  1. OMG....I can't live without chocolate! The people around me won't like me anymore after I go through my withdrawl symptoms.
  2. I've also bought supplies that I never seen my child use. I've often wondered if it was used to help others that didn't have the supplies. I don't mind that so much but if that was the case, I would have liked to known in the first place. I have also supplied other items later in the year when asked by the teacher that was never used. The one that makes me the most mad was supplying snack cakes for the kids during CRCT testing and then the kids not getting it. I asked my son if he enjoyed his snack cake (he picked them out) and he said that he or his classmates never got them. I thought perhap
  3. I agree that it is ridiculous how mush it costs to send kids to school with all their supplies. I have three and it about breaks us every year. We moved from Cobb to Paulding, so this is our first year in Paulding schools. I will have to say that it is less expensive in Paulding than Cobb. We had a supply list of all kinds of extras for the teachers in Cobb. We got tired of buying supplies for the teachers. It was nothing to ask for dry erase markers, the eraser, sandwich and gallon ziploc bags, 3 or 4 boxes of tissues, and hand sanitizer as part of the normal school supplies. So this was not
  4. You could probably have some pics done around some of the old houses in either Powder Springs or Marietta for an Antebellum look. In fact there is a photographer in Powder Springs that uses one of the old houses for their studio. Red top Mountain also has some beautiful old cabins on their property you could use for pictures.
  5. I know that the Cobb Extension Office offers a free phamplet with salsa recipes. They are located on South Cobb Drive near Atlanta Rd.
  6. My kids are in camp at one of the Cobb camps. The counselors told us that alot of kids in the our camp and other camps were getting sick. They just wanted us to be aware. They said alot of the kids were having stomach problems and their heads hurting.
  7. Miley is staying in Tybee making a film. My brother-in-law is an electrican and added extra lights in her condo because she requested it. He said that he actually got to meet her and said she was really nice. Comcast also had a video posted last week where Miley surprised guests at Stingrays by singing for them.
  8. I really hate this....your food is wonderful. I haven't even had the chance to try it all yet. I didn't find you that long ago and now I won't be able to go anymore.
  9. Liner pools have to have the liner replaced quite often and depending on the shape of the pool can be costly. I never want another liner pool. I would also recommend a salt water pool because they are easier to keep clean. My husband and I were always struggling to keep ours clean. You have to constantly monitor the chemical levels. We moved and made sure that the house we got did not have a pool. We hated dealing with our pool. It's nice to be able to go swimming in your own back yard but it is a drag keeping it clean. There is another type of pool you might like to check out.....it's either
  10. I will definitely have to check your store out. Welcome!
  11. There is an old past time game that is like your GEO caching. It is called letterboxing. You can look it up on the internet for clues and how to play it. You look for items based on clues given and the items are hidden in public areas. You do not need a GPS unit to do it.
  12. The only way I even knew about Hill Burton Act was a few elderly people I knew that used this when medical bills got too high to pay back. I was informed that you could only do it once in a lifetime. I didn't know it for a fact. I just wanted to make sure to point this out so it could be checked out throughly so it doesn't cause the person further problems later. It would make sense because I'm sure they wouldn't let people keep using this over and over. If they did, then everyone would use it everytime they had medical needs.
  13. From my understanding, you can only do this once in a lifetime. You might need to make sure that you have all your medical care out of the way before you do this. United Way is also suppose to help people when they have financial problems. You might want to give them a call.
  14. Stone Mountain is also a great day trip for the kids. There is so much to do there. If you get the family season pass, it also allows you into the park for the special events too. My family did that for one summer and they had a blast. I know we went to several of the special events too like the Inidian PowWow. It paid for itself after the second visit.
  15. My sister found some kind of spray at petsmart that is to keep the cat away from certain areas. She said she sprayed it on her funiture to keep the cat from clawing it up. She tested on a small area and it didn't turn the material then sprayed it wherever needed. She said it worked great for her. I know her house is not tore up from the cat. It must have worked. Oh, she also put it on her curtains.
  16. I agree that you cannot let the child run everything. You do have to make sure the child knows you are the parent and have the final say so. But have you ever dealt with or lived with a child that has ADHD? It doesn't sound like you have. A clothes issue with a chikd like this can cause them to be miserable all day long and interfer with them being able to learn or enjoy the day. Learning what is comfortable for the kid is not giving in to them but trying to make life a little more livable for them and cut down on problems. Would you enjoy someone making you wear something that it felt like it
  17. You were not the only one this morning. I saw a flipped van on Brownsville Rd this morning. They took out one of those rubbermaid mail boxes. There was at least ten pieces of mail scattered everywhere.
  18. I have to agree with the comments about kids with ADHD. They are sensitive about how their clothing fits. I can not tell you how many pairs of socks we went through because they had to be thin and then he would pull at them until holes were in the toes. I also agree that they are better off with less choices. They have a hard time deciding when there is too much. It is also better to let him dress himself.....less arguements that way. You need to let him know he has a certain amount of time to get dress and in the kitchen to eat or whatever else needs to be done. Also make sure he understands
  19. I hope you didn't think I implied that being a stay at home parent made you a better parent. I've worked everyday also and I had one kid that had to go to daycare, one that grandma kept during the day, and one that was able to stay with dad during the day. I just wished at times that I had chosen the opportunity to be in a job that would allow me to spend more time with my kids. I'm like the other mom on here that by the time I get home and we get homework, supper and baths done there is not much time left. Then weekends is trying to get clothes washed and groceries, and other errands run that
  20. I have known women that work at a daycare so that they can be there with their child while making money. When they get a little older and all in school, you could try working at the school or driving a bus. That way you will have the summers off with them. I 've known several single moms that have made this work. There are times I wonder if I should have done that rather than work a career oriented job. You really miss out on a lot working in a regular 9 to 5 office job that provides no flexibilty for your family needs. Good luck!
  21. What are your prices on the hanging baskets and what type of flowers?
