  1. We have had our laminate for a year now. It is VERY durable. My kids have spilled countless things on it that have gone unnoticed for probably hours. Would I rather have hardwood? Um, probably. But laminate is just so much cheaper. I love the look of ours and we got ours for very cheap... .69/sq ft!!! The only issue I have with it is that there is this one area where there are several gaps that are probably 1/4 or 1/5 inch. I don't think it has anything to do with the laminate, but more so that my husband and his brother were rushing to get it down and did not level that area as they probably
  2. I have never left my kids with anyone except for leaving my oldest with an emergency babysitter once when he was 2. The only other people he/they have been left with are friends. Our family is too far away to watch our kids, but I really need a break. I bought DH an AMC gift card three MONTHS ago for his bday and we haven't been able to use it yet. We have not been out alone together in a year (company Christmas party). I was supposed to go to the party this year, but it didn't end up happening at the last minute. I really want to get away and be alone for a few hours. We didn't do C
  3. We're going to celebrate Christmas on Sunday, so tonight is just an ordinary night. We're going to have homemade taco soup with tortilla chips with melted cheese on them. :-D
  4. I'm sorry I missed the action. Lol. I almost went to WM, but I ended up turning around and going home because I didn't really have a need to go anymore after going in Kmart. What is more sad is that if he had less than $100 he would have just been issued a ticket for a fine. So he may have caused himself a much bigger problem by acting that way and could have possibly gone straight home.
  5. I saw her today crossing the road (not 278) near Home Depot and all the other stores. I rolled down my window and yelled out to her, "Hey Mrs. Jesse!!" as I drove by and she said, "Oh, helloooo gorgeous!!!" I was really happy to be able to say hello to her as I have never spoken to her before. If I had more time, I may have stopped and introduced myself. I didn't know what type of reaction she would give me, but apparently I have a good aura...lol.
  6. I hope he grows out of it. My 13-year-old sister eats nothing but Easy Mac and peanut butter sandwiches for the most part. It is sad! She just doesn't like anything and she has always been that way. I also have a cousin who is and has always been extremely picky...she eats hot dog buns with ketchup on them and that is one of her main staple foods. So weird... It is also strange to me that he is this way because he started out eating and liking everything. I could give him jarred squash, jarred carrots, anything...and he would eat it and would not ever make a face. But now that he is a bi
  7. I will try that...but we already do something similar to that. I don't give him a plate. Ever. Because I gave up a long time ago. Lol. So if he wants it, he just eats off of mine. Sometimes he will go "Ahhh" and open his mouth, and when the spoon gets near him he starts grunting and getting whiny again. It is like a game to him almost. He likes to make me think he wants something but then will not eat it. *sigh* He loves fruit, though. All fruit. But I don't buy berries much because they go bad so quickly. I keep apples, bananas, oranges, kiwis on hand. I started avoiding grapes, stra
  8. I don't see it much anymore because the skinny jeans are more in style, thank God...and the law. But I really think people that dress that way are just idiots. I have never met an intelligent person with good morals who dressed that way. I think they should be slapped with hefty fines automatically for allowing their pants to sag so much that you can see their whole butt. Ridiculous. I understand the tops of the boxers showing if their ass is not hanging out, though. It just isn't fair, though, because all those years that it was not "illegal," if a girl were to go out with her pants worn
  9. My oldest son would eat anything I gave him. He still does for the most part, but there are some things he doesn't care for. But up until about 6 months ago, he would pretty much eat whatever I made for him to eat. My toddler, on the other hand, is picky to the extreme. I just don't know what to do about it anymore. He seems to only want to eat bananas, yogurt, and cereal. Everything else is very hit or miss. I can pretty much guarantee that anything I make for him from pasta to grilled cheese to peanut butter sandwiches to orange slices...he will not eat. He is *very* picky. With that sa
  10. We're having a Southern Living recipe..."Family Pleasing Chicken." Lol. My husband loves it, though I have only made it twice. It is sort of a casserole of diced chicken mixed with sour cream, poppy seeds, cream of chicken, and Ritz crackers with melted butter on them. It's good, but I hate eating it because I know how fattening it is. :-D
  11. My son is only allowed to watch his TV on the weekends, and that is only if he has behaved well. If he has been good I will put a movie on for him to watch. It is always Monsters Inc, which is his favorite movie. Lol...even though he has a ton! I don't think the TV in a kid's room is a bad idea if you set the rules for it. I do, however, think it's bad in the master bedroom. We don't have one. If we really feel the urge to watch a movie, we use the laptop.
  12. If you--a PCOM biz member--are supposed to pick something up (free, and for a charity situation!) from someone's house and can't make it, CALL. If you are active on PCOM a half hour after you were supposed to be at someone's house, that means you were capable of sending a PM explaining the situation. I know things happen, but obviously this person was able to contact me if they were browsing PCOM and this person has said before they are unorganized, so I take this as they were not prepared this morning to pick up the items. I am really disappointed that I have wasted my entire day waiting
  13. How are the wait times at Marietta Square?? Are we talking hours? An hour? It would be a drive for us, and I don't want to go and stand in the cold for too long with the baby.
  14. I was about to post the same thing. That is very fishy...obviously there is something to hide. I don't like the idea of autopsies...who does? They open up your love one's body and do all sorts of invasive things. But when they are so young like that, wouldn't you want to know?? And apparently the police do as well.
  15. Sausage stuffed bell peppers. Never made them before. Hope we like them. We aren't huge sausage fans, so next time I may sub lean ground beef.
  16. OMG...I cannot believe this! This is just horrible.......she was so young. Cardiac arrest?? Hmm...
  17. So, do you think it would have been better to do it on a different day (assuming you would not have been aware it wasn't on the right day). My son would not know because we never go anywhere anymore...lol, so it isn't like people will be asking what Santa brought last night if we do it on Sunday, or if we do it early he won't know either. That makes me sad to think that he would look back on Christmas--like you--and not remember his dad being there.
  18. I hope everything turns out okay...this is a terrible thing for a family to go through during the holidays.
  19. My husband, unfortunately, has to work on Christmas. We are used to him working holidays...that is just how it usually is for those in the computer/hosting/whatever industry. If we celebrate Christmas on Christmas, he will have to wake up extremely early (like 5am) for us to be able to open presents. And then he would leave the house at 8. That would just suck...we have never had him working Christmas before (except maybe working Christmas night), but now that he is back on day shift this is how it is. We are thinking of just doing it on a different day. So...either early...and doing
  20. That is a great idea!! My son would probably love doing this with me. Might have to go out and pick up some cinnamon rolls and cherries!
  21. Okay, I went today. And wasted my time. Ugh. Not to mention I did not think about the traffic near Arbor Place. Let me just say that the prices in the store were MUCH different than the sale ad. I don't know if they just hadn't changed the prices or what, but they were definitely not the same. I was extremely disappointed with everything except for the produce (well, *some* of it). First of all, people kept staring at me and giving me strange looks. I had already read about this in other forums and reviews of the store, but apparently when a white person shops there it is something t
  22. http://portablenorthpole.tv/home This is a really neat thing that you can personalize. You answer some questions about your child and Santa speaks your child's name, etc. It's really neat...I thought it would look fake, but Santa has a long beard and you can't really see his mouth making out words, so it looks pretty real!!
  23. Neat story... though I would never go out of my way to see a man naked like that--I am just not easily impressed like that. I wonder if he still does it? LOL!
  24. Thanks for your input...there seems to be a lot of mixed feelings here and other places I have read about them. I guess I will know how I feel after going in there today. Perhaps I should just start going to Sam's again. I used to go here and there and get things we used a lot of, but at that time it was just me, DH, and our oldest. So it wasn't really worth it for me to go in and spend $100 on 5 or 6 items to last us forever when we needed other things. However, we go through fruit snacks, pasta, cheese, etc like mad, so maybe it would be worth it now for me to get a membership again.
  25. I'm sure it does add up fast! I took that into consideration while viewing their ad, though, and tacked on 10% to everything I thought was a good deal. It still ended up to be a good deal, IMO. Saving .20 or .30 cents or more on an item when you buy 100 or 150 items, which is normally how much I leave with, adds up. Whether it will be worth it, I don't know. I am just trying to see how much, if any, I can save this shopping trip. I don't know, though...perhaps I should just go to Aldi since I am familiar with them and have an idea of their prices. I just *do not* want to have to go to 2 differ
