  1. Drove past the Haunted Junkyard today and they had lots of pumpkins!! I want to go on the hayride SOOOO bad, I NEED to find a sitter!
  2. When my dad died in Dec of 04, my husband and I stayed at his house overnight to clean the carpet to put it on the market. We had the fireplace going several hours and the chimney caught on fire. It was very scary and I am very thankful that it didn't damage the house...His poor neighbors saw lots of excitement when 4-5 fire trucks showed up. Thanks for the reminder, we need to clean ours! Do you know if those "chimney sweeping logs" work??
  3. They're EASY to make!! Go the the bakery at whatever grocery store you like and buy a round loaf (or how ever many you need) and just cut the center out. I usually do this for spinach dip and use the cut out center for dipping but they're good for soups, too! I also but bread that's on sale.
  4. Not funny....My dad had a "never give up attitude" to get more alcohol....til it killed him almost 5 years ago. Those of us affected by alcoholism find no humor in people drinking themselves to death.
  5. I've had a headache and sore throat for a week and my 5 yr old started a terrible cough and sore throat last night. I called my pediatrician's office today and they said it may be H1N1 but to keep an eye on her (mostly for high fever). They said they are mostly worried about secondary infections from it like strep or pneumonia....I'm still not sure about the vax, it was developed in a hurry and had not been tested very well. With a toddler and an infant in the house the thought of them getting H1N1 is scary but the unknown side effects are scary, too.
  6. Did they say if it can keep getting passed back & forth or is it one of those things that once you get it you can't/won't get it again for the season?
  7. I'm glad your kids are ok!! I kept my Kindergartener home today because last night she started a really bad cough & sore throat...no fever but I figured better safe than sorry. She's acting fine other than than cough, she's playing with her little sis now. I am really worried about the H1N1 since I have an infant (7mos) & a toddler (2). What were their symptoms? I'm still leary of the vaccine since it was produced so quickly. It's one of those "darned if you do, darned if you don't" scenario's.
  8. I didn't even know tickets could be purchased in advance...I'll have to check into that!
  9. WAAAHOOOO! a little over a month and counting!!!!
  10. Sorry...good luck finding it!
  11. Jump 4 Joey is the only one I know of over there. There was Gorga Monkey or something like that but it's been closed for a while.
  12. 1. NO DRINKING thru a STRAW for a few days. The suction can actually pull the blood clots out. This can cause dry sockets and those can be very painful. 2. If any of the extraction sites seem to bleed longer than the Oral Surgeon tells you is average, have her bite down on a wet tea bag. 3. Lukewarm salt water rinses will be good after a few days as well, since she won't want to/be able to brush near there, the warm salt water will remove any debris in or around the site. 4. Ice packs the day of may also help reduce swelling and bruising. 5. No spitting. If she feels like they have b
  13. I completely agree with you!! I was 22 when I had my first baby and I hope I did not seem this unprepared and immature. After watching the show last night and seeing her family come for her baby shower, her sisters seemed "normal". By saying "normal" I mean they weren't in the long skirts with the long hair, they were cute & trendy. Anna seemed to be the only one that saw like their mom (who looked very Duggar-ish). I wonder if any of the Duggar daughters will "break from the pack" and decide they want to be "normal"...
  14. My kids ate leftovers and I had cup of hot chicken broth...don't be jealous! Hubby just got home, not sure what he'll have...probably leftovers as well.
  15. That is beautiful!! I inherited my dad's love of Corvettes and still get all giddy when I see one like this! I'm a "minivan mom" now but WILL have a Corvette someday!
  16. We recently drove to Ducktown, TN and went white water rafting down to Ocoee River. It's where they held the 1996 Olympic rafting. It was a blast!!! Now is a great time to go because the leaves are changing. The water may be cold but you can rent a wetsuit or borrow a spray jacket. We used Wildwater Ratfting and had a great guide.
  17. I've never used them but the place I go is wonderful. If I have a problem with my vehicle, they look at whatever needs to be looked and and let me know what needs to be done to fix it. They never charge me to diagnose a problem and can usually give me a good ballpark of what repairs will cost. When the relay switch went out, they gave me an estimate and fixed it for $20 less that whan they esimated! My mom even come from Cartersville to use them. Here's a link to their site: http://www.vicwilliamstireandauto.com/
  18. I voted for "Under $5000" but only paid for blood tests and a marriage license and rings, of course! My husband was in the Marine Corps and was about to be deployed so we got married on New Year's Eve at the Bartow Co. Courthouse with 10 family members and my best friend. (who introduced me to my hubby!) 6 months later when we were able to, we took a great trip to Cancun. We put the money my dad gave us for the wedding toward our first home. To me, it's not the wedding that matters, it's the marriage!! We will celebrate 11 years of wedded bliss this NYE and have 4 beautiful kids.
  19. I thought about doing the balloons for my dad as well. My dad passed away Dec 20, 2004. Christmas was always his favorite holiday and hasn't been the same since. I'm getting teary eyed just typing this...My dad struggled with alcoholism his entire adult life so I had a turbulent childhood. His last year alive was terrible, his 3rd wife (my parents divorced when I was 11 for obvious reasons) divorced him, he couldn't keep a steady job and had to sell the Florida beach house he wanted to retire at. He nearly killed himself with alcohol poisoning and a co-worker found him just in time to be
  20. Fabiano's in Douglasville. Are there any Italian places in Dallas/Hiram? The only one I know of is on Main St in Dallas and we waited an hour for our food the first and only time we were there.
  21. Sorry to have hijacked your thread GEAgirl~ I'm sorry too, I was an accomplice in the hijacking....
