Have a question for all you handy, DIY'rs out there.

Awesome ideas! The only other thing that I can add is to spend a winter in north central Minnesota and then you will be so acclimated to the cold (real cold) that you will be sweating should the temperature ever rise above 30*F. -
2nd graders told there is no Santa by teacher
pwilhelm replied to onekidmom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
See! This is what I am talking about! Because a few of us choose to do something differently, people have to slam them down, insult them, criticize their parenting, criticize their childhood, etc. Some of us don't do the Santa thing. GET OVER IT!!!! We are not evil....we are not cruel, we are only different. Why do you feel so threatened by that? Why do you get your panties in a wad because I have told my children that, "while Santa isn't real...the message that he stands for is worth embracing". Let me tell you a story about Santa...... About ten or so years ago a neighbor -
I'm so sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed. It is a tough place to be at this time of year. My Mom passed away in April of this past year....I wasn't able to see her before she passed, I still haven't been able to visit GA since. I feel so bad for not having been able to see her, but we talked ALOT! on the phone and I know we both knew how much we meant to each other. The months since April have both flown by and dragged by. I miss her alot....but I know we are always together. You will make it through this....it may not be a picture perfect Christmas Season...but it will be o

LOL If we get rid of them, I'll check with you first. I would have a fit if they got rid of them, though....Kaya has the teepee, the dog, the horse, and lots of the clothing. Josephina doesn't have quite as much. Molly and Emily have a bunch of stuff, too. I tried to tell the girls that they should keep them until/if they have little girls someday. They didn't think much of that plan....of course, now they know that they could sell them.
-
I think it is a Just Like Me doll. My girls have Molly and her Friend Emily, and Kaya and Josephina. ....and ALOT of their junk! LOL They were going to give them to Goodwill and I about had a fit. LOL "Do you know how many hundreds of dollars are in those dolls and stuff!" We kept them....at least for now.

2nd graders told there is no Santa by teacher

I think what gets to me is the statements asserting that I had a sad childhood or that my kids have a sad childhood......it may have been different, but there was nothing sad about it. It is a cheapshot by those that use it. Sometimes the hard part is getting my kids OUT of the fantasy/myth world....at 11, 12, and 13...that's not so bad. Probably the tougher thing is to explain to my kids why they need to indulge other people in the Santa belief....and they do. My kids have never told anyone that Santa isn't real. ....but they do think it is odd that the fantasy is promoted and the t -

First, let me say that the teacher is off base for telling the class that Santa isn't real. It was in very poor taste. That said, the comment bolded in you statement is hysterical! That is all there is on PCOM! LOL I have been told that I am WRONG! many times here....go back and research my name and Santa.....funerals.....vaccinations.....and probably a few other things. It seems that "the way it has been done is the only way to do it" around here. The mainstream way....or the highway. (not a reference to any other forum...but it does kind of fit) LOL As for kids not having any -

So whether it is you, personally, or you endorsing someone else to do so....committing assault because someone else has a different opinion than yours is okay? I believe that religious holidays should not be celebrated in the public schools...you disagree....can I come kick your ass? Oh wait, before you respond...."I'm a loving and kind individual who would never hurt a flea! I donate and contribute and do all that stuff. I'm sweet and innocent and just the kindest lady you've ever met....but I can still say that I want to kick your ass." Oh.... I get it now. We can say what we want -

We could sell festive colored stones for the public stoning! Perhaps serve stone shaped fudgeballs! "Deck the halls with the heads of the Santa-less, FA LA LA LA La....." Sorry, I have far too much time on my hands lately.... ...and that would be fine...but to hear people say that someone should be beaten up for not believing would make Santa/Jesus/God kick some major butt! (although that might be worth watching) -

I know..... (I've been on the sharp wit of your words a time or two...as I have said things that I regret a time or two myself) ....but it makes me so sad. Sad for the world.

The Legend of the Poinsettias People sure become hateful at, what is supposed to be, a loving and holy time of the year. I think you should go stone the teachers! Share the love that you have in your heart! Pick up a stone and kill the people who differ from you. It could be a new Christmas celebration....the ritual stoning of the non-Christians. Woohooo!

Mother passed away Saturday Dec. 3

I'm so sorry for your loss....I lost my Mother in April of this year. It is a very different Christmas for me....but enough time has passed for me to be okay with it. My prayers are with you during this time. -

All in the Spirit of Christmas, I'm sure!!! -
We got a tiny dusting of snow.........and it is COLD!!!!! 7*F right now!!! -2*F with the wind! Woohooo! So it is beginning to finally feel like winter. We (the kids and I) decided to take the next three weeks off for the holidays to make cookies/pies/etc. Supper is cooking, hubby on the way home, we are all safe and healthy....and very warm.
-
We spend about $25 -$50 on each kid (11, 12, 13). Hubby and I don't exchange gifts...and we don't give to anyone else. We might give to charities, if we can afford it. My parents always spent about $50 on each kid......and my FIL will give each kid $100. Sometimes that money doesn't come in until after Christmas, though.

It could be worse..........
