FBI busts the folks with the fake virus scans
Computer Rescue replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I am glad to see an explanation for folks to read to see just how "crafty" these criminals can be. A lot of money was made by a little trickery. We remove these types of viruses constantly with majority of our customers never giving up their information. The old rule still applies. Never give out any of your personal information without checking out the source. Thanks Pubby for posting this. Have a good one! Steven Computer Rescue -
Depends on the version of "Outlook" you are referring. Whether it is the Microsoft Office Outlook or the Microsoft Outlook Express the option to make "default" can be found under Tool> Options> _____ From there my memory fails me. However, my Office Outlook has the option under Tools>Options>Other Good luck and feel free to call me if you still need help. I can remote in to your computer and make it happen for you. Have a good one, Steven Computer Rescue **Please note that making Outlook your default e-mail program will not make your e-mail download int

Hey Folks! Some of you might have noticed our website is currently down. Not our fault just our domain name providers are a bit slow in getting the domains pointing the right direction. In any case, don't worry...the site will be up and running again very soon. Thank you for understanding! Steven Computer Rescue

Backups? I give this answer for a try. You could copy iTunes music to a USB flash drive and then plug the drive into another computer and follow the previous post instructions. You could burn CD/DVD's. Or take the hard drive out of the other computer and strap it to your current computer then follow the previous posts instructions. You could upload the iTunes music to an online server then download onto your computer. Why the possibilities are nearly endless... The first option is your easier option and probably faster. Good luck!

Sir Nerd....has a nice ring to it... In iTunes go to File > "Add Folder to iTunes". This should allow you to import all music in the selected folder. You may also do the "Add File to iTunes" for individual songs. I believe this should work for you just fine. All you have to do is navigate to the folder where your music is located. Good luck. Call me if you want. Thanks! Steven

Well, I will get the ball rolling here. First...I am a Nerd not a geek. The difference is that I am much cheaper! Second, your music may not be deleted but just not showing up in iTunes. Give me a call and I can try to remote into your computer and find your music for you. 678-848-7079. This will be the fastest way to help you without asking dozens of questions and so on..

I will come over and see if we can pull the product key off of your old hard drive.

It is unfortunate that AVG wasn't able to protect you. It is even more unfortunate that no program can guarantee 100% protection. We use Avira ourselves as our preferred Anti-Virus/Spyware program. It is free and is ranked in the top 3 if not top 5 anti-virus/spyware programs. The reason why your program failed to protect you is that the virus or spyware that infected your computer was likely unknown by AVG. Programs only know a virus exists if they are told it exists (Virus Definitions). You encountered a new virus or a virus with the ability to disguise itself well. Another reason A

PM sent. We deal with viruses and spyware on a regular basis. Removal can be lengthly but utilizing at least 8 different program with several additional manual removal tricks we will clean your computer. We also provide feedback on how to avoid getting viruses and spyware. 48 max to complete the job. Keep in mind that NO anti-virus/spyware program can protect you 100%. Even if you doubled them up you would still be vulnerable plus you would experience technical issues since they would conflict. Good luck out there folks. Steven Computer Rescue

Avira Anti-Virus. Free, rated high. Protects against viruses and spyware. FYI: NO purchased or free anti-virus/spyware program can protect you 100%. Stay away from the big name brands that everyone has pre-installed on their computers. You know the ones... Good luck! Steven Computer Rescue

I would not advise using the computer with that lower output power adapter. Again, the computer is having not run or "throttle" down functions in order to operate under the lower voltage. My concern would be your cooling fans which may be slowed down to preserve energy. The issue is that it would cause your computer to operate at a higher temperature which will technically result in damage. Now, whether operating your computer with the wrong power adapter will do any significant or even known damage is unknown. You would be rolling the dice or playing chicken here and I can't advise you

You will need to buy a new one. Assuming that it is your adapter that is to blame and not a faulty power jack. The output on your new power adapter should match the output on your original power adapter. To high and you could fry your laptop and to low your laptop won't perform as it was designed (slower). Now, laptops come with a voltage chip that permits a range of voltages which usually keeps people from frying their computers. Your laptop is having to decide not to run certain functions in order to operate on your new adapter...so long story short...you most likely should replace
