnt get more surreal that that.

Agreed, Subby. Life is full of uncanny moments...never ceases to amaze me. Can you imagine the emotions and thoughts that went on in his head when he was fired after the history he had? Only to be brought back again and will be remembered so well. When I heard he passed earlier tonight, I thought of how simple life really is. He had everything, literally EVERYTHING, but the thing we all want is to live. Cliche' but so true...you cant buy it.

That IS very scary. Years ago, the day before he started 3rd grade, my son had a concussion. My brother is a doctor and naturally he was out of town when it happened . He was telling me what to do over the phone. My son asked me thru tears, "did my tooth get broken?!?!". I answered him that it was but that we would get it fixed immediately. Then, not 3 mins later he asked the VERY same thing again with the same amount of emotion as if we had never discussed it. Scared me to death. After a night in the er, a trip to the dentist and a couple weeks to heal the cuts and scrapes he was totally

What color is your front door?
Gipper Girl Rocks replied to Gipper Girl Rocks's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Ah....good point, TC. Well, presently mine is the very same blah white as the front door. HOwever, I had not even given it's color a single thought...TIL NOW :p ! On the red note, I think red is almost a neutral color on a houses exterior. Depending on the shade, it looks great with so many colors you might not think of until you start taking notice. I do love a bold, black door, too. -

I think black shows fortitude, timelessness and character...intelligence! I guess I just declared myself "front door color expert ". JK...but those are the things that I think of when I think of black. Heres what I DO know about yellow houses...statistics have overwhelmingly shown that for years, yellow houses sell faster than any other color house? It has a welcoming and "at home" feeling with most people. -

Too true...we are! I love green for that same reason. Very tranquil without being fussy. -

Oh! Yikes! I have to "hypothecize"? I guess I see red as a pretty outgoing color...likes to have fun but traditional ,too. I guess it's also about "why" you decide on "your" color. And, I love every red front door I ever see. Especially on little, old, white-washed brick churches...beautiful! hmmmm....and we both love our Doxies. I see a trend here . -
Painting mine red tomorrow . It is blah white and since I've moved(about a month ago), I have been chomping at the bit to paint it. My Mother always had a red front door in every house she and my Dad ever lived in and always said it should match who you are. Not scientific but sorta fun to think about. What's yours? Or what SHOULD it be(as you cant easily change the entire house to paint your door "your" color")?

Sounds so good. I love comfort food like that. I made ribeyes on the grill with a salad full of just about everything, roasted new potatoes and italian bread with olive oil and rosemary.

My house was robbed in broad daylight....
Gipper Girl Rocks replied to Gipper Girl Rocks's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I didnt feel as violated as I wouldve imagined. In part b/c the police showed me lots of evidence that the thieves are more than likely teenagers and do not want to come face to face with anyone. Not that they arent capable of worse. I decided that day that I would not live afraid or like a prisoner in my own home and that good people in this neighborhood are a lot stronger than a few young punks stealing from hard working people. You know how I feel about personal responsiblity and the right to bear arms. Police cant be everywhere and I wouldnt want them to be even if it were possible. I'm -

Thanks so much for sharing this! The investigator said the same things to me...almost 100% as what you've posted. I am convinced that getting to really know your neighbors can help as much or more than anything. I do giggle a little when I picture the thieves opening up my 2 armoires searching for flat screens . My tvs are so outdated, I almost didnt even bother moving them down here. I'm printing this out to give to all my neighbors at our next meeting. Thanks again! -

Yep. And, the police chief told me that buglars are typically lazy. If there are a few things that make your house more work to rob, they will just move on to the next. -

I soooo agree. It would be mass chaos in any metro area. The looting, hoarding and fighting over a loaf of bread would be the norm. The more remote, the better. -

Me too! I visited here(south Ga)in Feb and March. It was like spring. It was a really nice thing then but after the brutal heat of the summer down here, Im really hoping for some cool fall weather. -

I couldnt right now although before moving recently, I really think I could have. I had a well established garden, lots of canned food, a great well with a solar power backup, a nice spring on my property, a wood burning fireplace, plenty of means to hunt, etc. I really liked the feeling of being more self sufficient. That is not to say that I had it all figured out or that it would be easy. It wouldnt be a cake walk by any stretch but I know I could have made it work enough to survive. Now, Im starting over but have already taken steps in that direction. I dont like the feeling of knowing -

I shall! I have your digits in my phone. I will be there in mid November. -
Im no longer in Paudling or the metro Atl. But, my house was broken into and robbed around 3pm a couple weeks ago. This is an older but nice neighborhood. Most people have been here for many years. I know the person I bought my house from left her doors unlocked and never had a problem. She lived here over 6 years. They broke a back window(with my tools from my shed in the backyard, no less)and left with about $7,000 worth of my belongings plus about $1,000 in damages. My main concern was that they took a gun and we all know where that could go. Very uneasy feeling. It's a feeling unlike any

I did almost the same thing, Subby. I have been sick in bed for two days now. About to climb the walls with cabin fever, I got up to wash a few dishes and take the dog for a short walk. I walked outside in my sleeveless sundress unaware that it DOES get below 90 in Valdosta afterall! Had to unearth a sweater...I love it!
