  1. OMG, wow........... I may be way off here, but it seems like this is happening more and more in Paulding. Add that to the fact that you have to drive 30 minutes to get to a lot of things, and I'm glad we are moving back to Cobb. I'm so sorry that happened...do you have the coverage to get the vehicle replaced? I hope so...
  2. My avatar says it all :-)
  3. I really don't care that they were Hispanic, but it is troubling to me because of the large population of Hispanics in Gwinnett and the fact that they have a gang problem there...along with the tagging on the wall near Allatoona High that looks like it's a Folk Nation gang symbol with the star and pitchforks...and a lot of Hispanic gangs are part of that alliance. Just makes me wonder, and makes me nervous that Gwinnett's problems are spilling into these areas...they're already here, but apparently they are getting bolder.
  4. They were definitely Hispanic. Not only was their skin and hair dark, but there was a Mexican flag hanging from the rearview mirror. Even if there hadn't been, they didn't look Asian or Indian...... And no, I didn't call the police. I didn't get a tag as the car behind them was following pretty closely. My husband thought it was pointless to call, anyway.
  5. Saw something a little scary today. Was in Acworth or Kennesaw (not sure which one...not familiar with that particular area) near Jiles Rd. Was about to take a left, and a red Honda crossing over the intersection caught my eye. There were 4 or 5 men (they appeared to be Hispanic) wearing red bandanas tied around their faces so only their eyes were visible. All of them...even the driver. The passenger was staring at me as they passed and even kept his eyes on me after they passed so that he was looking out of the window with his head turned back toward me. I was really creeped out by this...
  6. Hmm...I'm not sure. This was at the Walmart on Marietta Hwy. I never saw the person, so I'll have to ask my neighbor later. It was so scary...especially since it was so LONG before he was found. I think everyone, or most everyone, has had to look for a minute or 2 for their child, but usually with a few times of calling their name, they are there. 20 minutes is a long time when you have no idea where your child is and someone said he ran out of the store! My husband made me feel guilty like it was my fault, but there were THREE adults (me, my neighbors) and other kids, including my oldest
  7. Here he is...how could anyone resist taking him home with them? He is so sweet and friendly, and that had me worried too. I have heard about kids being grabbed in the produce sections. That is a good idea! I can't believe I couldn't remember what he was wearing! People kept asking. All I could do was show them about how tall he was and say he had blond hair.
  8. God, they sure are. I think maybe he had gone to the toys. I'm not sure. My 6-year-old found a Bullseye Toy Story flash light in the food section and gave it to Tyler to play with, so I think that maybe that got him thinking about toys and then he ran off to them. Not sure how he found the toy section if that's where he went, but it's the only thing I can think of because I was screaming his name pretty loud in the store, and he never once responded.
  9. My neighbors went grocery shopping with me yesterday so that I could show them the basics of coupons. Walmart was our last stop. After making our way around the store, all we both needed was bread. Went to the bread aisle, and it was literally cleared out. There was hardly any bread at all, so I had to bend down and get some from the bottom shelf. I got three bags and stood back up, and my toddler was gone. He's almost 3, so he is just like any little boy and is going to want to stop and look at things, so I thought he just ran around the corner and was in the meat or produce department.
  10. Make vinegar ice cubes and put them in the disposal with some baking soda. Use a toothbrush to scrub the underside of the rubber thing. Put a bunch of dish soap into the disposal and then pour boiling water slowly into it while you run it. Then finish off with some bleach sprayed into the disposal...Clorox Cleanup....and left to sit for a while.
  11. Okay....I removed what I posted pending a talk with Pubby....sorry....
  12. LOL! :-) I know, right...who doesn't like free? I hope someone can answer this question. If I made handbags and made a post about giving some away for free, that may be considered advertising. It's not handbags, and I don't make anything (not really, lol...), and I'm not even to the point where I want to advertise yet. But if I do get to that point, I may buy a business membership. But for now, it's free. For a certain number of people. :0) Well...hopefully someone who knows for sure will chime in. I have already given this away for free a few times recently, but I want to give some p
  13. Just wondering if anyone can answer this for me. I want to offer something for free here, but I don't want it to be perceived as advertising, because I'm really not trying to promote by posting...but I figure people would want to see an example before taking advantage of it. But I guess it could be viewed as advertising...but it would be free, so...anyone know?
  14. No doubt we have problems with our system. But a Canadian style system is not the answer, IMO. A friend of mine is a Canadian, and it took her sister 10 months to have a simple gallbladder removal surgery, and she was in terrible pain for all of those months she had to wait. In Canada, there's no way that my 1-year-old would have been able to get so many different opinions and have so many expensive tests run to determine that he really didn't have moderate hearing loss and that they were all wrong. He'd still be wearing the hearing aids today, because after the diagnostic tests, that wou
  15. I honestly wouldn't worry about length of time causing discoloration. I first got braces when I was 11, and the ortho was terrible, so I ended up going to another ortho when I was about 13. He ended up dying, and there were other issues, so I actually didn't get my braces off until I was NINETEEN. Yeah, I had braces for 8 years basically! My mom spent about 10 grand! My teeth aren't discolored from the braces at all, and I've never seen anyone who had that problem, either. But...I had an expander, and I *hated* it. I would have rather had teeth pulled. And now that my wisdom teeth are com
  16. Nice pix... (Sorry...I don't mean that sarcastically. But I had put my pic up and changed my mind...lol.)
  17. That's where she is already going...
  18. It was an older looking truck...and it was a dark color...maybe black or dark blue. Perhaps an older Chevy SS...but I may be really wrong on that. I wasn't really looking at the truck...I was looking at the driver...
  19. SORRY...I meant 2:20ish....sorry.
  20. One of the moms at the school said it happened around 1:20ish, because she was on her way to the school and passed just after it had happened...people had just started to stop and help. I don't know. Just hope everyone is okay....
  21. I saw this accident. It's weird, because today I left the house 2 minutes late. It takes me exactly 4 minutes to get to my son's school from the time I leave my neighborhood. Around 2:25 (edited for time...sorry) is when I heard all of the sirens. Had I not stopped to do something, I'm afraid we may have been in that exact spot...at the same time and either been involved or witnessed it. What I did see of it was pretty bad. I saw what appeared to be the guy's wife or mom (not sure since I didn't get a look at him to see how old he was) on the side of the road, looking very upset. I s
  22. My MIL is a Pampered Chef consultant, but I don't know yet if she has one, and I won't get to talk to her until tomorrow. I'm making a special cake for my son's 1st birthday and have to make a mountain. Someone suggested the PC batter bowl would be an easy way to do it. I am doing a Dr. Seuss theme and am doing his cake like Oh, The Places You'll Go. Today I made a practice cake and used homemade fondant with just a regular round cake to do the strips of color around the cake, so now that I'm comfortable with the fondant and know I'm going to make his actual party cake myself, I would lov
  23. Well, how about my son's driver treated him as if he were a problem, yet I never heard from her or the school. MY child is respectful to his teachers and other adults. Any teacher at Poole, or the guidance counselor or Ms. Capo will tell anyone that. The guidance counselor refers to him as "one of the good ones" that they can always count on. His bus driver singled him out for whatever reason, and it all started when his yo-yo was stolen on the bus. It started then. What bus driver has a discussion with a 6-year-old about whether or not he was kissing other boys and whether or not she bel
  24. Did the driver have long reddish blond hair (with bangs, I think)? She drives for Poole, but I don't know how the sub thing words and whether she may drive for other schools. I am just asking because I could totally see my son's driver doing something like this. I let my son ride the bus because he wanted to and had nothing but issues with her. There is a mean kid on the bus who told the driver two different times that my son and two of his male friends were trying to kiss (they were NOT!...), and the driver made a big deal out of it on two separate occasions in front of all of the kids. My so
