  1. Bulldogs are very social dogs, they LOVE people. That is the good news, bad news...very gassy, but even that has an up side, I just blame the bulldog and the wife believes it. (most of the time) Good luck, they are great dogs, very lovable and sweet.
  2. I can't help with the food part, but most kids are allergic to school. Hope she is doing ok and y'all get it worked out.
  3. Jilly's first place was on Roswell Road and you are correct, it was goooood. The owner was in organized crime and the government seized both restaurants. My brother was in the Jilly's in Smyrna and his ribs had just been put in front of him when, in came the Feds. "Sir, put that rib down and leave immediately!" "Can I take my ribs with me?" "NO! Now leave." True story. The guy that owned Jilly's became a preacher (after being convicted) and once spoke at a church here in Dallas. They stayed open till later than that. Not cheap, but good. (I guess it was good, I never ate t
  4. How about listing some good restaurants that no longer are around. Or some that may not have been good but were around for a long time. Boston Sea Party (Roswell Road)
  5. I stand (actually sit) corrected. I plead old age and lack of sleep.
  6. My grandkids didn't run until they were over 2 years old. Congratulations!! To everyone involved!
  7. Baby Does could be really good or just so so, still it was worth rolling the dice. The Mansion, mmmmmmmmmmmm. I could be wrong, but my memory says that was one of the 1st Chinese restaurants in Smyrna. (if it is wrong, someone will correct me, and thank you in advance for doing so)
  8. If I am not mistaken, and I think I am not, there was only one drowning during the official Ramblin Raft Race. There may have been other deaths on the river by rafters at other times, but I only remember one drowning during the official Raft Race. Heck, you would have to work hard to drown, there were so many people on the river that you could almost walk from one side to the other on rafts and not touch water.
  9. Dang, you old. Sorry, YOU OLD. I know the elderly are hard of hearing. (just joshing, I am right there with you age wise)
  10. The old Pot O' Gold. I miss seeing that pot of gold coins every time I go through there. I think the reason the didn't do breath tests back them was that they were there watching when you pulled your raft out and loaded it on the car and while I can say for sure, I think they watched to see how it went. I don't remember seeing anyone driving that was too wasted, but then again.....
  11. The movie wasn't Good Morning, Vietnam, it was Air America.
  12. I was having a conversation with someone about Lincoln last week. I mentioned that it is ironic that some of the things that Lincoln did to save the country, along the lines of making the Federal Government more powerful than the state governments, are the same things that are helping destroy the country today. Lincoln did what he had to do to try and save the union, but those things have grown into an ugly beast today, a beast that eats more and more of the individual's freedoms.
  13. It was such a big deal that even my parents allowed me to participate when I was a freshman in high school. Of course they had no idea everything I was participating in. I was there for 4 years, '72 - '76. A great thing was that we all cleaned up our own trash and I never saw one fight. Try getting that many kids, teens, young and older adults on that river today and see what happens.
  14. You can bet if she was happy some bureaucrat was determined to change that.
  15. I can only presume that you were either very young or not around for the Carter years. It was NOT a legitimate cutback, in fact, it was only 2 years later, when a real man was in the White House, that many of the projects that Carter stopped funding for were immediately reinstated. I remember that the B1 bomber was one project and I may be wrong (memory is fuzzy) but I think another was the M1 Abrams tank. Trust me, this was big, front page headline, news when it happened.
  16. While the majority vote may have elected these folks to make decisions for the county, that does not mean that we the people do not have the right and the responsibility to address issues that we see are wrong. Now whether you or I see this as not being one of those issues that are wrong is not really the question. Others see it as wrong and I support their efforts to try and get their questions and concerns resolved. That is one of the beautiful (or it should be) things about our system. It allows (or at least it should) for the average Joe Blow to bring his questions and concerns to the
  17. I always call my cars...........car. Enjoy your new ride.
  18. My opinion. If the church is paying him, then that is a issue for those of the Catholic faith to deal with. I disagree with it, but I am not of the Catholic faith, so......
  19. I didn't check my bill for an extra tip and I would hope they found out who was stealing the card numbers and got rid of them. But..who knows.
  20. Ashville, NC Biltmore House and great food in that town. Oh yeh, the mountains are not to shabby either.
  21. I have been eating there since they opened. The food is ok, I always enjoy it, but I have always thought they had the best chips. But now I have heartburn.
  22. My wife and I had to go visit a funeral home tonight. On the way home the wife had us stop by a department store as she needed something to wear to the funeral tomorrow. (I will leave what she needed unsaid) I was standing there, wearing dress pants, dress shirt and a tie, while she was in the dressing room making sure that what she needed to wear fit OK. Up walked this little old lady and asked me, "Can you show me where you keep your underwear?" I did.............and that's when the cops were called.
  23. Oh my god! His grandson wants to be governor? Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! The wife finds my stance on the current open presidency quite funny, but I but I stand by my beliefs. And like I tell her, don't be trying to bring logic and/or facts into it, I have a closed mind on this one.
  24. Once you had a cougar, you can't go back.
  25. I had lunch today at La Cocina (or whatever it is at 61 and 278) because of this thread.
