  1. He was fired because his book showed he isn't all that. How were people to believe the guy who didn't believe in science? He was fired because he caused people to doubt what the entire station said. Is this middle school?
  2. I'm not saying science stops discussing, challenging, or learning about current beliefs. I'm saying that failure to act on what we know is foolish. If we learn otherwise in the future, then we act on it. Your not interested in science but a political agenda. Other science? Very small amount if any. NASA's latest information doesn't cast any doubt on climate change at all but reinforces it.
  3. I have a hybrid and one day hope to have an electric car, yes. Of course when teachers make so little, I have to do what I can afford. I do grow many of my vegetables and swap with other people I've found in the area. I recycle all paper, cardboard, glass and plastic. It is rare to have more than 2 bags of garbage each week with all the recyclables. I recycle the clothes by giving my gently worn clothes to Good Will or another charity. I do sew and mend what I can, or I have the cleaners fix it for me. I have several pairs of shoes, including boots, running shoes, dress shoes and casual shoes.
  4. It is not independent but funded by the fossil fuel industry. Don't you think a scientist would want to come out and show the evidence was false if it were? An extreme minority, very extreme, say man is not the primary cause. All the evidence from the last 150 years show this. Why is this even being discussed anymore?
  5. See, this is the problem. You think a high school physics class will enable you to understand the complexities of the field. It doesn't even begin to do so. This has been covered so many times it is laughable if it weren't so sad. The man-made contributions to climate change are exponential and we are at the tipping point now when the trapped gases from fossil fuel use will destroy the atmosphere.
  6. The researcher is one of those far fringe people that no one takes seriously. Compare to a political pundit like Hannity or Schultz. No one, and I mean no one, takes the bluster with any seriousness.
  7. Once the policeman has to come in to remove a student, and the student doesn't do what he or she is told, the officer can and should use needed force to remove the student. I don't like seeing this either, but what else was the officer to do? The teacher had to teach the class and it is not fair to the other students who are there to learn. Unfortunate this happened, but the girl had to be removed and she refused a lawful order. Cuff 'em, Dano.
  8. I just finished grading papers and plan on being asleep in 15 minutes but here is my take on this. I just get tired of the same little group turning everything into a political debate. They are not even nice about it, either. Labels thrown around. Same group. I realize there are a few on the left like Pubby that like that sort of stuff too, but there are so few on that side of the discussion. The right dominates to the point it is not even worthwhile because it is not a discussion. Anything that disagrees with that cabal is shouted down. I'm the conservative in my department but on here I'm ca
  9. So when I say, no, it is not a middle eastern Muslim in this case but was a white guy who says he is a conservative Republican, then I'm the hypocrite? For pointing that out? You're crazy. I'm out.
  10. I am not making those things an issue. I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of u and others in this thread. So let me make sure I get what ur saying. U and others can make an issue of those things and it is fine. If someone points out that is not the narrative, then they are making an issue of it?
  11. So this string started with the "I'm sure it is a Muslim" idea. Find out it is not a Muslim. Find out it is a white guy who is a conservative Republican. Suddenly the focus is on Obama's agenda. No body mentions the gun lobby's agenda to use this tragedy to get rid of gun laws. This whole thread is disgusting. People are dying and we do nothing.
  12. Or not. This could just be another example of mental illness not treated. Or not. We should wait before filling in the blanks we don't know. There is more anti-muslim speech on here than anything.
  13. This didn't appear until 2008. It was hotly contested even then. It is the national motto but it was not adopted until 1956.My problem is that if it can be the Christian "God" today it can be the Muslim "Allah" tomorrow. For that reason, I am opposed to this.
  14. I['m going to have to disagree. It doesn't say that at all. It says "respecting an establishment" which means looks like any establishment. At least that is how the courts have interpretted it.
  15. This time it is a middle school teacher in Florida that left the child in the car. So very sad. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/national/6-month-old-baby-found-dead-deltona-teachers-car/nnh6T/
  16. That was very bad reporting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling
  17. I believe she stopped issuing all licenses to make it appear she was not discriminating but everyone could see through that because it was really to not issue licenses to gays. If this was just about not having her name on the licenses, then she would have stopped filing the appeals after her name was removed. Since she is still filing appeals, it really looks like she is pulling out all the stops to keep gays from marrying because, if enough people are allowed to legally object, then gay marriages can be effectively stopped in many places. This is the same tactic used to stop women from our r
  18. This lady was not getting married to another lady, either. She is giving the license because it is her what the clerk does, not putting a ring on another woman's finger.
  19. This is no different than a Christian policeman who would refuse to go to a mosque that was hosting a community information event. If the policeman can't do something that is an integral part of his job assignment and a reasonable work around can't be found, then he needs to find other work. All this lady had to do was let others issue the license in the first place, or go through her representatives to change the state law. She cost everyone a lot of money and made Christians like her look like a bunch of backward hicks. Sorry, but she did.
  20. Not now they aren't. They were denied by her definition of God's authority. The only reason she stopped giving out any licenses was to not have to give a license to a couple that didn't believe like she did, kind of like the cut off your nose to spite your face. Those gay couples believed god did bless them, like that is even relevant anyway. The point is that she got all her marriage licenses before she found god and those gay couples should have been allowed that same right before they find god (by her definition of god), just like all Americans. She wanted the licenses when it benefited her
  21. You're missing the point and I'm not making any assumption. I'm saying that she was not a Christian (by your definition) when she had those problems, but now she is denying the same right to gay couples who (by your definition) are not Christian.
