  1. Yes he is. I agree. I think gratitude comes along with age quite often. As I look back over my life I have so much to be thankful for- things I didnt even realize that were so wonderful til many years later. The way I grew up, my parents and family life, my education, my church and church family, the places I have travelled and opportunites I had and seized. My career and people I have been able to work with and learn from. I could go on and on. I guess presently, the things that really mean so much to me are the "little" things I now have that I wanted but never had before. Like, a husb
  2. What is your favorite for a newborn-3 or 4 months? I used a bassinet with my son but my Mother had a Moses basket for him at their house. I ended up wishing I had gone with the basket so I have one for this baby and cant wait to use it. I think they are so sweet . They're also quiet and easy to move around. My Mom told me that when she was a young girl(1940's), she remembered Mothers pulling drawers out of dressers, lining them and using them as bassinets/cradles. I'm thinking though that I may need both or something else for the in between stage of newborn and moving to a baby b
  3. Sorry this happened to you , TC. Anything like this is a hassle and YOU are the innocent party having to run around and give up your time to do it. Ugh. We went through something similar last year when our house was broken into and robbed. Were the purchases they were making local? I know usually, the purchases are either made very very quickly and close to home or they're made in other states or even other countries if the thieves are running a bigger ring, I guess. Also, that is good information from Riograce and Rookie. Thanks for that!
  4. In all honesty, I have never had a client that it didnt work for. I've sworn by it for years. One more tip...when you lather your body up with it, let it sit there for a min or 2 before you rinse.
  5. LPPT is right. Labor can be a great experience. Mine was with my son. I remember thinking I just accomplished one of the hardest things in life and a man cannot do it! It is the workout of your life but if you breathe and let your mind tell your body what to do, I really believe it makes labor go much better. When you are afraid, you tense up and it slows everything down. If you'll look at each contraction like a mile marker while running a race, you'll relax and go with it and it can be a great experience. Just keep reminding yourself how long women have been doing this. If it were THAT hor
  6. Biolage The'rapie Shampoo I have recommended this to my clients and family for years(previously had a different name). Use it as shampoo and body wash. The detergents in good shampoos are the same and even better, in most cases, as soap or body wash. Aveda even recommends cleansing your face with almost any of their shampoos. Matrix makes products that are just as high in quality. My Dad was my experiment on this. He had the worst I had ever seen and fought with it for many years. It COMPLETELY clears up as long as he doesnt go back to regular soap or shampoo. Aveda also has a m
  7. Thinkin about you today . Hang in there...you are on the home stretch now.
  8. It's really good though that you are actually stopping to take note of how precious life is. I think so many people never get that. I lost a lifelong friend to brain cancer when he was 32 yrs old with a beautiful, young family. That left a hole in my heart I couldnt have imagined. Then, a few years ago, a good friends husband dove in Lake Lanier from their friends boat as everybody had been taking turns for an hour or more. He dove in a young , healthy and very active man and came out a quadriplegic. The change in their life was enormous and a serious struggle on effery front especially t
  9. You are so COOL! LOL! I did everything her way the first time(my son is 18 years old now)after I was COMPLETELY exhausted and overwhelmed the first 3 months(before I found her). And fully intend to do it all her way again this time. When the Dr's yammer on with the "do's and dont's", I'm sitting there thinking, "thats not what Dr Denmark says and what she says works." I've already done it and I KNOW it works. what a great idea!
  10. LOL You are gonna be a good Mamma. You are speaking my language. My WONDERFUL pediatrician, Dr Leila Denmark, used to remind me that there are 4 things we cannot MAKE our children do- be born early(technically speaking;)), walk, eat and go potty. She is by no means "let the child run the show". It is her way of reminding us Mom's to not sweat the FEW things we have little control over. She used to tell me also that in the long run, they WILL do ALL of those things. She said, "trust me, Mama...he is not going to show up to the first day in Kindergarten crawling" . A little common sense goes a l
  11. Crazy like that here in Valdosta yesterday about this time of day. Pea-sized hail for 15-20 mins. I was expecting a black sky/tornado-like after that but the sun came through the clouds and it ended up being a beautiful late afternoon. Everything looked so new, bright and GREEN afterwards. You all be careful. It gets so nasty there in a hurry.
  12. I've had our A/C on since the beginning of Feb here. Not everyday but at least 5 out of 7 it is on. I'm in south Ga and the difference is more than I thought it would be.
  13. I wish I couldve seen you slap him! It's very hard to understand how the mind of a woman in an abusive situation like that works. Some abuse is much less obvious, even to the one being abused, but physical abuse? Who doesnt KNOW that is just wrong?
  14. Wow! Glad she helped and that he is doing well. Makes you feel better about the world to know there are still some good people left.
  15. I went to a private school where the principal, every teacher and staff member knew both of your parents by name and usually where you lived so we thought a lot harder before doing anything too crazy . I know we did SOMETHING but cant remember what?! I'm gettin' old.
  16. Oh no! Now its Thornton Road, too!? Two nice places and look what happens. Next thing you know Fulton Industrial wont be safe to jog at night.
  17. all the things THEY said^^^. (there is no alcohol in this beer). I know how you feel. I am absolutely at my miserable point, too. There isnt a second of the day that I'm not dragging myself around thinking "how much longer?!". I was like that with my first, too. I think it makes labor a lot easier though once you've gotten to the point of doing anything! It helps to calm fears about labor and makes you really ready to go push that baby out!
  18. theres always Hiram station. Just dont trip on your way out.
  19. for real! I always answer 3 questions on that incredibly stupid and nosey survey and mail it back to Big Brother. I'd take an alligator over the government in every area of our lives.
  20. oh, I see this thread going downhill quickly. :::coveringeyes:::
