  1. I don't assume they all misuse funds. I'm sure your husband makes more than more kid does. It's unfair to base what he gets off what we make. Having said that--I don't have a problem with him working for it. I have a problem paying for others.
  2. I don't know that all get the extra--but some do. I know a kid who quit school--got $500 HOPE grant for passing GED. Started school which was paid by Pell and the HOPE grant. It also paid for books and extras at school book store. She quit school and still got to keep some extra cash. AND they will pay for her to try again. Doesn't that seem like a waste of money?
  3. Pell is not funded through the lottery. I see it as the government taking my money and paying for someone else to go to college--plus have extra money for clothes or whatever they want. Then my own kid paying his own way because we make too much--not him--his parents. Doesn't seem fair.
  4. The problem to me is some are entitled because of their parents' income. They have all college expenses paid plus extra money for whatever they choose. My kid has the HOPE but also had to get loans and spend his money. I don't have a problem with him paying--BUT I have a problem with him paying and the government (we--who pay taxes) paying for others.
  5. There is a sign in the school that says turn phones off during school--which means they are allowed. People got by without electricity before it was invented--so should we do without it now? I think I already answered why kids need phones at school. It costs $10 a month for each of my kids to have a phone and it's helpful to me--I don't mind paying it.
  6. I agree with Chick-fil-a in Hiram and Dallas Tire--both of these have great customer service. The first place that comes to mind for me is Publix (even though I love Crossroads Kroger). Customer service is almost always great at any Publix.
  7. Shoes seem like a crazy thing to steal. That is terrible. Some parents with kids who drive and/or have practice after school want their kids to have phones at school. It is not against school rules(at least not at North Paulding) if it's off during the day. You should not have to leave your phone--or good shoes--at home. Lockers should be provided in PE.
  8. I just heard 5 or 6 kids had cell phones stolen during PE at North Paulding today.
  9. So sorry you're having such a bad day. How old is the 4th kid? I see a 1, 6 and 8 year old in the post. Is the other kid old enough to take care of the baby for a night so you can get some sleep?
  10. Prayers sent for your daughter. Just reading your post about what she's hearing is so sad. I can't imagine actually listening to those calls or the calls she must receive everyday.
  11. I voted NO and I am in the NORTH. I think CEEJAY is right--so many parents were afraid of double sessions they voted yes. Some parents were really freaked out by that threat.
  12. I like him. My kids were at Shelton when he was the principal.
  13. Thanks for the update weatherboy. That is great!
  14. I like the mens' team best--but I'm glad the women won last night for Make-a-Wish. I never heard what Sinbad's charity was--did you? I really liked last season with Trace Adkins.
  15. From online website Phone: (678) 363-3343 Paulding Dermatology
  16. Yes it is. He went to high school in Plainfield and Avon. His last uncle there died this month. He still has some aunts and a stepdad on his Mom's side (family name Ping) and his grandfather and some uncles on his Dad's side (Cummins).
  17. Yes--Carly Simon. It came into my head as soon as I saw the topic.
  18. Couldn't you have come up with a different example? Don't red heads get picked on enough? How about a baseball coach wearing shiny shorts? I only remember it once--but it did start a conversation--your DW included.
  19. Wow--that is really nice!
  20. I think the song "These are the Good Ole Days." My memory is really pretty bad--so I have to be happy--which I am--in the present. Sugail My DH is from Indianapois(Plainfield), too. He moved here in I think 1985.
  21. #2 shouldn't take that long--you should only have to dry it.
  22. Have you asked the park president (or whatever they call the baseball boss) to send an email or calling post message to the coaches or all the team members if possible?
  23. One of my tvs has a remote with a digital/analog button. In digital the screen is smaller like HD (black sides) and I don't get as many channels--analog is regular cable. Maybe you pushed a button and didn't know it--
