  1. Free exercise means all are given the opportunity to exercise what they believe—not subjected to one and only one viewpoint. That's why some cities have been forced to either take down Christmas displays or allow all religious displays. By your example, America isn't as free as it could be, as parks aren't giving the people access to other viewpoints, like Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, atheism, deism, etc. But here in America, anyone is free to subscribe to any of those beliefs as well as practice them. Taking Bibles out of public spaces won't change that. I do not care if they
  2. You know, there are some that believe that Jesus was merely a man, while others believe the Bible is hogwash. Removing the Bible from park cabins isn't keeping information from people. Because (A) some people do not believe it to be true, and ( because you're free to get a Bible anywhere else. And you can bring your own. No one's stopping you from bringing a Bible into the cabin yourself. Just because the Bibles are being donated by outside sources doesn't mean the state should allow them to be left in park cabins. Maybe you're right about magazines and other media telling us what
  3. If a hotel were smart about it, neither one would be there.
  4. (Most) magazines and newspapers don't tell anyone how to live their lives. Like others have said, why not other religious tomes? Choosing to allow one and only one private entity to place their books in the drawer is a de facto endorsement of their viewpoint.
  5. And whomever put it there should've minded their own business too. An individual's religion, or lack thereof, has nothing to do with them.
  6. A snake is in a drawer. Who is it hurting? If you don't wanna touch it, just leave it in the drawer. Problem solved. Cocaine is in a drawer. Who is it hurting? If you don't wanna touch it, just leave it in the drawer. Problem solved. A sex toy is in a drawer. Who is it hurting? If you don't wanna touch it, just leave it in the drawer. Problem solved. Should I continue?
  7. From Wikipedia: "Since 1991, Madoff and his wife have contributed about $240,000 to federal candidates, parties and committees, including $25,000 a year from 2005 through 2008 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. The Committee returned $100,000 of the Madoffs' contributions to Irving Picard, the bankruptcy trustee who oversees all claims. Senator Charles E. Schumer [Democrat] returned almost $30,000 received from Madoff and his relatives to the trustee, and Senator Christopher J. Dodd [Democrat] donated $1,500 to the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity, a Madoff victim.[41]" W
  8. I didn't respond to OP until everyone else started to. I thought we had learned to let him just talk to himself until he goes away. This guy has shown no initiative to try to change the world around him (save for complaining on here), nor have a rational discussion with anyone. And when people call him out on it, he starts yet another thread complaining about his critics and anyone who would disagree with him. If he cared about the community, the state, or the poor and downtrodden, he would be voting in every election (he admitted that he doesn't vote) and he'd spend his retirement vol
  9. But not you, right? Because you care about everyone and don't care about losing your livelihood. Yep, you sure are looking out for everyone. Maybe you should try making an effort to ensure that you don't get cut off, or find ways to support yourself in case you do. Your constant complaining and beating of very dead horses won't help you.
  10. What exactly is the fear of one national standard in English and math? It doesn't seem like you can politicize those topics. Two plus two will always equal four. The teaching of proper English probably can't be politicized—you could argue that the grade-level books that are recommended could steer children to viewpoints parents may not like, but spelling, grammar, syntax and more should be pretty standard. I think we need one set of standards so we can better gauge and compare our schools. Under multiple standards, how can we tell if a curriculum is working, or if it's the staff in the bui
  11. I'm pretty sure Lombardi's quote is backwards. It should be "The only place where SUCCESS comes before WORK is in the dictionary." Someone obviously doesn't know how dictionaries work.
  12. Maybe we should treat this topic as a vow to stop feeding the trolls here.
  13. And maybe it's been mentioned, but you want law enforcement to run tags. That way, if they get behind your stolen car, they run the tag and it comes up as stolen, so maybe they can catch the perp and get your vehicle back. In kidnapping cases, they may put out a license plate number of the vehicle the victim was last seen in, so running tags can help law enforcement find kidnapping victims.
  14. No, it doesn't. You can get your tag today and stop paying your insurance next month. How would police know unless they ran your tag?
  15. it's not really a government's responsibility to maximize turnout in any given election—that's for the electorate to do. And when you have weeks of early voting in addition to an election day, the only reason for turnout to be low is that people don't care enough to vote. One could also argue that putting a SPLOST on a general election would appear to some as hiding it.
  16. Can't believe I actually disagree with you for once. If you're paying attention, you know there's an election going on. And you have weeks to cast a ballot—one that took me less than 5 minutes to cast, if that. And if you don't have time to go vote, vote absentee.
  17. Good luck getting an answer on that one. I wonder if his buddy Dr. Phil is in the 4%?
  18. Says the guy who constantly links to the "integrity study" and says the politicians in Georgia called the "F" they received in that "study" a "biased hit job." You can't get into office if you stay in front of your computer and complain 24/7. Why don't you speak to all of Paulding's leaders to ask how many of them are in your 4%? You might be surprised how much wealth they have (or don't have).
  19. Ah, this old tune again. Nevermind that I and several others punched holes in the flawed report card—you remain happy enough to keep going to that well time and time again. It's a good thing scientific "studies" never contain any biases nor ever contradict any other "studies."
  20. What the heck is CNNNN? Is it related to CNN? This looks like a joke video.
  21. Agreed. If someone would love to show how the VRA has prevented any recent bouts of discrimination, I'm ready to listen. I think we've advanced far enough in nearly 50 years to move past this law, and we shouldn't be paying for the sins of those before us.
