My point, since you missed it, was that the school issue and the criminal issue are to be handled seperately and were this MY child, I would be doing exactly what these parents are doing. I don't know any more than what I've seen in interviews with the family and from reputable news sources. Any parent worth a crap would fight for their kid....particularly if they worked hard, made good grades, and had a bright future. I'd like to think that it would take SOOOOO much more than one stupid night for parents to turn their backs on their kid.....love being unconditional n' all.

Ok ladies, which would you rather have?

This thread is the exact reason I'm anti-marriage......a diamond ring and a few vows make women dellusional. -
The lawyer may have a case against the school system if he argues that the spray painting of the street became acceptable behavior and no students have been punished for the act in the past. Past precedence comes into play here, provided that there is evidence that this student only spraypainted the street. I think it's a battle worth fighting, and if it's my kid, I'd fight the mess out of it. As far as the criminal charges, I don't know where that stands, because the legal system has its own jacked up rules. Either way, some of you are a''holes. Straight up.

I removed this show from my DVR after 3 episodes.

I believe the last set of board minutes (or maybe the one before that) said that it was $5K+ per student and there were approx 120 students there. Considered against what it would take to staff an alternative program within the system (teachers, custodians, lunch, building upkeep, etc), it might not be too bad of a deal. Ah ha! A link to the minutes... http://www.paulding.k12.ga.us/board/news/February%2028,%202012.pdf

I saw this on the news this morning. Several things stand out: 1. I didn't know apartment security was armed. I've been in several gated communities with guards or businesses with "security" and I don't recall them being armed.....but I also wasn't paying much attention. 2. Why was the kid run over after he was shot? I grew up in a neighborhood near this place and had friends from high school who lived there (the complex had a different name back then).....no way in hell I'd walk through there unarmed.

ANOTHER SLAVERY QUESTION FOR MATH HOMEWORK
workingforaliving replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
What if the question had been more wordy....with a story... For example: According to the 3/5 compromise, slaves would count as a partial person towards the population of a state for legistlative purposes. If Farmer John has 100 slaves, what's the value of his slaves for representation purposes? vs A plantation owner had 100 slaves. If three-fifths of them are counted for representation, how many slaves will be counted? Also, what if this was a class starter in a history class (history integrating math) rather than a math class (math integrating history)? -

ANOTHER SLAVERY QUESTION FOR MATH HOMEWORK
workingforaliving replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
There is a STRONG push to incorporate all subjects into one lesson. It's difficult some times, but teachers bend over backwards to make it happen. We're told to do it and provided very little guidelines. I think as long as you can back up a lesson with a standard, then everything is okay. (Also, I don't know anything about social studies standards....on purpose...but I can see how this problem was an attempt at cross curricular lessons) -

The costs of cleanup is staggering. The chemicals and man power.... Either way, I hope these kids get the book thrown at them....and I hope it happens on a furlough day so I can go support the prosecution.

Oh, for crying out loud.... These "children" are 17/18 years old. We're about to release them on society. If they don't know that this is wrong, then there are more serious issues than just their upbringing. ONE bad decision can prove to be fatal. Of course, as parents try to minimalize this, no one will learn any kind of lesson. And the whole, "they did it last year" excuse is just that, an excuse. What happens next time I get pulled over for speeding and I tell the cop that everyone else was getting away with doing it? *I* pay the flipping fine, not the everyone else. We're onl

So dozens, if not hundreds of kids knew this illegal activity was going to take place and not a single person thought to report it?

At a cost of $5K per student. No thanks.
