After two years of budget cutbacks, the Ga. legislature has now completely cut the State Arts Council funding. Georgia was 44th of all the states in support of the arts before this happened. Now? BTW, wasn't Georgia also in the low 40's in education, test results , etc. I wonder if that is just a coincidence?

Really, I need help with this!

What "special" activity have you done for your child that finished high school and went or is going to college such as a trip, big fancy dinner, etc? Are you planning anything for your senior this year? Just curious!

I see too many people continuing in a path with no regard to the problems people are dealing with and think the monetary problems will bite us in the butt eventually.

It could provide the business opportunity for someone to open up a "Friday school" using a building where the students would be divided into the different academics with a monitor that would answer questions while the students work out of individual packets. Lunch would follow and then a selected movie for entertainment . After that, some type of sport, activity etc. No transportation would be provided. Teachers, parapros, etc could run it. The other days of the week, there could be tutoring, daycare, whatever to keep some revenue coming it. This could create more jobs.

Over-charging for tests and unnecessary visits for follow-ups that cost more money. High drug prices. -

They were trying to get a half day in so they wouldn't have to make it up.

Two evils: Have less qualified teachers that are paid less to save money. You can make all the excuses and accusations later.

I am glad that I had a chance to eat there. I did not like it but some did. It's good that we can express our opinion on this site. I have found many good places because of it.

After reading the comments, I tried the West Cobb diner. I won't eat there again. The food was very salty and did not taste good at all. Way to much seasoning!

4-Day School Weeks Under Consideration In Georgia

I learned at a late stage in my work that you have to be very flexible and willing to work with whatever you are stuck with. Schools are not supposed to be baby-sitting but a learning environment. If the traditionally styled school needs more funding to operate and the money is not there, changes have to be made. Everything I deal with at home is more expensive now then it was at one point and I have had to make some adjustments. -
A little further away is the Fruit Jar cafe at Exit 290 on Hwy 75 in Cartersville. It is behind the Wendys. They have a great "bean bar" with pintos, butterbeans, chili and corn bread. They have a list of daily veggies that include okra, potatoes, corn, green beans, turnip greens, cabbage, etc. The entrees include grilled Chicken breast, HB steak, Chicken fried steak and several things. They have a daily special which varies. They also have salads, hamburgers, chicken tenders, etc. Tea is very good. I have eaten there twice and had the veggie plate both times. The servings are huge w

We may go out to eat. Otherwise, the only traveling is from the couch to the T.V.

I was surprised to see nothing happen with the forecast I was hearing. I think we will have more. This has been a very wet winter.

First of all, as always, any decision would be wrong in some people's opinion. To correct at least one comment, Carroll Co. schools got out early and were not out all day. In defense of the schools, the forecasters had different opinions of what would happen and now some of them are saying the jet stream changed and made it worse. It really came in fast.

It seems like with the ice and more snow coming, we all may be stuck in our houses for several days. I hope everyone has plenty of supplies and food.

The T.V. said that Carroll Co. Schools are closing early.
