  1. It will get worse and worse until you can't get online at all. Try http://www.malwarebytes.org/ The free version. Quick scan.
  2. You should brew your own I've almost always got 20 gallons or so sitting around.
  3. Sounds like Security Center or Antivirus 2009 Pro. Both variants of the same malware. It's can be a nasty one. Try Malwarebytes, although often it won't run without killing the malware process first. I have some time today if you need some help. Feel free to call.
  4. This entire mess would have been avoided if you made sure he never left the house without one of these.
  5. There are minor differences, but unless you have a 60" TV I wouldn't worry about it. Check out amazon, 3.19 with free shipping. http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-6-foot-cable/dp/B0002L5R78/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265863033&sr=8-1 Cables have one of the highest markups for a lot of retailers.
  6. Probably not, I have started using Essentials on my systems and so far I am very pleased with it. There are so many great free AV programs out there, you should never have to purchase one.
  7. Try this link: http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&selected_nav=partner&pvid=&docurl=20080828154508EN Skip the first step. Double check the list in the in the paragraph of step 2 to make sure you don't use any of those programs.
  8. Of course, it was just a joke. About 1 in 10 of them are halfway decent. Maybe 1 in 11 now...
  9. I'd start with a new screen name KSU continuing Ed offers some classes on the subject, I don't know anything about them, but it's something my wife has considered in the past. Good luck!
  10. Nascar would be very different if the officials had to stand in the middle of the track as the cars came by. Would be entertaining until they got hit, at which point it would just be messy.
  11. You do have it, it's just poor wording. 'I have A norton 2009 product'
  12. While it's not ideal to just power it off, you can do it. Generally it doesn't do any lasting harm and it sounds like your simplest option at this point. Nick
  13. I'd call the nurse line, they can at least give you some comfort that your doing the right thing by waiting till the morning. One of those things that people should abuse, but a high fever, rash and crankiness sounds like a good reason to call to me. 404-250-5437
  14. Yeah, I was glad to see the Zac Brown band win. Hard to believe we used to go see him every week at Sidelines on Barrett, and could sit 5 feet away and share a drink with him before and after the show.
  15. Does he have a runny nose? Our daughter had similar symptoms from teething, but she always had a runny nose with it. Also if your worried you can call the scottish rite 24hour nurse line. They are amazing and it's free! I had to call just last week when our 18month old took a nasty tumble just before bedtime.
  16. http://bookmooch.com/ is a great way to swap books, although not the best for new releases.
  17. I'm not sold yet. The 3G is I think the best feature it has going for it, but at an extra $30/month that's pretty steep. Even bad Mac products are generally good so I would be too concerned there. I just can't get over having to pay $360/year for internet on it. And if I am somewhere with Wifi I have no need for a tablet. For my use at least I think the x Series thinkpads are a better option, a laptop and tablet in one. http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:category.details?current-catalog-id=12F0696583E04D86B9B79B0FEC01C087&a
  18. Just wondering, did you install the patch MS release last week? I have seen 3 computers this week that appear to have been infected because the didn't install the patch. If you can't reach the site, the malware has probably modified your hosts file c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts It *should* only have a line like this after the section of text marked by #'s 127.0.0.1 localhost
  19. Ad-Aware is another good product, but for removal of nasty stuff its hard to beat Malwarebytes. A combination of Malwarebytes, Ad-aware and Spybot can take care of about 90% of the junk out there. Past that it's best to get an expert involved as some of the tools can do nasty things while attempting to fix your PC.
  20. The Malware is killing the process, or preventing it from even starting. They have a random exe generator on their site that should let it run. You are definitely infected though. http://mbam.malwarebytes.org/program/random-installer.php If you aren't sure about what your doing feel free to give me a call tomorrow, 678-453-8022 The free version works very well. The main limitation is it doesn't prevent infection, just removes it. The pay version has preventative measures.
  21. No pop-ups here. More than likely you have some kind of malware on you system. Check out Malwarebytes. It's a great program for removing crap like that. http://malwarebytes.org/
  22. My mother-in-law said hers was up about $40 over this time last year. She has gas heat and hot water. I should be getting mine any day now. With the simple billing it doesn't really fluctuate much at all.
  23. My wife and her friends went to Asheville back in October, they had a great time and it was reasonably priced. I stayed home with the kiddo and had just as much fun, stayed up till 2am every night tinkering in the garage. I'm ready for her to have another girls trip
  24. I drove by there at 5:45 on my way to class and back at 8:30. Didn't see anything.
  25. You know I've never thought of it, but I guess you have to be careful with your topics. Shows on the home page as "Convicted child molester strangled in prison by J.R. Ewing"
