  1. It's still kind of fun for us (we've only been up here since Feb. , but I sure miss being really, really warm!
  2. 30 more minutes for me....... Happy New Year to all you Easterners!!!
  3. We're in Moorhead, MN.... I'll have to tell the kids the fish is still alive. LOL
  4. I can't imagine ice fishing...... but they are nuts for it up here! They'd all be blown off the ice today, though. That might be fun to watch...... This is the beginning.... gonna get worse.
  5. You guys are getting rain, aren't you? No thanks! I'll keep the snow.....even if we did have to shovel our way out this morning so we could walk the dogs. (Why do dogs have to pee when there is a blizzard? Can't they just shut it off?).
  6. The Blizzard raging outside was/is the biggest hit here.
  7. I gotz a blizzard you could have...... I'll even wrap it for you! LOL
  8. Spank Yell Swear Homeschool Stay up late and wake up late Told my kids the truth about Santa from the beginning.... and this year I'm glad I did because we have no $$ for Christmas, and the kids understand.
  9. We will probably spend about $50.00 on each child.....then my parents will spend about $50.00 on each, as well. That's it.
  10. Come on up to Fargo/Moorhead....... I might have a little snow for you.
  11. TBAR, I'm so sorry to hear this news. You are all in my prayers and thoughts..... {{{hugs}}}.
  12. Combined threads so this post is redundant.
  13. We've watched a few of these....I'll catch up on the rest or get the DVD's for the kids to watch as they get older. Truly the Greatest Generation! My Dad just missed being involved in the war and was in the Army afterwards.... but the honor and integrity shown by many of that generation is inspiring and yet it is sad to think where the world is now. Somehow we, as a country, seemed to have lost our heart. Where is the honor in the everyday man? It seems to be harder and harder to find. The series is awesome, though.........
  14. Born near Philly.......... lived near Erie, PA...... Chicago, IL....... then Roswell, GA..... eventually got around to Rockmart, GA.............. now in Fargo/Moorhead, MN.
  15. Up until just a few weeks ago, we were using powdered milk as our only source of milk...... the price just went up on the big box at walmart, so we are buying fresh milk now. It has to be ice cold........... yes, it tastes different, but it is/used to be soooooo much cheaper it was worth it. Right now I have one child that won't drink the regular milk because she thinks it tastes funny. We have used powdered milk for as long as we have had kids....... 11 years....... and never had any problems with it. At it's lowest price, we were saving over $500 per year by choosing powdered over
  16. Corelle.......... some of the patterns are even made in the USA still!!!!
  17. Nope........ never have and now that they are older, they follow me everywhere.
  18. Same thing we do........ or don't do. We've been known to show the other person something we would buy them and say...well, if we had money this is what I'd get for you.
  19. I meant no disrespect...... I know you are going through hell with worry, etc. As stated, you are both in my prayers.... may health and peace rule the day.
  20. Glad you're back............ wait, I'm not there........... glad you're home and safe and sound.
  21. You both will be in my prayers. Now all I can think about is how much I love liver......... sorry.........
  22. I started reading some works by Raymond Moore (Better Late then Early; and other books) that discusses this same thing. What we found with Eli is that he needed glasses and that he just was in a period of learning/processing his studies a lot slower. He suddenly is doing MUCH better......... and will catch up quickly. I just think some kids take time..... poor little dudes.
  23. I have no words of wisdom or help for your sister........ but this just breaks my heart! My, soon to be, 9 year old boy finally is beginning to read well, but it has been a heck of a struggle. We are homeschoolers and I was beside myself with worry about how to reach him.....and finally, he began to "get it". He is finally reading pretty well.......probably a year behind ...... but very confidently and well. I hope he gets the help he needs...... kids feel so bad when they aren't doing what their peers are doing. Good Luck!
