  1. None of those topics you mentioned (9/11, the banks, NAFTA) have anything to do with the issue at hand and you know it. Furthermore, you're citing examples of beliefs held by members of the fringe. They're not representative of all conservatives—you know that for a fact, too. And talk about knee-jerk reactions—every time a company raises prices or lowers benefits to cover costs, it's always a move to "con you out of more money" to folks like you. It's like you think businesses don't have a right to make a profit. Your debate skills are just second to none.
  2. I thought you'd be above Godwin-ing this discussion, but I guess I was wrong.
  3. WE (meaning us), and them (meaning Congress) didn't go to the moon, sequence DNA, or do any of these things. I know you're making a generalization, but in doing so, you're crediting a group of people (the entirety of government) that had very little to nothing to do with any of those accomplishments. What WE did wrong was turn over Congress to, well, Congress. It's not the GOP we should be afraid of—it's nearly all of them. Seven of the top 10 richest members of Congress are Democrats. Do you think they pursued office because they knew they had enough money, or was it to protect their
  4. I don't disagree with the outrage over the low bond since we're dealing with a lost life here, but you have to remember that this man is still an ACCUSED killer, and under our justice system, he's presumed innocent until proven guilty.
  5. You're not the only one who doesn't seem to know how boards and authorities typically work. Many boards and authorities are appointed by government authorities, such as city councils, county commissions and others. And it's common for members of those councils or commissions to have representatives on these boards (for instance, I believe the county's planning commission has one councilman from both Dallas and Hiram serving). The fact that you have representatives of governments on the AA isn't a conflict of interest. Those representatives are going to have similar interests (bettering
  6. Appreciate your "expert" opinion in the thread here. Thanks.
  7. Walmart stores clearance merchandise all the time, as does Target (take a look at some of their endcaps from time to time). Just because a store puts items on clearance doesn't mean they're closing.
  8. Wow, into conspiracies much? You were the one that said "Just follow the owners of the real estate around and near the airport corridor at gsccca.org. It cost to look, but, it may give some people answers of WHO will benefit the most with the airport going forward." People with land in the right places are inherently going to benefit when something great and new locates near it, either by being able to put something profitable on the land, or by just having desirable land itself. Don't some people want restaurants and hotels and more out in the far outskirts of the county? Wouldn't it be
  9. So is it a crime to make money thanks to a new industry or business coming into town or expanding?
  10. That's true when any new business or industry comes to town. What's your point?
  11. All those people who complain about the noise from the planes flying overhead?
  12. Funny talk for someone who posts a lot about Dr. Phil, who reportedly makes $70 million a year and is worth $240 million (http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/actors/dr-phil-net-worth/). How is his salary and net worth helping the middle class? If he was such an altruistic guy, wouldn't he be giving out all his millions to help out others? How about all those rich members of Congress, of which seven of the top 10 are Democrats? If they had the middle class' best interests at heart, they'd be giving their wealth to others.
  13. Fixed that for you. Since we're apparently rehashing old news as per usual: Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has one of the best job-creation records of all the governors in the United States, according to a new On Numbers study.
  14. Just out of curiosity, was the name inspired by someone's near-constant mentioning of bacon-flavored condoms? I was never sure why that kept getting allowed on the site.
  15. You mean YOU posted it yesterday, the day before that, and the day before that ...
  16. That doesn't change that Deal is one of the BEST governors in the country—this STUDY said so. But maybe this STUDY was just a BIASED HIT JOB against all the other governors, right?
  17. What's wrong with Barge? I guess it depends on the "conservative" you're looking for? Do you want a conservative focused on "moral values," or one that wants the "conservative values" of small government, low taxes and the like?
  18. Don't remember seeing this mentioned around here, so I thought I'd point it out: Read more: http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2013/06/27/on-numbers-gov-deal-no-7-in-nation.html
  19. Your beliefs are great and all, but you could use some facts to back up your assertions.
  20. So you're saying there are people in this country that are nearly 250 years old too? If not, what was your point in telling us how old this country is? These "computer" things are relatively new, and our country got along just fine without them for so long, so why do we need our bureaucrats to buy them anyway? But in all seriousness, like others have said, it's not an undue burden to obtain an ID (which is free, by the way). And just think of all the mundane things you can't buy without ID—don't even think of trying to get Sudafed without your ID on you, because you're probably going t
  21. So is it a part of the Troll Code that if you're proven wrong, you delete the thread you started and try, try again?
  22. You go to whomever will give you work. But good luck trying to get more than $10 an hour. There are repercussions to getting pregnant in high school, dropping out of school, marrying before you're financial stable enough to sustain more than one person, spending needed money on drugs or alcohol or gambling, or making any one of many poor life choices. And it's not Walmart's responsibility to bail folks out of any or all of those choices. (That said, some successful people have made some of those choices, and succeeded. Hopefully, that means they worked extra hard to get to where they a
  23. We have no right to expect anything from a private company except that they follow the fair laws that everyone else has to follow. Walmart has no more responsibility now being the largest employer than they had when they were starting out. Hope you didn't type that on a Mac or iPhone. Oh, the irony would kill you!
  24. Yes, for shame that their family was allowed to pass their wealth down to their children and grandchildren. So have you set up the entirety of your estate to be given to the state, citizen?
