  1. The running joke about the Paulding tunnels jumped the shark long, long ago.
  2. I've had people park in front of my house (in a subdivision) and throw their trash out of the car into the street and also into my front yard in broad daylight. They were parked, not moving and took their time about doing it. That tells me that they could care less if anyone saw them or not. A lot of people don't care at all. We had a Styrofoam container of chicken bones in our yard last week. Beer cans, beer bottles - all the time. Used hypodermic needles, lottery tickets that weren't winners, empty cigarette packs, fast food bags, liquor bottles, the odd shoe, socks, kid's homework, people's
  3. I think you are on to something. It must be a Christmas movie. There's another one titled Christmas in the Smokies filming somewhere in GA right now as well.
  4. Ughh... that guy that worked for NASA that wrote a book about this (Dark Winter, I think) said there would be crop failures, food shortages and and food riots due to shortened growing seasons. He painted such a bleak picture of people freezing to death or starving to death or both. I'll be too old in 15 years to deal with that brutal cold. Hope they are all wrong!
  5. Anybody know what's being filmed in the Lithia Springs area today? I got off the interstate at Lee Road today on the way home and came across quite a few of those yellow and black movie set signs. They all had a big X on them. Drove by several sheriff cars sitting on the side of the road between Lee Rd and Bankhead Hwy. So, who's here? I know Michael Keaton was filming last month and this past weekend in downtown Douglasville but I thought the code for his movie was something else, not an X.
  6. I have annual enrollment coming up soon at work and my rates are staying the same. We did have to switch insurance carriers to keep the same rate though. We were told that our current carrier raised the rates for the coming year so our HR dept. opted to go with a different carrier and not renew the current contract. When we asked why, no one mentioned ACA or used the words Obamacare. We were told that it's because we use our coverage benefits extensively. They said that we used it so much and that our bills were so high, that the insurer raised our rates. Kind of sounded like car insurance to
  7. We have one of those off Bakers Bridge where I live as well. Hate that noise, it hurts my ears. He shows up whenever I try to sit on my back deck and relax. Can't have a conversation with anyone until he's well down the road because the thing is so loud. He never stops at the stop sign either. Just slows down a little and then takes off again. One of these days he's going to meet up with someone driving that also rolls through the stop sign without stopping.
  8. The Sheriff's office posted something about 5 minutes ago. It seems, from what they wrote, that it may have been a drug overdose. There is a picture attached to the post and the police are asking for help in identifying the person in the picture.
  9. Yes there is. It connects with Ridge Road. Thanks for the info. That's only a couple of miles from home.
  10. My daughter called a little while to make sure Mom and Dad were accounted for because she saw a link on Facebook about a body found on Ridge Road yesterday. I haven't seen or heard anything about it. Ridge Rd is a long road, Anyone know where this happened. The article I found on 11 Alive doesn't give any details.
  11. Such a long, hard journey they have been on and still continue down. Many prayers for Melissa and Thad.
  12. IUCN lists polar bears as vulnerable. Same for lions. Tigers are actually endangered and listed as such. The subspecies of Sumatran tigers are critically endangered. Orangutans will be extinct in the wild during my lifetime. Not saying that polar bears aren't worth worrying about or trying to save but there are a number of species that are much closer to the brink of being wiped out that need help immediately.
  13. There's probably a crazy reason for it that I'd never guess. However, since they stagger them on different nights, you can watch more than one fireworks display and you don't have to choose just one!
  14. Are the massage chairs like the ones that are at nail salons? Or are they better than that? What's a water massage bed like?
  15. Agreed. Peer reviewed does not mean that you are an expert. Nor does it prove that your theory is correct. It means that you wrote a paper that may have merit as determined by your peers. Peers are usually people that agree with your line of thinking (usually, not always). I keep track of the submitted and published peer reviewed papers for the Ph.D. research scientists at work. You cannot say that any theory "has been proven" because it was peer reviewed. Those papers are the hypothesis that have resulted from their research. Not all research is conclusive and not all hypothesis are correct.
  16. They are supposed to build a Sprouts out there somewhere but I think I heard it was going to be closer to the Avenue at West Cobb.
  17. That's just ridiculous that the dentist didn't even come out to tell you why he wanted to pull so many teeth. Very poor customer service.
  18. When did Brookfield Zoo become a "petting zoo" ? If that's a petting zoo, I'd hate to think what Zoo Atlanta is.
  19. Definitely call them. I would think your complaint would carry more weight when the person involved calls and speaks to the manager rather than someone else conveying your experience second hand.
  20. Animal Control doesn't handle wildlife. DNR does, but they aren't relocating bears this year it seems. The bear (or bears) in Gwinnett County and North Fulton were left to wander and were not relocated. One of them was found dead on Steve Reynolds Blvd. near I-85
  21. Anything but McDonalds! Taco Bell, Wendy's, Krystal, Captain D's......anything else. PLEASE?
